Chapter 2
Chapter 2 WITHOUT LOOKING BACK
~*~*~
On the day of their graduation the girls had their bags packed, and waiting in the trunk of their car. When the ceremony was over, they went straight to the airport. They had just enough time to get through the security then get to there seats on the plane, before it was taxiing down the runway.
When they finally got to London Sean was waiting on them at the gate. From the airport they went to get something to eat. They had spent 18 hours in the air and they were starving. When they were done Sean and the twins went back to Sean’s apartment, where the girls were going to be staying for a few days.
When they got there, Sean went into his closet and took out the letter that Kayla had sent for them. When he got back to the living room the twin were both asleep sitting on each end of the sofa. He smiled and sat down in a chair and watched them for a while. Trying to memorize every little detail of them. Sean’s heart contracted a little at the thought of never seeing them again.
They both had pale blond hair and baby blue eyes. He guessed that they took the tallness after their father. For both he and Kayla were short only reaching about 5”6. Where as the twins stood well over 6 foot tall, and very slim of body. Both girls were very good in sports and excelled at everything that they tried.
Sean smiled and sighed. He would miss them when they left. He knew thattheythey did indeed find a way back to Middle earth, they would not be coming back any time soon, if at all. He was very temped to ask them to take him with them. But he had his life here. He did not want to burden them with him tagging alone.
He knew that Kayla had made sure that they knew how to take care of them selves. They had taken the art of karita , archery, and sword fighting lessens from the time that they were five years old. They were very good, in a lethal sort of way.
He him self had never so much as taken a self-defense class in his life. So he would just stay where he was. After a while he went and got some covers out of the closet and laid them across the girls. After that, he laid the letter their mother had left for them out on the table in front of the sofa, he went on to bed him self.
He woke up at daybreak the next morning to the sound of the girls laughing and making planes. So he got up and went into the living room and sat down in his chair and lessened to their excided chatter.
“So we need to buy some cloth and make our clothing.” Sierra said while making a list on a piece of notebook paper.
“Mother once told me that you were keeping a foot locker she sent you for safe keeping.” Keira said looking over at Sean.
“Oh yes, it is in my walk in closet.” He said thoughtfully. “But she didn’t send me a key to it.”
“It was in the letter she sent you for us.” Keira replied smiling.
“Well in that case follow me.” Sean smiled and got out of his seat and headed off to his bedroom. The locker was in the back of his closet under a lot of junk. It took them a few minutes to get it out of the closet then they sat it down on his bed. Sierra opened the lock and lifted lid lid, peering inside.
“Oh my god!” gasped Keira lifting out a long bow and then a quiver of arrows. Sierra took out one of the two swords that were inside as well. They were some clothing and a few other things in there as well. The last thing that they found in the locker was a stack of letter that their father wrote to their mother many years ago. They spent the next several hours pouring over them many times almost until they knew them by heart.
The next morning the twins went off to the market, to buy the cloth that they would need to make their clothes. Within two days they had dresses, leggings and tunics. When the day came for them to leave their uncle Sean’s house they were all in tears.
Sean drove them to the park on the out skirts of London and let them out. It was very late and not that many people were about at that time of night. And it was a good thing, for every time Sean looked at them he burst out in laughter.
They looked like they had just stepped out of a Peter Pan movie. They were dressed in leggings of black, and blue silver tunics. They both had their bows and quivers strapped to their backs, and their swords attached to their hips. Last but not least, dark brown leather boots that reached to their knees. Kayla had left them a set of matching daggers that once belonged to their father. Both girls had one in their left boot.
Sean got out of the car to help them get their backpacks out of the trunk. After making sure they had everything that they were going to need, they shouldered the packs and turned to Sean. The girls hugged Sean tightly then turned and walked away with out looking back.
The girls followed the map their mother had left them for several miles. When they come to a path that was not on the map. It took them quite a while, to find the right path to take. After several hours of searching, they finally found entrance to the cave that would lead them to middle earth.
Kayla told them in her letter that once they got into middle earth, they would only be about three miles to where she had met their father. She said that it was in a place called Lothlorien. Kayla told them that the woods were very beautiful, looking around the twins had to agree. They had never before seen anything like it.
She also told them to be very careful, that the woods of Lorien were closely guarded. That the elves in which guarded those woods were very light of foot. She said that you would never know that they were there, until they wanted to revile them selves to you.
Once they were away from the cave, they were in awl of their surroundings. The trees were the tallest, they had ever seen. From the ground it looked as if they reached up to the clouds. And in someplaces they did. The leaves were of gold in color and the bark of the trees slightly glowed soft silver in Ithill’s light.
