Novlomiel plopped down in her chair and let out a deep, long sigh. It had been a long day, and she was exhausted. The dress-fitting had taken more time than she had planned, and afterwards Legolas had insisted on triple-checking every aspect of the wedding. He had been acting strange all afternoon, and it kind of irritated her. If she needed anyone to be normal right now, it was him.
The wedding was less than a week away, and she was beginning to feel the pressure. It was scary. No matter how much she liked Haldir, it was still so frightening to her that she was going to be marrying someone she barely knew. Closing her eyes, she hoped that this marriage would indeed help bring peace to Mirkwood and Lothlorien. Otherwise, she would be very, very mad.
A knock at the door interrupted her thoughts. Grumbling, she got out of her chair and approached the sound. She really didn't want visitors right now, and hoped that it wasn't Legolas. She really needed a break from him.
Opening the door, she was surprised to see the smiling face of Haldir. "Hi," she said, wondering why he was there so late. "Something wrong?"
He looked confused for a second before shaking his head. "No, nothing's wrong," he replied, "Can I come in?"
Novlomiel opened the door wide and he walked in, his gaze roaming the room he now stood in. He seemed to be a little nervous.
When she closed the door, he turned to look at her. "I just received news that the company from Rivendell will be arriving tomorrow," he said, clasping his hands behind his back, "It has been recommended that you remain indoors as much as possible during their time here."
Novlomiel knit her brows and went to sit down in her chair. "Remain indoors?" she asked as she watched Haldir sit across from her, "Why?"
He licked his lips and began to look even more nervous. "They are untrustworthy. The King thought it would be a good idea for all...womenfolk...to remain indoors."
She raised an eyebrow at him and frowned. "Womenfolk?" she repeated, "That's ridiculous. I can take care of myself, you know."
Haldir nodded softly. "I know," he said quietly, "But I must say, I would feel better knowing you are safe."
He looked so sincere that Novlomiel couldn't help but smile. "I promise I won't do anything stupid," she said, "But I'm not going to hide. Besides, I'm usually out with you or Legolas, anyways."
"True, but we will have much work to do with negotiations while they are here," said Haldir, sighing, "I really don't see the point. They are unreliable."
Novlomiel laughed. "You sound like Legolas."
Haldir looked up at her and smiled softly, looking over her face. "You have a beautiful laugh," he said, and Novlomiel could feel herself blush. "Perhaps this marriage will turn out to be a good thing," he said, and she noted how his eyes turned bright at the words.
Novlomiel swallowed heavily. "Yeah," she said, "You never know."
There were a few tense, quiet seconds before Haldir moved his eyes from her gaze and got up. Novlomiel did the same and followed him to the door.
Stopping, he turned to her and smiled. "Goodnight," he said, his voice low.
"Goodnight," she said, stepping forward to unlock the door. He stopped her when she leaned past him, and she looked up, her eyes wide.
She anticipated what he was going to do, but she couldn't help but inhale sharply when he bent down and kissed her mouth, his soft, warm lips pressing to hers gently. Novlomiel felt his hands lightly grasp her shoulders, and she could taste his breath on her lips, but his kiss was relaxed and chaste.
She exhaled and opened her eyes when they parted, and found him staring at her with dark, hooded eyes. His hand traced her cheek and ran through her hair, tucking it behind her ear. "You're beautiful," he said, his voice a whisper, "Can I kiss you again?"
Novlomiel sighed and nodded her head, unable to form words. She closed her eyes as he leaned in again, and this time she kissed him back, parting her lips when she felt him ask for entrance. His tounge slipped into her mouth, and she moaned at how silky and heated he felt. His hands cupped her face and tilted her upwards as he kissed her more strongly, his lips biting at hers.
Reaching her hands up, she rested her palms on his chest as he quickly pulled back for air then kissed her again, more forcefully this time. Novlomiel's hands drifted up to his shoulders and she squeezed, causing Haldir to groan gently and push her around so her back was to the door.
