misttan, thanks for the input, the story is quite long, so i thought i'd post it three chaps at a time, but for now i'll go to posting one chap at a time. if it gets to the point where the story keeps moving though I'll start posting multiple chapters again. cheers for the comment!! here's some more!
Chapter 4
"Elijah! Elijah over here darling!"
"Orlando! Billy! Look here!"
"Hey beautiful! What's your name? Who are you here with?" I felt Elijah's arm around my waist tighten as we made our way in front of the cameras. We didn't really stop at one particular spot, but every so often the boys would walk to a group and sign autographs. I'd stand back from them...not wanting to get in the way.
When Elijah came back to stand with me he leaned in, "So shall we tell them our news?" Before I could answer he led me over to the largest group of cameras. They all called for his attention...and he finally answered their questions. Placing his hand confidently around my shoulders he announced, "This is my neighbor and girlfriend Sarah. She moved here last week and we've gotten to know each other."
"Sarah! Look here darling!" I smiled in amazement as they suddenly wanted more pictures of me. "Elijah kisses her for us!" One bold man asked.
We blushed, and Elijah shook his head, "Come on guys! She's a woman, not an Oscar!" This got a laugh from the crowd of cameras, and earned him a light punch on the arm from me, which drew more laughs.
As the night wore on I felt as if I were in a fairy tale, a handsome date, glamorous guests...but as all good dreams do, it had to end. Soon we were saying our good-byes. Orlando had given me his mobile number, so had Billy and Dom. Sean’s daughter gave me a coloring she had done in the hotel room during the party. Elijah pulled me out of the room and into his waiting car in the back parking lot of the hotel.
"Did you enjoy yourself Sarah?" He asked.
"Oh yes, this has been the happiest day of my life." I smiled at him, and he took my hand as he drove. We were still dressed in our premiere clothes, but stopped at a Wendy's where he bought me a Milkshake. We sat in a booth and ate our fries and shakes, enjoying each others company. The night seemed to stretch on into eternity...but soon we were parked in my driveway. It was almost over.
"Sarah, can I admit something to you? It is very hard to say, and you hold my heart in your hand." He paused. "I like you, a lot. You are the first girl that I have met in a long time that seems to be interested in me...not my paycheck."
"Well...can't say it isn't a turn off either." I poked him in the ribs and smiled. "I am joking!" Soon, he too was laughing, and poking me in the stomach, trying to tickle me. I was glad to see that he wasn't immune to the tickles that I gave him.
We finally pulled ourselves out of the car and he walked me to my door. "May I kiss you good night?" He asked.
"Yes you may." He leaned forward and gave me a kiss on the lips. Nothing long or vulgar about it...but it was full of passion and love. We broke apart and I opened the door. Duchess leaped out and into Elijah’s waiting hands, soon giving him her own kisses. He handed her to me and I stood at the door as he got into his car and pulled out of the driveway. I went inside and changed into comfortable clothes. I turned on the TV to see a TV spot on the past nights festivities at the Hilton. I was embarrassed for a second as it dawned on me that I was the girl on Elijah's arm. "Mom's never going to believe this!"
I dug around in my purse for my book, long forgotten in the day’s chaos....only to find it missing!
As Elijah drove home, he couldn't help but think of the days events. How fate seemed to have sent him the perfect girl. Smiling to himself he switched on the radio to find the Beatles playing "I Want to Hold Your Hand". He began to sing. Unaware, that laying under the passenger seat was a faded and worn copy of the Fellowship of the Ring. When he pulled into his driveway he just sat in his car for a moment. He turned to stare at the empty passenger seat. "This is my neighbor and girlfriend, Sarah." The words turned in his mind, each time sounding more and more right. They had surprised him...she was after all only someone he'd met that morning. He smiled and picked up a few stray French fries that'd made their way into his car. When his hand strayed under the seat he came across her book. Smiling he flipped through the pages, seeing where she'd obviously reread passages over and over due to the more prominent creases in the top corners. Then he got a brilliant idea....
