Where am i?

Ch 2- Where am I?

Temperance woke with sunlight shining in her eyes.

"Turn off the sun!" She growled and buried her face in the pillow. The sun continued to shine so she got up. Throwing back the covers she sat on the edge of the bed.

"Where's the floor?" she asked swinging her legs, and feeling only air. Frowning she looked down.

"Oh there it is!" she mumbled and slid to the ground. Still half-asleep she walked to the bathroom, but instead of finding the bathroom she found a wall.

"OW!" she said her face still smashed against the wall. Rubbing her sore nose she turned to look about the room.

"It wasn't dream!" she thought. The room was filled with sunlight. It was a beautiful unlike anything she had ever seen. The colors in the room were lavender and yellow with a few accent colors thrown in here and there. The bed was huge, various pieces of furniture filled the airy room: a vanity, a couch like seat, and a small desk. A pair of glass doors, cover with sheer curtains, she could see led out onto a balcony. To her left was another door, hopefully leading into the bathroom. Temp hurried towards the door and opening it she found that it led out into a long corridor.

"Where am I?" she thought as she stepped out into the hall. Looking to her left and right she started to walk down it. She was no more than ten feet from her door, when another door opened. Out stepped a tall, blonde haired man; his clothes were much like the one she had met earlier. Temp froze as he turned to look upon her. He was gorgeous! His lovely blue eyes widen with shock. She frowned angrily when his gaze slid down her body. She opened her mouth to give him a let down, when she heard...

"OH! MY LADY!!!!!!!!! You must come back! You aren't dressed!" She turned to see a woman running towards her carrying something draped over her arm. Temp turned to look behind her to see whom the woman was talking to. The man in front of her stifled a chuckle.

"I believe she is talking to you." The man drawled elegantly.

"Me? Why would she be talking to me?" Temp asked him. He looked pointedly down at her. She followed his eyes; only to see herself scantily clad in a short, thin, dress-like garment.

"AH!" she shrieked and tried to cover herself. The man in front of her laughed again. Thankfully the woman reached her and threw the blanket she had been carrying over Temperance.

"You should be wandering off like that my lady." The woman said, wrapping the blanket tighter around her.

"Yes, it isn't proper for you to be running around half dressed." The man said amusement tingeing voicvoice. Temperance thoroughly offended despite his teasing manner, drew herself up. The maid seeing her reaction spoke up.

"It won't happen again my lord Haldir!" She said hurriedly. At the mention of that name Temperance started. Haldir must have must have seen her, because his elegant brow rose.

"See that it doesn't." He said regally.

"I will, sire" she assured. Haldir let his gaze fall back on Temp, who snorted and looked away, missing the taken aback look on his face. The maid went to scold her but Haldir stopped her with a wave of his hand.

"Come my lady, we must get you ready she is waiting." The maid said hustling her down the hall. Temperance looked over her shoulder at him as she walked away. Haldir was still watching her. She turned quickly around; give her atten the the maid as she was led into the room.

"Who is waiting?" She asked realizing what the woman had said.

"There is no time explain! You will be late and she doesn't like to be kept waiting." She said while shoving a dress over Temperance's head. Temp let the woman do as she pleased; she had too many thoughts running through her head to care.

"This can't be! I didn't just meet, Haldir!' she thought as the maid ran a brush quickly through her hair.

"There you are presentable, well at least for such a short time of preparation!" She said, standing back to study her work. Looking down Temp gave a horrified cry. She hunched her shoulders, looked at the confused maid.

"Whatever is the matter?" She asked.

"This dress is too tight!" Temp said motioning to the fitted bodice, and flowing skirt.

"No its perfect! Now you must go!" saidsaid pulling the reluctant Temp behind her. They hurried down many corridors before they reached the place Temp needed to be. The maid turned to her, giving her a once over.

"Alright! You can go in now!" she said after adjusting Temp's hair. Taking a deep breath she stepped into the room.

"I'ay. ay. I'm okay." She chanted as she walked into the huge room. She was looking about and didn't see the woman sitting not far from where she stood.

"Come closer, child." A feminine voice called over the short distant between them. Stifling her cry of shock Temperance whirled. Her eyes fell on a platform where a beautiful woman stood. Never had Temp seen a more beautiful woman. Her hair was a fine golden blonde, her eyes a clear blue. Temperance step back out of instinct.

"Come closer, my child. I mean you no harm." The woman said soothingly. Temp moved forward coming to stand before her. The woman smiled softly.

" I am Galadriel. What is your name?" came the softly spoken question

"Temperance. W- Where am I?" She asked nervously looking at the amazing creature in front of her.

"I think you know." Galadriel said.

"Perhaps you should tell me anyway." Temp said, watching as she moved closer.

"You are in Valinor, better known to you as the Undying Lands of the Elves." Galadriel said watching for Temp's reaction. Temperance stood stock still for a moment letting the statement sink in.

"It's not possible! That is all just a story! A- A movie!" Temp stuttered in disbelief.

"I am aware of that your world thinks of us as story. But as you can see, we aren't." Galadriel said making a sweeping motion with her arm, to include all that was around her for reference. Temperance shook her head stubbornly.

"No! It's not true! It's not possible. I tell you!" She said stomping her foot. Galadriel smiled sympathetically.

"I am afraid it is. You have managed to slip through a barrier that hasn't been past through in decades." Again Temperance, let this knowledge seep in.

"Alright, I'm here! So how do I get back?" Temp asked. Galadriel leaned forward and cupped her cheek.

"You cannot." She said sadly.

"What do you mean?" Temp asked her brow furrowing with confusion.

"What I should have said was, I cannot allow you to go back." She said placing emphases on the word allow. Temperance jerked away from her hand, as if stung.

"Why not?" she demanded, her voice quivering with trepidation.

"Once before someone like you came into this realm, and we allowed them to return to your world. Do you know who that person was?" Galadriel asked, her head tilting to side. Temp knew whom she was speaking of immediately."To"Tolkien." She said quietly. Galadriel smiled at her.

"Yes. Do you now see why you cannot leave? Tolkien tried to tell all, of our existence. Lucky no one believe it to be true. Thinking it was only his imagination"

"That is no reason to keep me here! If I went back and said that I had met Galadriel and bunch of elves, they wouldn't think you really existed. They would think I was crazy!" Temp cried.

"Still we cannot risk it." Galadriel said calmly. Temperance felt herself losing control.

"You cannot keep me here! You have no right! I have a family! You have to let me go!" She cried her voice laced with anguish.

"I am very sorry, Temperance but I cannot." Galadriel said sorrowfully. With a small cry Temp turned and ran from the room. Galadriel shook her head slowly.

"How did she take the news?" Galadriel looked up as her husband, Celeborn, enter the room.

"As well as anyone, I suppose. But it will but up to him to tell her what she needs to know." She said smiling when he reached her side.

"Are you sure she should know?" Celeborn asked taking her hand, leading her out on the terrace.

"Yes I believe it will make this easier for her." She said watching the girl run into the forest.
