Discomfort
Chapter 2:
After the normal bustling at customs for the American and Australian, Elijah and Dave were finally able to make their way to Dave’s temporary place.
Once they got their luggage into the cab’s trunk, they climbed in and drove away. The cityscape passed by as they sat in silence for awhile, before Dave spoke up. “Must be nice being back in the States, huh?”
Elijah just shrugged, mumbling, “Yeah, guess so.” Dave sighed and sat back, looking out the window as the buildings and cars continued to whiz by them.
“awww man, its terrible out there!” the cabbie exclaimed when other cars over took him in the lanes.
“Hey, mate…could you be a bit more careful? Always wanted my head cracked open!” Dave complained as he scanned the area, he noticed that a few of the windows of the brownstone were open and the distinct song of one Britney Spears was pouring out of it …loudly.
Pulling up to the brownstone’s curb in a typical shriek, causing the two of them to rock back against the seat hard.
“Oh good, I can hear that Maharet is here. I was hoping she would be. So need a little R and R after that hell with the movie campaign.” Dave stated, the thoughts of the last week flash before his eyes as he paid the cabbie before he sped away.
Elijah turned to him, “What do you mean, Maharet? I thought you were alone. I can’t handle any one right now other than you.” His last sentence had the distinct ring of whine and anger.
“I’m sorry Lij’…I wasn’t sure if Maharet would be here, she’s her own person and we just recently got together. She won’t be any trouble, come and meet her.” he said, practically dragging him.
They proceeded up the stairs and crossed the threshold. After dumping the suitcases on the floor in the hall, Dave showed Elijah around, going from room to room before they went looking for the source of the music.
A petite redhead, walking around bare foot and wearing torn baggy jeans and a equally torn black shirt with an upside down peace symbol in white, turned the corner from another room with a large basket of clothes, singing loudly.
Startled, she drops and jumped over the plastic pink basket, throwing herself into Dave’s arms, “Daisy! When did you get in? Ohhhh, I’ve missed you!” She scanned his tired face before kissing him hard on his mouth. The music clicked off and left an uncomfortable Elijah clearing his throat.
“Sorry mate, where are my manners. Elijah Wood, this is Maharet, she’s my woman.” Dave spoke with a grin.
Maharet held out her hand, “Forgive me; I have no idea where my manners go either…out the window I suppose.”
She smiled at Elijah, “It’s nice to meet you…wait, like Elijah Wood of the Rings fame? Holy shit!” She blushed before slapping her hand over her mouth. “I’m sorry, meeting people that I’ve watched their DVD’s like a gazillion times—is still so new to me and I haven’t figured out how to play it cool, not with my heart racing in my throat and my very obvious brain turning stupid on me.” she said, easily grinning again.
“Its alright, I’m quite used to it. I didn’t mean to interrupt your homecoming.” The shy young man explained.
“Bah.” she waved her hand at the implied interruption, “Daisy will get his rewards later than sooner. Again, ya’ll have to forgive my manners and my brain if I do that whole ‘star struck and blushing’ thing again; just give me a quick pop and hopefully, my brain will re-start and work again. I know ya’ll must be tired, how can I help out? Rest, food, shower or silence?” She grinned and chuckled, “Not every one is crazy about my choice in music.”
“All four sound great, let me show Lij where he’s bunking and….” Dave trailed off, as he wrapped his arms around Maharet’s waist to nibble on her neck, causing her to squeal, pushing at his shoulder.
“Daisy! Behave, right now Elijah would probably like to shower and get comfortable, am I right?” she smiled and looked to him for confirmation.
“Yea…that would be nice.” he wearily told her.
“Perfect then, Dave will show ya’ll to your room. Ya’ll have any ideas on what you want to have for dinner? I don’t have any pref…gentlemen’s choice.” she replied as they went off, arm-in-arm wrapped around each other’s waist, as they made their way to the guest room and not realizing Elijah hadn't followed them.
Elijah dropped himself onto the long overstuffed denim blue couch in the room, and slumped down with a long sigh. He didn’t think it would be so hard to see Dave with someone, but at least it was with someone of the female gender. He closed his eyes; already drained from the cab ride.
Once they were alone in the guest room, Dave spoke on what was on his mind. “Look, could you do me a favour? Lij really needs some peace and quiet. He’s been through a bad break-up and just wants to rest and recover.” Concern was written in her lover’s blue eyes.
Maharet smiled, “I wouldn’t dream of doing anything to pester Elijah…you know that, he’s your friend. I just want what you want.” She told him, picking up a pillow. “I’m no stranger to heartbreak.” She fluffed the plump pillow before smoothing the already wrinkle-free quilt.
He smiled at her nervous way of fixing the room that didn’t need it, “Alright then…what about my home-coming treat?” He gave her a devilish grin, which she returned.
“MMMM…I guess I could give you a small sample.” she crossed the space between them, threading her arms around his neck and rising on her toes before leaning in for a much longer passionate kiss than they got earlier.
Dave pulled her closer to him, deepening the kiss. She could feel how much he was enjoying this, so decided to tease him a bit more. She reached down, sliding her hand down his leg, her lips never leaving his. Her hand trailed up his inner thigh, and lightly caressed over his growing bulge. Dave moaned at the sudden attention to his groin.
She slowly pulled away from him, and looked at his gasping mouth. She grinned and winked, “There’s more of that...later.” She softly caressed his bulge again before walking out.
Dave sighed and leaned against the wall, “That woman will be the death of me!”
