Chapter 2
“Elladan, what did-“
“Silence Estel. You will go upstairs to your chambers and wait for us. We will join you momentarily. In the meantime you are to kneel in the centre of the room and think on your actions today. Were they worthy of a son of Elrond or representative of Imladris? Go.”
Chastised, the young man left, head bent, eyes tearful. When he was out of sight and earshot Elrohir turned to his brother and asked:
“You don’t think that was a little harsh, Ell? He was already upset because of Ada’s words. Did you have to be so abrupt?”
“Oh ye of little faith! There is method to my madness, ‘Ro. Ada has entrusted me to discern the truth behind Estel’s actions. I see no reason why I cannot find out this information as well as fulfil my fantasy – well, one of them anyway – do you?”
Realising his brother’s intent and that all he had said to Estel was just for show, a smile crept over his face.
“No reason at all, brother, no reason at all.” Remembering his twins earlier fantasy he suddenly frowned in confusion. Mindful of being overheard but too impatient to wait until they were alone to get answers, Elrohir sent his thoughts to Elladan as they moved towards the family quarters.
*Hang on a moment, Ell. You plan to spank the truth out of him? I don’t think that will work…He is far too tough to be brought low by a mere spanking!*
*Of course not, ‘Ro. The spanking, and incidentally my spankings are never ‘mere’ anything, will be punishment for not telling Ada the truth and for fighting Orophin. I plan on teasing, tormenting and torturing the truth out him*
*Ahhh… have you ever noticed how many interesting words begin with ‘T’, my twin?*
*What, like tangent?*
*Are you implying something Ell?*
*No. I’m saying it. You just turned the subject away from sex and other fun stuff to a boring lesson on the alphabet!! How is that logical?*
*Oh, so now I’m ILLOGICAL?! Well I wasn’t the one who--*
*Did you just shout in my mind? How did you do that? You’ve never done that before*
*Oh, now who’s changing the topic?*
They were now standing outside Estel’s chambers.
*’Ro, I am going to our rooms for a moment. Have him remove his pants – he may keep his tunic on -- for now. Oh and blindfold him. Also be extra nice and sympathetic, I think we’re going to play a little game of ‘good elf twin – evil elf twin’*
Elrohir snickered then entered the room, the sight within nearly breaking his heart. Estel knelt as he’d been told but his eyes were filled with sorrow, twin tear tracks staining his cheeks from where he’d been unable to hold in his angst.
“’Ro” he whispered. “Am I in a lot of trouble? Do Ada and Ell hate me now?”
“Oh Estel, of course they don’t hate you! They love you, they are just a little hurt and disappointed that you feel unable to confide in them.”
“And you?” ‘Ro moved to hug the young man tightly.
“Maybe a little hurt but I have enough faith and trust in you to believe that whatever reason you had for your actions, it must have been important. However, we can discuss this later. Right now Ell has instructed me to ready you for punishment. So…pants off!” He straightened and took a step back.
“Wait, Ell is punishing me, I thought Ada – WAIT! PANTS OFF?!?! I am too old to be spanked!”
Elrohir nearly burst out laughing at that – it took all his control to maintain his composure. He’d wager that Ell was going to be sorry he missed that – it WAS straight out of his fantasy, after all! He had to tell his twin immediately.
*Ell, you are never going to believe what Estel just said*
*I heard! I’m standing just outside the door. Did you laugh?*
*No, but it was close*
*Is he ready yet?*
*Patience is a virtue, brother*
*By the Valar. You think I wish to be virtuous?!*
Elrohir mentally snorted at that, then concentrated once more on the indignant young mortal.
“I’m sorry Estel I agree with you but, you know Ell, he believes that you are never too old to be spanked.” Elrohir ignored the mental chuckle of his brother as he repeated Elladan’s earlier words. “It’s best you do as he says, otherwise you may further enrage him. After all, are a small indignity and day or two of standing so great a price to pay for risking your life in such a foolish stunt and endangering the life of a galadhrim, not to mention potentially causing tension to the alliance between Imladris and Lothlorien? I mean, what if you had killed Orophin or badly wounded him? Do you think Grandmother and Grandfather would have been happy? He is practically their son! You could have brought down the wrath of Lothlorien on us all. Please Estel, I know you probably had good reason but Ada and Elladan believe they have good cause to be upset. Just submit yourself to this and then in a little while it will all be over” he urged.
*Laying it on a bit thick there, ‘Ro? You practically just predicted war between two elven realms bound by blood as well as friendship, over a knife-fight that barely drew blood! You’re such a drama queen.*
*Shut up, Ell! Do I tell you how to play your role?*
*I have no idea. I haven’t begun yet…*
*Ah well then, prepare to be critiqued*
“Alright ‘Ro” Estel said, regaining the twin’s attention. He removed his trousers, folded them and laid them neatly to the side.
“He also wishes you blindfolded” Estel looked like arguing again but one ‘puppy-eyed’ glance from the twin convinced him to swallow his objection and submit to this further indignity. Estel walked over to the wardrobe and removed a thick black velvet sash from the belt-loops of one of his ceremonial robes.
“Will this do?”
“Yes, come here” Elrohir fixed the blindfold then gently pressed on Estel’s shoulders. “Kneel now” Estel did so and Elrohir allowed one hand to remain atop the young man’s head, knowing he needed this contact.
*He is ready, Ell*
