To Protect a Witness
Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Viggo was starting to get worried. Orlando should have been home
hours ago. He was startled out of his thoughts by the ringing of the
phone.
He lunged for it and prayed Orlando would be on the other
end. "Hello?"
"Viggo?" he breathed a sigh of relief as he heard his Orli's sweet
voice on the phone.
"Orlando. Baby, are you okay? Where are you?"
"Viggo, listen to me, I need you to come to the police station now!
You have to get out of the house!" Orlando's voiced was full of panic
as he spoke.
"Why-"
"Viggo, please. You have to come NOW! Don't wait a second longer!
And don't open the door for anyone!"
"I'm on my way, angel. Don't worry." He quickly hung up the phone
and grabbed his keys. Just as he was about to head toward the front
door, someone rang the doorbell. He cautiously peeked out the living
room window. Two men wearing long coats were standing at the door.
One of them rang the bell again.
Viggo immediately knew that these were obviously the men Orli was
af of of him opening the door for. He crept silently to the kitchen
door. As soon as he entered the kitchen, he heard the men forcefully
enter the house. He opened the kitchen door as quietly as possible
and sped toward his car. He jumped in and started the engine.
Knocking it in reverse, he put the pedal to the metal and burned
rubber. As he drove away, he saw through the mirror the men rushing
out of the house and pelting him with bullets. Luckily, they only
managed to hit his back window.
He sent a silent thanks to Orlando and wondered if his lover knew how
big of a role he had played in saving his life.
