The Fire Dance
Ch173
One week had passed..................
In the early morning hours, Haldir slowly made his way toward the
healing wing, then stopped at the entrance of the inner garden
"Taurcalad?"
"Good morning Haldir"
The Lorien warrior squinted as he looked up into the branches "Even
with the rain, I am unable to sight you. Would you come here a moment?"
Taurcalad dropped down from the tree, shook himself, then stepped into
the hall "What did you need?"
Haldir arched his brow as he chuckled "You look like a drowned ferret"
"Well, it IS raining and my new home has no roof"
The Lorien warrior nodded "Mel and I were talking about that. Ormeril
of course has moved out and Lirmaen never did live with us...we have a
spare chamber"
"That is a very kind offer Haldir, but I think I will have to decline
for two reasons...one, it would mean that I would be living within
stone, aye this garden is within stone but it is open and airy...and
two, I would not be close to Thoniel's chamber"
Haldir smiled as he placed his hand on his shoulder "I understand. Though
should you change your mind, the offer is a permanent one...the way
Cirdan is controlling the weather, we will be sailing boats through
Imladris instead of walking. Why they placed that ring on a mariners
finger, I will never know! The Bruinen has Never been this high"
Taurcalad frowned "What do you mean"
"Ahh, the Bruinen has swelled and is threatening to flow over...I hope
you know how to swim"
Taurcalad's eyes widened "Thoniel has been walking there every
morning! He is there right now!"
Haldir watched as the Avarin warrior took off running, then sighed "He
is out of sight now my lord"
Tulkas smiled as he stepped out of one of the coves "Good. Well done
Haldir"
"My lord, Thoniel will be alright, correct? It would cause me great
sorrow to discover that I was involved in him getting hurt"
"Worry not, everything will be fine"
~*~*~
Elrond laid on his side and sighed "Oh this weather is So helping my
melancholy!"
Thranduil growled as he quickly got out of their bed "Thats it! It has
been raining for a week! This has to stop!"
~*~*~
Taurcalad ran as fast as he could, and upon reaching the Bruinen, he
glanced up and down the banks as he called out "Thoniel!"
*Silence*
Quickly following the path the young healer normally took down the
river, Taurcalad spied a figure up ahead, then gasped as the form
slipped and slid into the water
Diving head first into the water, Taurcalad grabbed the thrashing elf
and pulled him to the bank. Lifting him into his arms, he moved a good
ways onto land then laid the healer down "Thoniel!"
The young healer sputtered and coughed, then blinked when he finally
realized that Taurcalad was laying next to him
"Say something Thoniel!"
"You...you..."
Taurcalad smiled as he leaned close and placed tiny kisses to the
healers cheek "You nearly scared me to an unnatural grave!", then
blinked in shock when Thoniel swiftly wrapped his arms around his neck
"You...you came in after me and...you could have drowned!"
Inhaling the healers unique scent as his face was crushed into his
neck by the desperate grasp, Taurcalad lightly nuzzled as he whispered
"I love you Thoniel, of course I came in after you"
Thoniel slowly released him, then took a deep breath as he looked the
warrior over "You...you lost your loincloth"
"I care not, the river can have it...are you alright? Can you breath
alright?"
The young healer slowly nodded, then looked down between them "Is that
a...a Hawk in fl...flight inked next to your uh..."
Taurcalad nodded as he pushed the healers hair out of his face "Aye.
We Avari ink the life we find most fair to the left of our elfhood,
our mate is then the first to ever see it properly, had I lost my
loincloth among my kin, they would not look there, t'is a sacred thing
between those mated"
Thoniel swallowed hard "And you...you have no mate?"
"Nay. The one I fell in love with did not love me back...why would I
take another, the love would not be true"
"You just...you just said you love me"
"Aye"
Thoniel licked his lips as he glanced back down between them, then
furrowed his brow "What...what does it say? I see a word inked right
above the Hawk"
Taurcalad took a deep breath, then moved a bit so the the healer could
read it
Thoniel blinked in shock "My...you have...my name? You have my name
inked...."
"I love you Thoniel"
The young healer trembled slightly, but then cuddled closer and
whispered "I am scared"
Taurcalad gently caressed his cheek, then smiled kindly "I know. Tul,
let me get you to the healing wing, you are drenched from the river
and this rain is not allowing you to dry"
~*~*~
Thranduil growled as he pounded on the door "Cirdan! Open this door
right now and give me Vilya!"
When the ancient lord opened the door, he was greeted with a held out
hand "Hand her over"
"I am sorry about the rain"
"Hand her over"
Cirdan nodded, then removed the sapphire ring. Instantly, the rain
stopped
Thranduil took a deep breath as he looked at the ring "What should I
expect Cirdan...what do I do"
The ancient lord smiled "Slowly slip her on, then give her a moment to
feel you, learn you"
Thranduil did as told, then tilted his head "I...I can feel her, t'is
an odd sensation"
~*~*~
Sitting on his balcony, Elrond rolled his eyes when the tree in front
of him suddenly went into full bloom "Mmm...Thran obviously got Vilya
from Cirdan", he then sighed as he shook his head "Well, let us see
what an aggressive wood-elf will do to my realm"
