No one heard the little Elf's screams as the fire burned into his back. If any did, they ignored it, continuing on with their own duties. It wasn't an unusual sound in the depths of the cavern-city of Thranduil.

Elladan and Elrohir sighed, already bored with their quest. Aragorn seemed to mirror his brothers in this respect and they considered turning back. Elrond wouldn't be too disappointed in them, they hoped. After all, they had been gone for three weeks already.
The camp they had set up was meager, a fire and their sleeping gear. The horses hadn't entered Mirkwood, so the trio left them with Beorn after they stopped by Radagast's home. And now, though the little fire was holding the darkness from the path, the great trees of Mirkwood seemed ominous in their attempt to intimidate any travellers.
"We will find no sleep tonight."
"If it really is 'night'," Aragorn muttered. The twins smiled and wondered if the annoying black squirrels were edible. The silence was broken by a sound from the brush and the twins drew their swords, fearing it to be one or more of the infamous spiders.
"Put your weapons down," came in halted Westron, heavily accented by a rustic form of Sindarin. "And stand by the fire."
When the twins didn't comply, a straight-shafted arrow pierced the soil at their feet and the order was repeated. This time, the twins obeyed and dropped their swords on the path, moving to stand by Aragorn. It wasn't until ten blonde Elves appeared from the forest's darkness that they realized how much trouble they were in.
Without a word to each other, three of the blondes tied the travellers' hands and blindfolded them. Two others picked up what was in the camp to bring with them, one put out the fire, and the rest waited to move.
"We are taking you to our haven, the city within King Thranduil's palace. I suggest you behave."
