I do not like this
Chapter two I do not like this!
Elladan stretched luxuriously and he knew he had a goofy smile on his face.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty.”
Elladan opened his eyes and looked warmly at his twin. “Morning Ro. How late is it?”
Elrohir laughed. “Not as late as it looks. About nine in the morn.”
Elladan frowned. “Than why do you look like you’ve been up for hours?”
Elrohir shrugged. “Because I have. I had trouble sleeping.”
Elladan sat up and embraced his twin. “When will you stop worrying about me? I am well, Ro. Really. Sleep was all I needed. Why did you torment yourself when I told you that at least three times?”
Elrohir grinned and smiled, allowing Elladan to pull him in his arms. “Because it’s who I am.” He sighed regretfully. “But that’s not why sleep eluded me.” He placed the letter in Elladan’s hand. “I found this before your door last night.”
Elladan frowned. “Last night?” His memory slowly became alive and he vaguely recalled going to his room and to bed, but he did not recall any letters anywhere.
Elrohir nodded. “Aye, I checked on you before turning in myself. I don’t know how long it’s been there. Nor have I read it.”
Elladan sighed and opened it. “Návat nás sinya?”
Elrohir nodded. “Nás ve má minya.”
Elladan shrugged. “I wouldn’t know, Ro. I was too tired to focus my eyes. I shall have to reread it, I guess.”
He opened the letter and a blush formed on his face, making Elrohir frown and sit back up. The younger twin remained silent but his eyes conveyed his curiosity and Elladan smiled at him. “It’s a clue.”
Elrohir gasped and beamed with happiness. “Really? What does it say? What kind of clue?”
Elladan smiled and read out loud:
Elladan vanima,

He frowned and jumped from the bed and retrieved the first note. “Elrohir, I do not like this.”
Elrohir looked puzzled at the words but ignored them. “I don’t see how it can be a clue. There’s no clue in the words.”
Elladan cocked his head. “Really, gwanunig tithen, you are so dense sometimes. He saw me last night! If I remember correctly I did not see anyone on my way back from the dining room. So if we figure out who saw me before, we know who it might be.”
He sat down and started counting. “Let’s see, besides us there were four servants there, and oh, the cook walked in as well. That’s five and Lindir makes seven. And before we walked in we passed three elves from town. Aiya, that’s way too many. And four females. I hope it’s none of them.”
Elrohir laughed at his words. “It is an improvement from the entire valley, don’t you say?”
Elladan laughed and nodded.
“Is it too late to join father?”
Elrohir shook his head. “Not if we leave now. Come on.”
Elladan nodded, quickly put on his boots and brought the letters. Elrohir’s funny look made him explain. “I told you, I do not like this. Maybe father, Erestor or Glorfindel know the handwriting.”
Elrohir nodded in understanding. “One thing though: why don’t you like this? Don’t tell me you have a thing against a secret admirer?”
Elladan laughed but shook his head. “No, it’s the words, Ro. I don’t know… I guess I can’t explain. It’s more a feeling, but something feels wrong.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Come on, we’re late.”
Elrond smiled at his lover. “I don’t think Elladan will be there. He looked real tired last night. He will sleep in late.”
Erestor shook his head. “No, he’s always been an early riser, you know that. Aye, he was tired and needed a good night’s rest. But I do believe the knowledge of not being expected at breakfast did the trick and relaxed him enough to make his sleep deep. I daresay we’ll see him at breakfast after all.”
Elrond embraced him tenderly and smiled. “I’d much rather stay in bed a little longer.”
Erestor shook his head. “And listen to my stomach I suppose? Come on, I am hungry.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elrond laughed as he followed his beloved inside. One look told him Glorfindel was the only one. The blond stood respectfully and smiled. “You two look refreshed. I don’t see that tired look on your faces anymore. Don’t tell me you are settling?” Erestor glared at him with full intensity but it had never did much to Glorfindel so the blond merely continued smiling.
Elrond shook his head at the antics. “Must I endure this every morn?”
Glorfindel nodded. “I have to make sure things are all right between you. What friend would I be if I didn’t?”
Elrond sighed. “You know very well we’ve adapted. And that’s all I am saying on it.”
Glorfindel pouted. “You’re no fun. Where’s the time you exploded, telling me your love life was none of my business?”
Elrond smiled warmly at the memories. “Far behind us.” Which was a fortune for the blond, for although none mentioned it now, there had been a time when either Elrond or Erestor chased him through the corridors, armed with a drawn bow. Elrond grinned as the memory of a running Glorfindel resurfaced.
