Choices

It had taken a suprisingly short amount of time to locate the appropriate herbs and incense needed for this task. Since Estel waman man and his fea would not go to where elves did Elladan would cast his fea forth. Estel would wait and make sure Elladan lived and get help if needed. The thunder crashed outside as they huddled on the floor of Elladan's chambers. Estel lit the incense as Elladan knelt and whispered the words. Once that was done he consumed the deadly herbs. Estel caught him as he fell on the floor barely alive. There was nothing to do now but wait, hope and pray.

Elladan groaned as he stood and looked around at his surroundings. He was in a white marble room with no furnishings except a few tapestries on the walls. As he turned a door opened and he stepped through it and walked down the hallway. When he got to the end he gasped. At the end of this huge new room there was a single being and once it sighted him it strode to the middle and waited for him. Determined to finish this task he walked up to the being. He was suprised to see it was Gil-Galad!

"You have the look of Elrond yet you are not him." Gil-Galad said as he cocked his head to the side.

"I am his son Elladan."

"You come from the left hand path Elladan you must have killed yourself."

"Aye I did."

"Why?"

"My grandfather, Celeborn, had twins with his husband only one child died. I am here to bring him back with me."

"You think it is that easy?"

"No but I have to try."

Gil-Galad smiled and vanished into thin air. Startled Elladan looked around and wondered what the hell was going on.

Celeborn gently took his daughter from Haldir and laid her in a cradle that was in front of the fire. Elrond and Erestor had taken the body of his son to be prepared. In a few days when Haldir was strong enough they would bury him. Celeborn turned and smiled when he saw that Haldir had drifted off. The day had been trying and they were all exhausted but he knew he would find no sleep this night. He wished that he knew why his family seemed doomed. Why did the Valar torment him so? They still hadn't named their daughter but he didn't want to do that alone. It became to much for him to bear. Celebron sat on the window ledge and he cried all he could for al that he had lost. It wasn't fair for Haldir to suffer when the curse had been on him and Galadriel. Becuase she was a ring bearer the doom of the Noldor had been lifted of her but what about him? Maybe a bit remained and that was enouo tao taint his future forever.

"You have passed the test Son of Elrond." a booming voice filled the room.

"Test?"

"You showed me you are selfless and practical. State your case."

"My grandfather has suffered enough! I want his son to be returned to life!"

"You think it is that easy?"

"I know there will be a price but I am willing to pay it!"

"Even if it be your life?"

"Yes"

"And Elrohir's?"

"Elrohir? Nay he is expecting a child!"

"You are twins your fea are intertwined. You die he dies."

"You cannot ask me to make such a choice!"

"I just did."

Elladan bit back a sob as he contemplated his choice.
