Behind Every Good Man There's a Better Woman

Things had calmed a bit. After alot of grumbling Gimli and Boromir had finally accepted the fact that Emalin would be joining then. Gimli didn't really mind but he would argue about anything.
e hoe hobbits had settled down to nap and as Aragorn looked around he realized one was missing.

"Where's Frodo?" He asked.

Ema glanced to her right. "Down the shore, that way. Something troubles him."

Aragorn moved to find the hobbit but Gimli's voice stopped him. "Why not send the little miss after him? A woman's touch and all that rubbish."

"Little?" Emalin questioned as she stood towering over the dwarf. He huffed a bit but didn't get a chance to retort as Ema wondered off in the direction she had said Frodo went. She found the halfing sitting under a tree staring off into no where. "Frodo?"

He turned his face toward her and she could see the tracks his tears had left.

"What is it, little one? What's wrong?" She asked moving forward and kneeling beside him.

"Nothing, everything. I don't know. It's all just too much. This mission, life, everything, and now Gandalf is gone."

"Gandalf?" She asked.
fri friend of ours. He was helping us but he's gone now. He was killed. He died saving us."

"Then you shouldn't be sad, Frodo. He wouldn't want it. You say he died protecting you. He perished so you could live and finish your journey. So live. Don't let yourself wither away like this."

"How? He's all i can think about. How he must have suffered."

"Don't Frodo. The dead have it easy. It's the living that suffer. Those who have to carry on in their wake. But you do have to carry on." Emalin stood then held a hand out to Frodo. He took it and she pulled him to his feet then wrapped an arm around his shoulders. "I know it feels terrible now, little hobbit, but i promise you it will get better and soon when you think of Gandalf it won't be painful. You'll only think of the good times, the fond memories. Try to focus on that."

Frodo nodded. "I'll try, Ema. Thank you."

"Your welcome. Now, go on back with the others and get some rest. You need it."

He nodded again then moved back along the shore towards the fire.

"That was kind of you." Legolas said as he emerged from the trees. He'd been patroling the area when he heard Frodo and the other elf talking.

She shrugged gracefully and moved to his side. "All quiet?"

"Yes."

"Good. Then come, sit by the fire with me. Tell me of Mirkwood." She took his hand and they walked back to the fellowship.

They talked until Aragorn asked Legolas to do another patrol. He agreed so the elf moved off and Aragorn lay down to sleep. Ema dropped off soon after.

awokawoke as someone brushed a hand over her cheek, she opened her eyes eyes to find Legolas leaning over her. The fire had died down so that only hot embers remained and they cast shadows over the handsome prince's features. She stared up into his eyes for a moment then parted her lips to speak but two long fingers placed over her mouth killed the words. He leaned in closer and spoke in her ear very quietly.

"Wake the others. Quietly but quickly. There's trouble."