The ruler of Imladris closed his eyes to ban the memories and focus on today. “I think we can start. Elladan will sleep in late and I think Elrohir will prefer to have breakfast with his twin.” He signalled for breakfast to be served and halted a servant when he was being served. “Please see to it that a tray is delivered at Elladan’s rooms at eleven and…” He shook his head when he saw his sons enter the room and momentarily closed his eyes. “Never mind.” He waved the servant away and studied his sons.
Elrohir looked a bit tired, but that was to be expected. And he was pleased to see Elladan fully awake and well. “Elladan, I am glad you have not gotten sick.”
Elladan grinned. “Told you I merely needed sleep. Really, ada, I already have Ro worrying about me.” He reddened when his stomach growled rather loud and, instead of being embarrassed, he simply attacked his food.
Glorfindel smiled at him. “I had planned to take you with me for the patrol, but I think we should postpone that, Elladan.” Elladan looked at him and his eyes begged him to reconsider but Glorfindel shook his head. “Nay, Elladan, I think you need to take it easy today. You need some time to restore your energy.”
Elladan now looked at his father but he looked just as determined as Glorfindel and the twin sighed defeated. “I was tired, not sick.”
He crossed his arms and his eyes twinkled when he felt the letters. But immediately he felt his earlier concern and worry return and re-established contact with his father. “Ada, can I ask you something personal?”
Elrond nodded. “I hope you’re not asking me to send the others away?”
Elladan shook his head. “Nay, I need their advice too. You see…” he hesitated but Elrohir nudged him encouraging and he continued. “I received a love letter.”
Elrond beamed and clapped his hands. “Really? Who? Oh, Elladan, I am so happy.” Erestor placed a restraining hand on Elrond’s arm. “Calm yourself. There must be a problem or Elladan would not address it to us, but wait a while. They are about to remove our plates.”
Elladan nodded and waited until the servants were done and they were once again alone. Really alone, for the servants had left this time instead of staying near the door but within the room.
He retrieved the letters and handed them over. Elrond frowned. “I thought you said one?”
Elladan nodded. “Aye, the second is more a result of the first. Do you perhaps know the hand? Ro and I don’t recognize it.”
Erestor smiled. “A secret admirer then. How adoringly mysterious.”
But Elrond and Erestor didn’t recognize it at all. Glorfindel took a quick look at it as well and shook his head. “None of my soldiers.”
Elrond looked sad. “I’m sorry, Elladan. Perhaps he or she will reveal himself later?”
Elladan shrugged. “I doubt that. Could you…would you read the letters? Something feels wrong about them.”
Elrond frowned but he complied. He blinked after he had devoured the words. He waited for Elladan’s approval before handing the letters to Erestor, who took his turn at reading. One look between the two was enough to confirm each other’s suspicions.
Elrond sighed and moved closer to Elladan. “Something is indeed wrong. If only we knew who it is.” Elladan’s eyes widened and he looked shockwhicwhich prompted Erestor to hurriedly explain and sooth the twin. “You see, the words seep with sadness and unworthiness. Whoever wrote it must have been in love with you for a long time, otherwise these feelings would not have crept into his soul, not would they be so deep. It’s why he, or she, apologizes for even taking up your time, as if it is beneath you to give it.”
Elladan nodded. “Aye, that’s it. I couldn’t put my finger on but I didn’t like it when I read it. But how do we find out who it is? We must help.”
Elrond nodded. “Aye, but we can only keep our eyes open and pray something happens to reveal the truth.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The elf closed the door behind him and leaned against it, his face showing his happiness. /He’s not ill./ He resumed his old pacing but soon sat down behind the desk again. “I need to explain. I just need to.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elladan frowned when he saw Elrohir’s pondering look and wondered what was on his twin’s mind. But when he asked Elrohir shook it off as not important.
This he would not share with Elladan. He sighed and prayed to the Valar he was wrong, for if he wasn’t trouble was inevitable. /But it has to be him. He’s look was too short to even see, let alone recognize. And the way he looked at Elladan. No, it has to be him./
He nearly groaned out loud but remembered just in time his twin was walking beside him. /But how do I act? What do I do?/ He smiled as the answer came to him immediately.
“So, what are we going to do?”
Elladan grinned. “I thought I would stay in the garden, since I’m ordered to take it easy. I can assume you’ll join me than?”
Elrohir nodded. “Aye, but we’ll need some cloaks and blankets. You find a spot and I’ll get them.”
Elladan smiled and nodded. “And would you bring the game as well?”
Elrohir nodded and ran off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elrohir jumped when he saw another note on Elladan’s table and nearly dropped everything he was holding. /A third? Must have been delivered during breakfast./ He quickly picked it up and returned to the garden.
