Wee American Lamb

Chapter 19

*Billy's POV*

I don't know why I was acting so uptight. I was off my rocker! I sat down on the couch and flipped through the channels, trying to occupy my mind. Dom had wandered off to the bathroom...I swear he's either eating or in the bathroom...I found a BBC channel and kept it there, watching the old comedies made me remember growing up glued to the television when one was around or in the local cinema catching the latest masterpieces.

Sarah came in a moment later and sat down next to me. She handed me a bowl of ice cream and a spoon. "Oh wow...haven't seen this show in forever!" She laughed.

I looked at the screen and smiled, "You've seen this?" One of my favorite shows, Keeping Up Appearances, was on.

"Oh yeah...we got the BBC when I was growing up, I think it's all me and my mom would watch. This was one of our favorites. They always called me "Our Rose"."

I laughed at that, because the character Rose was just appearing on the screen. "I canae imagine that lass."

She smiled, "You know, most of my friends would've just gushed when you said that..." I guess I'd looked confused cause she laughed. "When you said 'canae'...I lived in North Carolina for a long time, not a lot of Scottish people there...I guess I'm just used to it by now though."

"Oh?"

"Well...growing up with the BBC..." she grinned, "And my first boyfriend was from Glasgow."

"The best kind of men come from Glasgow lass!" I stuck out my chest and flashed her a wink.

She laughed at that, "Well we were both in grade school together, and then when we'd get home after school his mum would look after me and my sister. I'd play with David, and Emily would play with Graham..." She smiled, lost in memories. "David called me his 'wee American lamb' all the time."

"Aye, well that suits you. You did very well last night...I didn't get to tell you that properly due to all the fuss." I patted her hand, "You'd do very well in the theater, or even in films."

"I wish it could happen. I've never been given a second glance from most directors...they go for the beautiful blonde women with perfect hair and skin."

"Well then they are making a mistake! Because you've got a beautiful face to go along with your beautiful gift." I smiled.

She gave me a hug, "You know Billy...you're like the brother I never had!" She kissed my cheek and said good night.

"G'night lass." I watched her retreat to her room. 'Well...better than her cousin I guess...' It pained me slightly to be thought of as a brother, I already had a sister of my own. 'I wish I was younger', I thought to myself...'not the good 16 years older.' I sat back and finished watching the episode.

*End Billy's POV and Begin Dom's POV*

I entered the living room to find Billy still sitting on the couch where I'd left him not a half an hour ago. "Dude...what's up with you? You've been sulky...and this from a person who's never in a bad mood."

"Just tired--"

"That's a load of bollucks and you know it!" I said. "I know you've got a bit of a crush on her mate, we all do. She's a wonderful girl."

"It's not just that though Dom...She's a wonderfully gifted person, she has lots of interests and passions..."

"And Elijah is very lucky to have her." I finished.

"Aye, I know...I'm very happy for him too. I don't want to take her away from 'Lij mate, but seeing them together reminds me that I am getting old...and I have this desire to settle down."

I chuckled, "You'll find 'er one day mate!"

*End Dom's POV*

After leaving Billy I walked into my room to find Elijah reading the book I'd brought with me. "Haven't you gotten sick of that yet?" I smiled and scooted up to him.

He smiled back, "Haven't you?" He handed me my faded Fellowship of the Ring.

"I've been reading this book for over a decade...and every time I read it, the story gets better and better...because the characters become more real for me." I took the book in my hands and flipped through the pages. "When the movies came out...I was so excited. I couldn't wait to hear my favorite lines and songs played out on the screen. I was dying to see Sméagol, and Frodo as he deteriorated in the power of the Ring." I shivered. "It was all what I'd hoped it would be. And I hated that I couldn't be a part of that...I was secretly hoping that Mr. Jackson had rewritten it, and needed a young brunette to play his hobbit lass who welcomes him back to the Shire. But as a fan of the book, I'd be upset if he changed the ending."

Elijah pulled me close and smiled, "Well...I'm glad Frodo finally found a girl. I mean, Valinor wasn't void of chicks ya know!" He laughed...but suddenly stopped and got a thoughtful look on his face. "What are you going to do? When we get back to the States..."

"I don't know...I was reaching the end of my money just before the accident, and I was almost deciding to move back to the east coast."

"Why?" Elijah sat up straight and fixed his eyes on me.

"Well, I'd joined the thousands of young people in the race to be an actress...and I was failing miserably. I didn't want to admit defeat and return to my parents...but I can't afford to live in LA by working at a record store."

"What if you had someplace to stay free of charge with a hott and loving guy at your side?"

"Really?" I blushed.

"Absolutely! I think it would be a fabulous idea...then we could fix you up with a few auditions, and get you an agent..."

"Wow 'Lij...I mean...do you think Dom really wants me to move in with him?" I smiled coyly at him.

"Yeah...wait...what?" He starred at me open faced before realizing I was toying with him. Before I knew it he was sitting on my attacking me with tickles and kisses.

There was a knock on the door, and when I tried to cry out for help Elijah silenced me with a kiss. Dom walked in and laughed, "Why do I always find one of you on top of the other?" Elijah threw a pillow at him, but missed due to me blocking his arm. "Well am I to assume that you require assistance M'Lady Sarah?"

All I could do was nod, my breath was not under control, and my sides were aching. Dom pulled Elijah's foot, sliding him down and off the bed, and then offered me a hand to help me up. I tore out of the bedroom and down the hall while Dom tripped up Elijah to give me a head start. Not seeing a place to hide in the house, I flew into the back yard and found a few boxes next to the pool house. I crouched behind them, trying to catch my breath silently. While Dom had been in league with me, Billy had sided with Elijah and told him of my hidding spot. I'd failed to notice that you could walk behind the bath house until I was hoisted into a pair of arms. "Elijah!" I squealed, "Please put me down!"

"Yes?" He spun around and tickled my sides with the arm supporting my legs.

"Yes..." I clung to his neck and closed my eyes.

"Alright." I felt him start to lower me down, and I relaxed. Suddenly he jumped into the pool beside us, taking me with him.