As they walked on if Keira could didn’t know better, she would have sworn that the trees were speaking to them. Welcoming them home at long last. She smiled and lightly ran her hand across the bark on the nearest tree and sighed in contentment. She had never felt piece quite like she was feeling in these enchanted woods before.
She found herself wondering what the elves were going to be like. Often during their childhood, she would try to picture the woods that their mother had described to them. Nothing that she could have dreamed up ever came close to this place. She smiled again and looked to Sierra, who was in in awl of their surrounds.
A noise off to their left alerted the twins, that they were not alone. They drew their bows and nooked an arrow into position. But it was only a deer nibbling on some brush off to their left. Both girls chuckled softly watching the dear for a few minutes, then continued on their way. In the direction that they hoped would lead them to the Elvin city their mother spook so highly of.
Not ten steppes from where they were watching the dear, they were surrounded by tall blond haired elves, with arrows pointed at their heads. Both girls held up their hands. Hoping to show the guardians of these woods, they were on threat to them. Both girls hesitantly looked at each other then back at their captors.

Haldir point of view
~*~*~
Haldir sighed as he sat in his spot high above the forest floor, in one of many of the Galadhrim’s watch talons. It was just after dawn and not much was happing in the golden wood that he did not know of. He was tired of the boredom. Every day it was the same old thing. Endless hours of idly sitting on their perches, watching the borders of Lórien.
They had had a peaceful watch for quite a while after the fall of the dark lord. He heated the thought that, it all could end at any given time. Haldir’s head snapped up when he heard two female voices coming from the direction of the crystal caverns. Strange things had happened in that place over the years. There was one time that he could barely remember, just after he had become a warden. King Oropher’s young wife had disappeared in the caverns just after his death.
He alerted the others with a soft birdcall. Then leaped from tree to tree stocking ever closer to the caverns, and the voices that were inside. ‘What are elleths doing in those caverns, and so far away from the city?’ Haldir thought to himself. ‘How did they get past the wardens standing guard at the city gates?’ by the time that he reached the edge of the woods, two elleth walked out into the open.
His first sight of the elleths took his breath away. Orophin jumped onto the branch next to him and was staring open mouthed as well. They were defiantly not from Lorien. He would have noticed them if they were. They were laughing and talking in the western tong of man very fluently, almost too fluently.
“What are they saying brother,” Orophin asked gazing down at the elleths walking below the tree that they were in.
“The one on the left is telling the other to be watchful that the guardians of this land are very sneaky.” Haldir smirked. “And that they would never know that we are there until it was too late.”
“Now I wonder who told them such a thing?” Orophin snorted. Almost losing his balance. If his brother had not reached out and caught him he would have landed in an ungraceful heap on the forest floor, right in front of the two maidens in question.
“Easy there brother!” chuckHaldHaldir. “I always knew that an elleth would someday be the death of you!”
“Oh go bite a dragon would you!” Snapped Orophin in a huff… but then a wicked smile washed over his face. “I would be the happiest elf in all of aldra to die between the two of them.”
“Indeed, as would I.” Haldir chuckled “Come we must see what they are doing here in our realm.”
Haldir motioned for the elves to follow but not to show them selves until he gave the command. Then slipped off into the shadows watching the twin elleths walk deeper into the golden woods.
As he drew closer to the twins he was concentrating on staying out of sight, when the lady of the light touched his mind. //Haldir you are to bring the twins to me. They are the missing princesses of Mirkwood. Their return could be what we need to restore peace between our two realms. //
//That could also help bring Rumil and Legolas together. // Haldir mused.
// You are right in that March warden. // Galadriel replied thoughtfully.
Haldir smiled giving the signal for his wardens to decent down to the forest floor and surround them. Within half a minute the twins were holding their hands up in the air. Showing that they were no threat to them. He smiled again then dropped to the soft ground. Pulling his face into a mask of indifference.
Keira looked at the Elvin warrior in front of her. Trying to smile, but found that her body would not respond to her commands.
She looked quickly to her right at her sister, who also had an arrow in her face. She was startled when one of the warriors stepped out of the shadows and into the light.
“Who are you and what are you doing in the lady’s wood?” The elf demanded.
Keira turned toward the voice and said in a strong confident voice, “I am Keira and this is my sister Sierra. We have come hoping to find some one who could help us find out father.”
“And who might that be maiden?” the elf demanded in a cold and argent voice.
“Oropher was his name.” Sierra said in an equally argent voice.
The elf in question raised an eyebrow and looked her over from head to toe. Silently appraising her with his eyes. Then he turned to Keira doing the same thing. After a few minutes he smirked at Sierra.
“You will follow me. The lady of the Golden Wood wishes to speak with you.” With that being said he turned and started walking down the path in front of them. The girls had no choice but to follow him.
