CH 19. Mirkwood and the arrival of the unexpected
They decided that it was time to go back to Mirkwood, for Legolas’s father missed him terribly! So, they ventured off back to his home and would deliver their baby in Mirkwood.
Lady Idril and Lord Elrond would travel as the baby neared its time of arrival. Idril’s face begun to tear up and her husband mirrored the same face as well. They did not want their daughter to go but knew it was the right thing.
As the months went by, her stomach got much bigger and the seventh month was already here. Larien’s back begun to hurt a lot more these days and the healer put her on bed rest. Her mother and father came early because they missed their beloved daughter.
Larien would constantly get up to walk the halls but either Idril would find her or Legolas, they would just walk her back to the bed. She would constantly cry because she was so uncomfortable, little did they know it would be something unexpected.
Legolas came in to rub her sore back, the muscles were getting so tight and Idril said it was because the baby would be here soon. Larien got up and went out on the balcony. Legolas had asked her to come back to lie down but she ignored him. She was bored and need a change of scenery. She went out to look at the beautiful Lilac’s blooming in the distance.
Larien closed her eyes and longed of being in the garden next to them. She didn’t notice Legolas behind her as she was daydreaming. He reached around her swollen stomach and rubbed her belly. She smiled upon him as he placed a kiss on his wife’s lips.
Sincerity in Larien’s tone, “I am so fat, looked at the size of my belly, I haven’t even reached my final month!”
With a patient voice, Legolas replied, “You are not fat my love, you are carrying our child. There is a difference between being fat and being pregnant!”
Larien smiled at him as he was reassuring her that she would shed the weight in no time after the baby was born! Then as they were standing there holding one another, she got a horrible pain and dropped to her knees. A liquid poured out between her legs.
Terrified Larien stated, “What is going on, I thought Elf’s weren’t suppose to feel the labor pains?”
Legolas was in amazement because he had never seen this before and was worried because she had broken her water. She screamed as another contraction waved over her body. Legolas picked Larien up and carried her to the bed. The tears were streaming down her face because of the pain!
With fear in Larien’s eyes, she said, “Do not, L---E—Ave me!”
Legolas said with distress, “I won’t be gone long, my love.” Larien was lying on the bed in such misery and Legolas knew something was wrong!
Legolas opened the door and hollered out, “Someone Help, come quickly, Larien is not well.”
Idril was near by and heard him yelling for help. She went quickly to get the healer for she feared something was not right.
When they approached, the healer and Idril came into the room. Idril watched as the healer went to check on her daughter. Legolas was sitting next to his wife as she was screaming because of the pain.
Idril went over and tried to sooth Larien with her voice. This did not work and Larien’s condition worsened. Idril could not help her daughter for the pains were not right for an Elf, she wonder why, Elf’s do not have pains during labor.
The healer was uncertain why she was in such distress and was trying to help her as the condition became more alarming. The healer went over and tried to calm the dow down, he placed his hand onto her stomach. He felt around for some reason of the early delivery.
Larien’s legs were bent and were in the position for the healer to check for internal issues. He knew something was not right but couldn’t put his finger on it. Then Larien screamed out in a high-pitched sound that was screeching to everyone’s ears.
Legolas said with anger flowing in his voice, “Is there nothing you can do to relieve her agony?”
The healer just shook his head and said, “I am trying to figure out…” The he paused and saw the blood that was flowing out of from under the gown.
Legolas saw this and then looked at his wife as her face went ghostly pale. Legolas began to weep for he loved her and would not have her die on him because he would die too.
The healer said with concern, “Lady Idril, I need Lord Elrond, she is bleeding and needs attention, right away or she will die!”
Legolas did not know what to do, the baby was coming early and there was something strangely wrong. Idril ran out of the room and went to get Lord Elrond.
The hr sar said, “You must talk with her Legolas, she is fading and needs to hear your voice!” Legolas kept talking with her as the healer examined her down below.
With sadness Legolas said as tears poured from his eyes, “Do not leave me, Please, I need you to help me raise our child! Pl-e-ase!”
The healer lifted up the blood soaked gown and placed some herbal medicine inside her womb. This didn’t seem to be helping much as he felt the contractions getting worse. Meanwhile, Idril was running down the halls and came to King Thranduil study.
As Idril spoke, nearly out of breath, “My dear, something is not quite right with Larien, she is in serious pain and her condition seems to be getting worse. The healer has asked for you to come and help out with the birth!”
Gandolf was there but Idril didn’t notice that he was in the room. He spoke aloud and said, “I wish to help out with Larien’s early birth!”
In a hurried tone Lord Elrond said, “Let’s go!”
Then they all left to where Larien was giving birth and to help out this innocent child who has decided to come a little early.
When they were coming closer to the room, they heard Larien had come around and was screaming in anguish. Lord Elrond grabbed his wife’s had and squeezed it a little because he was worried about his daughter.
Idril was hurting also, for she could not help her daughter this time. They both were feeling the same way, helpless.
