*~*~*~*
"That is the only way Galadriel foresees to save this realm of mine. The marriage with the Lord who has been mostly myth and had been hiding all those centuries. What comfort is there for me in this marriage, if this bond will be formed without love. I do not know if I can agree to that, Haldir." Elrond sighed and he brought his hands to his head, as if trying to erase from his mind everything Haldir had said just now. How dare Galadriel rule his life like this and plan this marriage without his involvement and consent to it. He was not ready to bond himself to anyone right now, and he just wanted for all of this to be some kind of jest. He didn't have strength to marry someone his heart loved so many years ago and to face him now when he was in need of help. As Haldir said there was indeed some kind of mysterious force corrupting his realm and to defeat it he would need all the help he needed. But how was he going to step into this bond which would be formed without any love ties? He did not possess the cold heart to regard this marriage as loveless and he didn't want any heartbreak which would surely follow if he was to marry Arthon.
"You have to agree to that. It is the only way, mellon. You have to do it for your home and for yourself too. You are not strong to fight this evil alone and that marriage with Lord Arthon will unite you not only with him, but also with his army. As I said before, his followers are very skilled warriors and they will prevent orcs from moving through your defenses. I am only my Lady's messenger but this is only advice I can give you in true wisdom. I hope you will heed all of those warnings and do the best thing for you and this realm."
Haldir looked at his friend as he smiled, understanding Elrond's reluctance to accept this marriage. He would be scared too if he was the one marrying Arthon. Truthfully as it was, Arthon was one cold elf and his heart was the icy weapon which he used for his defense, either on the war field or any kind of discussion. He was the one who even Glorfindel feared because all those years of tutoring, Balrog slayer received from this legendary warrior, had thought him that Arthon was the one who should be taken very seriously. He demanded respect everywhere he went and he never settled for less. Arthon was married just once and his wife gave him just one son, Minan, before she escaped him and sailed to Valinor. Haldir reckoned that Arthon's heart was not won that easily and his attitude was indeed strange for the one of the elven race. He never gave any words of grace to any of his true followers, but nonetheless they would follow him to death, if they had a chance to loose their lives for him. He often moved to live near Mordor, exploring the evil was his specialty and he tracked orc's movements everywhere those foul creatures seemed to venture. His skill had kept Thranduil's realm safe all those years they have been friends and Haldir only hoped that his ways would save Imladris too.
"I have to think about it. But I know that I would have to agree to this marriage at the end. How could Galadriel plan this without me? I just don''t understand."
Elrond asked his friend but he knew Haldir knew no answer to it. Galadriel is the most mysterious elf of them all and almost all the things she did were indeed surprising.
"I cannot explain my Lady's doings, but I reckon she knows what she is doing and that she is trying to help you. Now you must tell me this, my friend. When did Glorfindel get married to Erestor? I didn't receive any invitation to their wedding, if there was one that is." Haldir asked in wonder and Elrond responded with a smile on the face.
"Many things happened since you didn't see us, Haldir. Glorfindel and Erestor didn't get married a natural way. They were bounded by the life force and Erestor was the one who had given away his energy after Glorfindel got wounded. They are bonded since yesterday." Elrond watched as Haldir's expression changed to surprised one as he drank some water from the glass.
"But. Is Glorfindel all right. Is he awake? Did Erestor succeed in pulling him back all the way. I heard about the sharing of the life force but I never heard of participants succeeding in pulling the other one back."
Haldir asked with concern in his voice and Elrond nodded as he started speaking again.
"They are all right, just a little bit exhausted. Erestor had succeeded and Glorfindel is alive because of him. I thank Valar for being merciful and sparing my friends. I could take you to them so you can see them if you would like, but we will save that for tomorrow, I think. You must rest first. Tell me Haldir, why did you avoid coming to Imladris all this time. Erestor, Glorfindel and I had missed you so." Elrond asked his friend and he had a rising suspicion why Haldir had kept himself to Lothlorien.
Haldir dreaded that question because he had remembered the reason why he didn't want to venture to Imladris to many times before.
"I was so busy at the borders, mellon-nin. I didn't have any time because defending my home from foul creatures is my life's choosing. That calling doesn't leave me time for anything else."
"But that is not the only reason why you have avoided this place for so long. Is it. Haldir, I am not blind and I have ears, and they pretty much hear all the rumors. You had lost someone all those years ago and now that person is here in Imladris. I have heard about you and Stinah and I can see the pain your soul bears. That is why you had refused to travel here in the past, because you didn't want to bump into your ex-lover."
Elrond deeply gazed at Haldir’s eyes and he saw discomfort Haldir showed in them.
"It is true that I had avoided this place because of him, but I couldn't bring myself to face him for so long. Stinah was the one I had loved all those years ago and my foolishness had cost me of his gentle comforting love. He had been the one I had suffered for, and my pain is still there, but I hide it well from prying eyes. I will keep this visit short Elrond and I hope you would understand the urgency to escape in haste." Haldir told all of this to his friend, hopping that the other wouldn't mind if he didn't stay here for too long.