She could feel him losing himself in the act, and as nervous as she was, she knew she wanted it, too. So she didn't object when his hands slid down her neck and over her chest, and gripped her around the waist. She met his urgency when she moved her hands to his waist and slid them up his shirt, smoothing over the skin underneath. His kisses grew more demanding and more passionate, and Novlomiel found herself thoroughly enjoying it.
Suddenly, though, he pulled away and stared at her, panting. He seemed to consider something before licking his lips and asking, "Do you want to do this?"
Novlomiel felt his body heat pressing to her, the nervous anticipation in her stomach, and nodded a fervent 'yes'.
He smiled and leaned closer to her face, but didn't kiss. "Do you want to move to the bedroom?" His voice was husky and his breath hot against her face. She blinked slowly and breathed, "Yeah", before he took her hand and led her to the far room.
Once inside, Haldir kissed her again, this time distractedly, as his hands began working at her clothing. Novlomiel did the same, her fingers fumbling with the buttons on his shirt. It all became a flurry of motion until Haldir's chest was bare and Novlomiel's shirt had been removed from her body. The feeling of skin on skin was electric.
He removed his hands from her body and shuffled out of his pants, quick to kiss her again as soon as he can. Novlomiel backed towards the bed and let out a gasp as she fell down after walking into it. Haldir took the opportunity to lean over her and take off her skirt, slowly pulling the material down over her legs.
Novlomiel leaned on her elbows and grinned as he looked up at her from the edge of the bed. She bit her lip when he moved forward, crawling over her body. Pushing herself further up on the bed, she laid back as he pressed his body to hers and kissed her deeply, his tongue massaging against hers. The sounds of their breathing were sharp in the quiet room.
Haldir pushed his hands under her back and swiftly unclasped her bra. He pulled the material from her arms and threw it aside, then slid his hands over her skin. Novlomiel gasped into his mouth as he rubbed slowly over her flesh, squeezing gently.
"Novlomiel," he said, pulling from her kiss and breathing heavily, "We should...we should use protection."
Her eyes widened in horror. She didn't have any protection. He didn't seem to notice, though, becausewas was quickly leaning over the bed and rummaging through his pants. She peered through the dim light as he sat up and fidgeted with his shorts. Several seconds later, he had turned back, smiled, and leaned over her again.
"You ready?" he asked, and she nearly laughed at the thought of him carrying a condom at all times.
She rubbed his shoulders and smiled. "Yeah," she breathed, pulling his head downward to her lips and kissing him softly, then pressing further into his mouth. He groaned as she placed her leg over his and began massaging up and down his calf.
Haldir pushed forward and entered her slowly, and Novlomiel inhaled sharply at the intrusion. Curling her legs around his, she bit her lip and watched his eyes as he began a slow and steady pace. He kept his eyes locked with hers, and she soon began matching his movements, increasing her pleasure.
Novlomiel bent her knees and held her legs to his hips as his rhythm increased. She bit back a moan and closed her eyes, feeling his hot breath against her neck. He dropped his head and began sucking on her shoulder, biting tenderly as his movements sharpened.
She could hear him vocalizing his bliss into her neck and feel him moving irradically over her. Novlomiel gasped as her pleasure increased, and she soon lost herself to the feeling. Arching back, she moaned deeply and felt Haldir meet his own pleasure soon afterwards.
Novlomiel breathed in shallow breaths and clung to him after she calmed. His warm body felt so comforting pressed against hers, and she couldn't help but smile when he raised his face and looked into her eyes, and brushed a strand of hair from her face.
"This marriage thing might work out after all," he said, grinning, and Novlomiel laughed. He kissed her softly on the lips, then drew back to move out of her. Settling beside her body, he pulled the covers over top of them and rested his hand on her abdomen.
He watched her for a few seconds before she licked her lips and touched his face. "You're really beautiful," she whispered, vocalizing her feelings. She felt so lucky to have someone like him, when her fears had been that she would be stuck in a miserable union.
His eyes grew soft and he smiled and kissed her on the forehead. "Go to sleep, love," he said, pulling her into his body. She rested her head against his chest and bathed in his warmth. Sleep came over her quickly and quietly.
