~Chapter Twenty: Sinful Reasoning~
Once they had all dressed the twins turned to the others, asking them if they knew the way back or if they needed guidance.
Haldir and Legolas regarded the twins and admitted they were not quite sure how to get back to the Imladris palace from where they were now. Rumil however did not answer, his face was bright red and his hands tightly clenched alarming Legolas as well as the twins.
Elrohir moved to him the first, “Rumil? What ails you?”
Rumil looked at him, hate flashing in his eyes, “The elf that did it to me, the one that abused me and my brother, he’s standing right outside this door”
Elladan looked at him in disbelieve, “Glorfindel would not do such a thing, he is always most kind he wouldn’t hurt someone like that”
Rumil’s eyes flashed to the other twin, “Who then, if not one of my supposedly best friends, would believe me?”
Legolas looked at Rumil and answered timidly, “I do believe you Rumil, I saw your fear and know ‘twas no lie. You have no reason to blame Glorfindel if it wasn’t the truth”
Rumil looked to Legolas, glad that at least one of them believed him, he smiled when his brother wrapped an arm around his waist, “You know I believe you little brother, you would not lie about such things”
Elrohir didn’t know what to believe, he wouldn’t doubt his friend yet he had not known Glorfindel to bring harm to anyone except for his enemies.
Elladan however was not impressed, “Let’s ask him in and allow him to tell us what he thinks of it”
Rumil narrowed his eyes at Elladan, “Do it, in the end remember the truth and the choice you make now”
While Haldir held Rumil who was obviously trying to control his anger Elladan went to open the door and invited Glorfindel in.
“Lord Elladan, may I ask what is the matter?”
Meanwhile Orophin scrambled up to bow before his lord, lord Celeborn, who still waited patiently for an answer.
The blackhaired elf sat up, looking with big eyes at the situation unfolding before him as the lord of Lothlorien asked Orophin again what the meaning of this was, obviously having heard the sounds they made which were not at all loving ones.
Orophin looked at his lord and mumbled softly, “My apologies my lord, it meant nothing...I mean, it wasn’t...”
The blackhaired elf stood, looking at the lord, “What he means to say is that we both willingly participated in this act, but I understand we should have gone to a more private place. Our sincere apologies.”
Celeborn arched a brow but accepted the explanation none the less, “I am glad you realize that, such acts should not be had in public places” With that said he wished them a good day and continued his stroll through the gardens.
Orophin stared at the other elf in confusement, why would he stand up for him? For one that tried to bring him both physical as well as mental damage, “You should not have done that”
The elf looked at him, “You’re welcome”
Orophin arched a brow, “I’m not thankful, you did a foolish thing by saying what you did” With that he turned around and walked off, leaving a very amused elf behind.
The room had fallen quiet as Glorfindel entered, mixed emotions hung in the air. Nobody spoke all studying the goldenhaired elf that just walked in trying to determine whether or not he was indeed the evildoer Rumil said he was.
Elladan was the first to speak of, “Glorfindel, do you know that elf? Rumil is his name. He claims you took advantage of his body by persuading him with loving words and promises. He says that when he gave his virginal body up to you you took advantage of it and left without a second glance. Is this so?”
Glorfindel’s eyes moved to Rumil, a look of contemned on his face, “I know the marchwarden of Lothlorien, as well as I do his brothers. It is true we shared the bed once and that he allowed me to use his body. And yes, I did leave after that with no concern for him, but believe me, he enjoyed himself greatly.”
Legolas arched a brow, “No he didn’t you hurt him greatly and he found no pleasure in it, you werre selfish in your desire and left him hurting and unsatisfied while you moved on to do the same things to his brothers”
Rumil’s eyes moved to the Mirkwood prince in surprise, confused by the defense the elf gave him but content to know that someone there was with him in this.
Glorfindel looked at the prince through narrowed eyes, “If it were not for the valuable peace between your land and Imladris I assure you I would have killed you for your foolish words”
Haldir stepped forward, looking at Glorfindel, “I loved you once, you approached me with sweettalks, I didn’t want to be just a bedpartner but you wouldn’t settle for it to be more than that. My brother in his innocence was far more open to your sweettalks...he would have believed your every word because he wanted to believe it. You hurt him, hold no doubt about that. All of us here have seen what it has done to him then, we all saw his reaction to your voice. Elladan however chose not to believe it, he seems to think you’re a perfect angel”
Elrohir looked at Haldir then at his brother before standing up against Haldir, “You will not speak of my brother thus, he may have misjudged the situation but he does not deserve to be portrayed as a traitor”
Legolas moved between them, “Stop this nonsense, we are not the enemies of eachother, you know that. Elladan is not used to Glorfindel being that way, it’s only honorable of him to defend the Glorfindel he has come to know, however Haldir is defending his little brother from being called a liar. We all know he is not, we all saw his reactions to everything that happened here. Stop arguing, please...not now...Not after what went on here only moments before Glorfindel arrived, please?”