Lord Elrond went to the bed and looked at his daughter, her face looked so cold and the smell of iron penetrated the room. The healer was franticly trying to get the blood to stop but with no such luck. Legolas was getting outraged because his wife and child could die.
With anger, Legolas shouted, “Leave now, you are killing my wife!” The healer left the room as Legolas commanded.
Legolas said with tears flowing freely now, “My wife, your daughter is dying, please help her, she needs you now!”
Lord Elrond could not believe the sight he was seeing, his daughter bleeding to death! He also noticed her face growing cold as she passed out again.
Lady Idril walked over to her daughter with tears in her eyes and said, “You must wake up and find the strength to save my grandchild!”
Lady Idril shook Larien, her eyes were half opened and she looked at her mother and moaned.
Once more, Lady Idril with a sharper tone, “Open your eyes, your baby will die if you do not wake up.”
Larien heard her mother’s stern voice and started to come around. The contractions were coming on strong as she sat up to start pushing. The blood had soaked through the sheets and devoured the bed.
Gaf asf asked with fear in his eyes to Legolas, “Did you two consummate when she was human?”
With anxiety in Legolas’s eyes, he answered, “Yes we did bond when she was of man kind.
Gandolf stated confused, “This is all wrong, the child will be born half human and half elf.”
Lord Elrond gazed at his wife with a displeasing look on his face. Her facial expressions mirrored his because she was not pleased.
Slowly Larien spoke, “I n-e-e-d to pu-sh!”
Lord Elrond sucked up his anger and helped deliver his grandchild. She started to push as the child’s head started to crown. Legolas was beside his wife cheering her on to keep pushing.
Lord Elrond and Lady Idril worked side-by-side helping deliver their grandchild. She pushed once more and the baby was out, it was a boy!
Lord Elrond handed the boy to his wife as she clean up her grandson. Larien cried for this was a moment that she and her husband would cherish. She cleaned the baby up and handed the child to Legolas.
The baby had pointed ears and honey blond hair like his mother. It had Legolas’s smile and eyes. He placed the child into Larien’s arms but it was short lived for she felt another contraction hit her small frame. Legolas quickly took bab baby out of his wife’s arms.
Then, Larien cried out, “another pain!” Lord Elrond examined the stomach and felt another.
Lord Elrond Spoke, “You’re not done yet my daughter, I believe there is another child inside!”
Then Larien pushed, this time when the baby came out, it was a girl.
Lord Elrond cried out in happiness, “It’s a daughter!”
Lord Elrond was so tickled to be apart and witness his grandchildren’s birth.
Lord Elrond handed the baby girl to Idril as she began to clean up her grand daughter. She noticed that the girl looked just like her father. The White blonde hair and blue eyes that were the same color blue as Legolas’s.
King Thranduil, held his grandson and said, “A fine heir to the throne.”
King Thranduil held the new bundle of joy and handed him to Legolas. He went to see his beautiful granddaughter that caught his attention and knew she would be the apple of his eye.
Gandolf examined the baby’s carefully and said, “You would never know if they were half elf’s or half human.
Both children had the pointy ears and resemble their parents in all features.
Gandolf added, “But you will have to live with the fact they are half elf and half human.”
Busting in, King Thranduil said, “The twins will never know that they are mixed with both races- unless my son and daughter-in law wishes to tell them one day.”
Legolas gazed upon his father because he tried to control the situation but admired him because he cleaned up his actions towards the end to give the parents the decision to tell them one day. Everyone was so happy of the birth and the baby’s were all right.
Larien smiled weakly at her twins and said, “Daughter, we shall call you, Inwe (Kaitlyn).” Larien named the c thi this because of her best friend that she knew back in the other realm.
Larien continued, “Then for our son, I wish to call him, Findecano (John).”
Legolas smiled and knew why she named him that name. She thought about naming him after her belated brother and no one had any objections about the names. Everyone agreed that they were perfect names. Idril, Thranduil, and Elrond were grinning and tickled pink for they were grandparents.
Idril asked everyone to leave so she could help Larien clean up and get rid of the sheets that were stained. Actually the bed had to be removed because of the saturation of the blood. So, Legolas picked her up and moved the babies to a different room.
After a few weeks of recovering, Larien was able to walk around the Palace again. She had a different life and loved being a mother.
Legolas loved to be a father and his children, especially Inwe, she had him and King Thranduil wrapped around her little finger. Even Larien’s parents, were caught up in spoiling the little Elflings!
Arwen soon arrived to help out with her new niece and nephew! She was busy with Aragorn they were arranging a marriage. Arwen knew this would be her one-day with her own family.
As Larien would be there in a heartbeat when she has her first child. Arwen enjoyed her time with them and even kept them while the parents had some alone time.
Princess Lady Larien and Prince Legolas lived liked the happy couple should the the family to go along with it! Larien would never forget the adventure that she lived and would cherish it for the rest of her life.
