Part 15.1
Greenwood the Great, 1496 T.A.
“You are determind about that, Séregon?”
“Yes my king, our time has come. With your leave, Kela and I will sail to Valinor. We are tired my king... we saw our grandchildren’s children grew up. The sea call has become stronger and stronger these last years...”
“I understand what you are saying and I won’t stand in your way. I only regret losing such a talented healer and two of those few people, I would consider my friends. Séregon, you served already my father and your loyality towards this house was without fail. Your and Kela’s help, especially when Legolas was born, will never be forgotten. You have my blessings to leave this realm and find a new home in Valinor, where we will hopefully meet again someday! May the Valar guide you and protect you on every step of your way, my friend.”
The healer bowed deeply and Thranduil stood up, and placed a hand on his former healer’s shoulder.
“May I ask one last favor, before you leave?”
“Of course my king!”
“I want to show you something.” Thranduil went to the fireplace. A bow was hanging above it at the wall.
“This bow belonged to my adar, and it was my first bow as well. It is supposed to be Legolas’ now, but I cannot risk to send him this gift. Would you take it with you? A package from Mithlond to Imladris won’t draw any attention...”
“Of course I will do this for you. And maybe you want to write your ion a letter too, to let him know he’s loved and not forgotten here.”
“No, the letter could be found, no... but when he gets the bow, he will understand!”

Imladris, two months later...
“AAAhh, yes, yes... oh, the things you do to me, ind-nîn... oooh.” The dark advisor squirmed, when he felt the moist tongue of his lover licking at his entrance. Bent over the desk, with Glorfindel kneeling between his tighs, Erestor had been terrified at first, to be caught in this compromising situation in his study, but soon after Glorfindel had started to lift his robes and kiss, lick and bite him on his backside, all thoughts were gone from his mind. The seneschal’s tongue now penetrated his body slightly and Erestor couldn’t help but whimper...
“O, yes Findel... oh, take me! NOW! Saes...”
Glorfindel slowly withdraw from between Erestor’s thighs.
“Oh, meleth, you make the most wonderful sounds when you are so completely at my mercy... but I will grant your wish and take you now... atop Imladris most important correspondency!” And with that, he grabbed the advisor’s waist and pushed his already oiled member into the velvet heat...
Some minutes later, Erstor arranged his robes again, while Glorfindel fingercombed his tousled hair.
The seneschal chuckled at the sight of the desk’s contents.
“Oh, Erestor, I fear you will have to start with that letter anew, or else Celeborn will wonder about those white staines on the paper...” he snorted with laughter.
“Argh... all you fault!!!”
“No, my dear advisor, I actually think that this is your seed!!”
The advisor only mumbled something at that while he cleaned the mess on his desk. Then he turned to his lover again:
“This is your last evening before patrol ind-nîn, why don’t you stay with me, until I’ve finished those letters and then we go for a walk?”
“I’m sorry, meleth, actually I have something to do right now... but we will have dinner together... in my study in the barracks!!!”
“In your study, why not in the hall of fire???”
“Surprise, meleth, surprise!!!”

Legolas hesitantly entered Elrond’s study... he wasn’t sure, why the Imladris lord had called for him. As far as he remembered, he wasn’t in trouble at the moment, was he??? It was never a good sign, to be called in Elrond’s study, that much he had learned from the twins...
Elrond was sitting at his desk.
“One moment please, Legolas… so… done! Now alright, I’m sure you are curious why I wanted to speak with you.”
“Y-Yes… ehm, have I done something wrong?“
“Not everyone who enters my study is in trouble – except for my sons that is. I’m sure they have never been inside here without experiencing a punishment... But I called for you for another reason. I received something from Mithlond, but it originally comes from Greenwood – and I think it’s for you!”
And Elrond showed a bow to Legolas.
“Do you know, whose bow that is, Legolas?”
“It belonged to ... my grandfather Oropher, he gave it to my adar... I saw it hanging over the fireplace in his study...”
“And now your adar gives it to you... for you are his ion! I think he wants you to remember that... to remember, you are loved by your parents!”
Legolas had tears in his eyes, with trembling hands he took the weapon from Elrond’s hands.
The young elf was at a loss for words.
In that moment, Erestor entered Elronds study.
“Oh, I’m sorry, my Lord, I thought you were alone. I just wanted to give you the letters for Celeborn...” The advisor gazed at Legolas and the bow in his hands, which was without doubt a Greenwood weapon and a priceless piece of art.
“It’s ok, Erestor, we are finished... Legolas you may go... take care of the bow, it’s a token of their love, never forget that.”
***
Legolas walked over to a bench in the rosegarden. The flowers bloomed in the most wonderful colours, their scent filled the air. But Legolas did not notice his surroundings. He sat down and stared at the bow, which he clutched in his hands.
// A token of their love... another one// he thought. His hand wandered in his pocket and felt for the rock crystal, he always carried with him. At once his mind wandered back to the morning of his departure from Lothlorien, to all the pain and doubts he had felt upon waking in Haldir’s empty bed. The marchwarden had not even come to see him off.
// Accept it, you were just another elf to warm his bed – and apparently you were not even good at that!// Legolas said to himself. He shook his head as if to banish these thoughts, but still the feeling of alone remained.
// A token of love – a necklace from naneth, a crystal from Haldir, a bow from adar... that seems to be all I get, a reminder of what I can never have! A reminder of love...//