"Haldir, I would ask of you if you can stay longer because the truth is, I will need someone to turn to once I marry Arthon. You are the only one I can confide to and you cannot disappoint me and leave after only staying a short time. I know you have responsibilities and you have to serve your Lady but I know she wouldn't mind if you stayed any longer than usual. Don't run away from Stinah this time, Haldir. That is the best advice I can give you. You have to fight for his heart once again if you truly love him. Running won't solve any mistakes you made in the past." Elrond advised Haldir on that matter and he secretly prayed his friend's visit would be long. He knew that Haldir would be there for him, and he would try to help Haldir in his quest of finding his love again.
*~*~*~*~*~
Two days had passed in the Imladris and life had gone as usual, full of ups and downs, full of happiness and disappointments, but it had seemed that all the days were like that.
Semar was tired and he walked towards his room, hoping to spend those days he had off the borders in peace. For all that time he had spent on the borders he had been Stinah's comfort and he had watched the other's back, as broken his heart suffered in the remembrance of the past. Semar was now emotionally exhausted himself and he suspected that something would happen to him again. He was never the one who had a moment of rest and he knew that this time it would be the same. He entered his stuffy room and he sighed into the darkness, but something was feeling weird because his room looked like it had been occupied. Moans were coming from his bed and he opened the shutters of his room to see what was going on inside of it. What he saw was shocking indeed, and he closed his eyes not believing that sight. Two elves were rutting on the bed, both were silver haired and Semar assumed they were from Lothlorien.
"What is going on in here. What are you doing in my room?" He yelled at them and they stopped as they finally saw someone at the door.
"This is your room." The one on the bottom responded breathlessly." We were assigned to this room because they didn't have any to spare. They placed all the visitors from Lothlorien to these quarters and they moved all the border guards from Imladris closer to the library. I think you have to go to the chief librarian to check where you are staying for the time we are here." Semar couldn't believe this. He had predicted that something like this would happen only to him. He was tired of his bad luck and he was mad. This was his room and how dared that librarian prat lend it to someone else. He furiously closed the door behind those two and he strolled to the library, cursing behind his breath. He wondered where he would be staying, and he hoped that he would have that room all to share by himself. He asked the passing she-elf where librarian was located but she told him that he was away for that time and that listings of the rooms assigned to guards were on his table. Semar checked his name and what he dreaded the most was shown on that list. His name was beside Huor's room and his eyes widened as he viewed that list again. He remembered that Huor was in the healing rooms and he hoped that the other elf would stay there for a long time. He wanted to be alone while taking his rest and he only hoped that Calaglin didn't release him yet from the healing quarters. He turned and with reluctance he started walking to his assigned room. He came to the door and he peered inside before he opened it, sighing in relief as he found no one there. What he wondered the most about this room was, why were the candles lit if no one was on the sight. He came to conclusion that maybe the other guard had taken Huor's room, and Semar's tired body slumped to the chair, taking his deserved rest for a while. He heard some commotion behind the bathroom door and he went to check who was there. He wanto sto stay in this room because his tiredness was great and he didn't want to search any more for available rooms. He would sleep on the floor if he had to, but he was not moving and that was final.
He opened the door of the bathroom and he met Huor's eyes, who was standing weakly beside the tub filled with water. Huor looked terrible and he had towel wrapped around his waist, and Semar had wondered why Huor was here when he should be in the healing room. He saw that the bandage on Huor's stomach was smudged with the blood and he shockingly sighed as he realized what the other was about to do.
Bath was not on the list for the one with healing wound and Semar grabbed that foolish elf before he took the dip into the water.
"Huor what in the Arda are you doing. You cannot bathe because your wound is still fresh, you foolish elf." Semar asked the other elf and he opened his mouth in shock as he saw the others tired eyes. Semar lowered him into a sitting position and he went to fetch a blanket, covering the other elf with it.
"Semar, what are you doing here. You should be at borders." Huor asked him and he looked him, not believing that the object of his present attention was really here.
"Well, I am back. I have to stay in your room for a while, because mine is taken. Tell me, why did they release you from the healing room earlier than they should. You still look terrible." Semar wondered and he brushed the other's face in the caring gesture. He realized what he had done and he cursed his movements, because they betrayed him when he was with this elf.
"They didn't release me. I escaped. I don't want to be in there. Those rooms seem so uncomfortable, and I wanted to heal inside of my own room." Huor openly gazed at the beauty Semar represented and he wanted to tease the other one until he provoked that angry expression he loved to see on Semar so much. But he didn't have any strength to do that.
"Hmm you should have stayed, but I cannot blame you for escaping. I would have done the same. Come on, let's get you into the bed. Your body feels so cold." Semar gently smiled at the other elf as he pulled him up and they started walking toward the bedroom. They walked slowly and Huor was seeking the support from Semar's body feeling like he was going to fall any minute.
"I always hoped you were the one taking me to ted, ed, darling. My dream had indeed come true." Huor teasingly retorted and Semar's face grew deeply red as he gently deposited his patient on the bed.
"You can still dream, Huor, but that will never happen nor your dream will ever come true." Semar responded with his soft voice and Huor smiled at him, savoring the sound of Semar's voice.
"Are you so sure that it will never happen, darling." He asked as he turned his head to gaze into those deep blue eyes and Semar felt that his throat had gone dry from the ferocity of that passionate gaze.