Glorfindel placed the candles on his desk and looked around. The room was prepared, Gondolin roses spread over the couch and the floor, the table was set, the fire lit. Dinner would arrive in a few minutes and then everything would be perfect. Still he was so nervous – this was maybe the most important day in his life, both of his lifes. He opened the top drawer of his desk – ah yes, it was still there. He took the small box out and opened it. In there was a small ring of purest gold, adorned only with an engraved golden flower, the sign of Glorfindel’s house in Gondolin.
The seneschal allowed himseld to look back at the love he had experienced in his life and at the many losses that had gone hand in hand with that – when Gondolin fell, he had lost his parents and his beloved Ecthelion. He would not loose Erestor, never... but was this the right path to take?
Yes- he was ready to do this. Erestor was the other half of his soul, there was no doubt at that. And tonight was the first night of an eternity together, tonight he would ask his lover to bind their souls together...
Footfalls on the floor told the warrior that someone was approaching his study. Expecting it to be the arriving dinner, Glorfindel left the room to help the servants but froze, when he saw it was Erestor.
“Meleth-nîn, you... eh, you are too early!”
“Sorry Findel, I just, I...I wanted to speak with you. I’m a little confused. I met Legolas in Elrond study and he got a bow, a Greenwood bow and Elrond said something strange, about a token of love and...” Erestor looked at his lover and fell silent. Something in Glorfindel’s eyes told him that the warrior wasn’t irritated by his words at all.
“You know something Findel!”
The seneschal shoved the advisor into his study, not caring anymore about the ruined surprise.
“What I tell you now has to stay secret by all means. You were right with your suspicion about Legolas story – it’s all a lie, a story Elrond and Thranduil came up with to protect the pen-neth...”
“Thranduil?”
“Yes, - Legolas is Thranduil’s ion!”
“You must be jesting, Thranduil has no ion, just an iell that died – wait... are you telling me that...”
“Yes, there has never been an iell, princess Amariel never existed. The king decided to raise Legolas as a girl, because an istari once swore to kill Thranduil’s firstborn ion. No even Legolas himself knew about all this, until we had to stay in Greenwood because Elrohir had been wounded by orcs. That’s when everything was revealed and that’s why he had to come to Imladris.”
“Who else does know about that?”
“Elrond and his family, Lady Galadriel for sure, me and now you know it too. I’m sorry I did not tell you earlier but it is nothing less than the pen-neth’s life at stake. Forgive me...”
Erestor’s features hardened and his eyes became deadly cold. Glorfindel hadn’t seen this glare anymore, since he and the advisor had come together. When Erestor finally spoke his voice sounded strangely calm:
“No, I understand you perfectely.. it is not that we were as close as Elrond and Celebrian, were we? I mean, if I had been in your place, I also wouldn’t tell one of my flings-“
“Erestor!”
“NO – that’s what I am for you, isn’t it so. A fling, nothing more... someone to make your sexual fantasies come true, someone to enjoy a little adventure on the desk with... That’s where we stand, isn’t it? You claimed to love me, but if you did, you would at least trust me with such important things... What did you think, I would do with such a knowledge? Paint the news on the Last Homely House?”
“Meleth-nîn, saes, let me explain...”
“NO, there’s no need to explain anything – I understand now perfectly well what I am for you. Oh, of course I see, you’ve prepared this chamber well... roses, candles... everything to get me into a good mood, for that makes it easier for you to have your way... Tell me, will you have me on YOUR desk too today?”
The cynicism in his lovers voice sent shivers down Glorfindels spine.
“Erestor – in your study ... I thought you wanted that as well, I would never force you... saes, Erestor, I love you.”
“I have no desire to listen in your lies anymore. I need time to think now. Have a nice patrol, Glorfindel. Don’t expect me to see you off tomorrow...”
***
Three days later Erestor was sitting in his study with Legolas. They were working at a map of all the passes of the Misty Mountains, but none of them was able to work concentrated.
Legolas thoughts were with his parents. Of course the bow was a great gift, but why had there been no letter, not one word of affection for him. This would have been a so much greater gift. And was he supposed to use this bow now, this precious weapon his grandfather and father had already used. Would this make him a Greenwood crownprince?
Erestor’s thoughts circeled around his quarrel with Glorfindel, he could not think of anything else since his lover had left. Yes, he was hurt beyond measure, Glorfindel had not trusted him with Legolas identity, but he already regretted his harsh words. He knew deep inside, that Glorfindel truly loved him. And he always enjoyed their lovemaking, although there was one thing, that had never happened in all their time together: Glorfindel had never been on the receiving end. To take this mighty warrior, to have him completely had always been a fantasy of Erestor... but he had never told his lover, so he couldn’t hold this against him now, could he? No, Erstor knew what he had to do. First thing when Glorfindel would come back from patrol would be to beg for the seneschals forgiveness.
Sudden agitation and noise in the courtyard shook both elves from their musings. Both could feel it clearly: something had happened. They quickly left the study and ran out of the house... The patrol was in the courtyard, they looked dreadful. Their uniforms were torn, some were wounded... Frantically Erestor looked around, searching for his lover. When he finally spotted him, all colour fled from his face: Glorfindel lay on a stretcher, that was tied to his horse, two arrows were imbedded in his chest. Elrond was already there, shouting for his sons and Legolas to care for the minor wounded soldiers and gave the servants instructions to bring the seneschal carefully to the healing wing. When the lord’s and Erestor’s eyes met, for the first time the advisor saw uncertainty in Elronds eyes. He swallowed the lump in his throat to find his voice again and screamed:
“Elrond, will he die?”
