Chapter 16

Warnings:slash, unbet *~* *~*~*~*~*~*
Tracking party slowed down immediately after they saw a horse loose couple of strides ahead of them and they heard a faint orc shrieks that went into the night. They had been tring ing for hours nonstop, and they were just couple of miles from Imladris when they encountered the first signs of the danger. In the distance they could hear horse hoofs and they knew someone, friend or foe, was coming closer to them.
But the abandoned horse in the middle stood still and one of the guards from the tracking party had recognized it as Valandil's horse. Elrohir and Elladan drew their swords together but the sound of the elven horn ahead, eased their intons.ons. There in the night, tracking party saw twenty elves coming toward them, their markings were clearly of the Lothlorien. They were coming closer to the horse in the middle and tracking party met them from the other side. But what tracking party didn't see from their side now now was the body that was behind the horse. It was a mutilated body and only sign showing that it belonged to elven race were the pointed ears. The face was almost unrecognizable, but as Elladan got closer to it, he knew that it was his beloved laying there.
"Ho there, Haldir of Lorien. What brings you here at the borders of Imladris." Elrohir called for the leader of the other group and he quickly glanced at his twin as he heard Elladan's wail of the despair. Elrohir didn't see the body yet but as he approached the horse, he clearly saw the gruesome sight. Calmen, the Imladris guard, examined the mutilated body quickly and he nodded to the party.
"This is Valandil. Orc's made this deed, and by what I see, he was raped before they killed him." Calmen said those words in the breathless tone and his words were barely audible.
"Valandil, Oh Valar." Haldir dismounted from his horse and he quickly approached bloody body laying there on the ground. Elladan who was still on his horse was breathing harshly, fighting the sobs that were about to wreck him into the pieces. Then, something flashed in his eyes and they became cold, and his face turned deathly pale, as if part of him started dying. His body stood rigid as he was becoming second corpse, and he fell down from the horse, hng tng the ground with the slump.
Elrohir saw that and he quickly jumped from his steed, coming to his brother's side in a flash of the second. He lifted his twin from the ground, calling for the member of his party.
"Aine, fetch me the horse, quickly. I need to ride to Imladris." The she-elf brought him the horse and Elrohir mounted it, depositing his brother on the front.
Before he rode away he turned to Marchwarden to give him some useful instructions.
"Haldir, you and your party are welcome here in Imladris, just make sure you stop by the border posts to announce your arrival. And take Valandil's corpse to Imladris. We'll insure a proper burial for him." With that Elrohir swiftly disappeared out of the sight, praying to Valar that his brother would pull out from this sudden despair.

Elrond rushed into the healing room, hoping that the news servant told him weren't true. But he knew it well that it was, and his son was probably on verge on death. He quickly opened the door and the sight of his son's lifeless body shook him to core but he pulled himself from that state, because his brain worked in frantic pace, figuring what to do first, to cure his child. Elrohir was standing beside the bed and he turned around when he saw his father enter, releasing deep sigh.
"Ada, he is cold. What should we do?"
Elrohir asked his father and he followed his fathers form as he pulled some herbs from the drawer.
"Elrohir, what happened to him." Elrond asked his youngest son when he approached Elladan who was laying on the bed and he checked his temperature.
"It is Valandil. He is dead and Elladan saw his corpse and he fell. I brought him here as fast as I could but on the way here he still didn't respond to anything. He looks like the death, father. What is wrong with him?" Elrohir asked with the voice of the disappear and Elrond moved quickly to the table with the mixed herbs on it. He started to crush them in the bowl, still not responding to his sons question as his mind worked with much needed haste. He pulled couple of the potions from the bottom drawer, sipping some contents from the bottle to the already crushed herbs. He mixed it all together and he squished the herbs that were in the bowl, producing the red colored potion, which smelled badly and Elrohir covered his nose as he tried to escape the odor.
"Lift him up so I can sip this through his mouth." Elrond ordered to his youngest son, and Elrohir did as he was told, lifting his twin to the sitting position.
Elrond gave the potion to his unconscious son and he nodded to Elrohir, as the younger twin laid Elladan back to the bed.
"What do we do now Ada. Is he going to wake up?"
Elrohir asked with fear in his voice and Elrond for the first time in his life felt at loss of his words. He realized now how much Elladan loved Valandil, and that this strange love might cost him of his older son.
"I do not know, Elrohir. You ask to many questions, I do not know how to answer to." Elrond responded with the slight annoyance in his voice and he regretted his harsh response when he saw hurt look in Elrohir's eyes.
"Listen, young one. The best thing to do now is to be patient. Elladan is strong and there is good chance your brother will be alright.I need you to stay with him while I go to storage room to look for some dried herbs. I will be back after I fix the last potion Elladan needs to get better. If you need help, Artos my assistant healer is close. Do not worry, pen-neth. You will not loose Elladan." Elrond hugged his son briefly and he left the room in haste, hoping that he would find the dried herbs he was inquiring in there.
Elrohir's body slumped to the chair and he glanced briefly at his brother laying on the bed. He sighed and he brought his hands to his head when the sobs started to wreck his body. He knew only time would show him if his brother would survive this peril.

"Look what cat dragged in. It is nice for you to grace us with your presence here at the borders of Imladris, pen-neth." Semar was greeted by his best friend Stinah as he entered the cabin where guards left their supplies, weapons and armors. Stinah hugged his friend in a playful way and he tugged at his braid and Semar actually giggled at his friends silliness and he savored the ways his friend could make him smile.
"Oh, wicked child, what are you up to these days've 've been busy over here and I didn't see you for a week or so. Tell me, anything new in your young life. Any secret lovers you are hiding from me, young one. "Stinah grinned as he saw his friend blush and that amused him very much. He admired his friends innocence and his naive ways and he wanted to protect those traits his friend possessed but he knew that all of that would be soon corrupted by the elf that was a biggest threat to Semar's heart. That elf sadly to say was Huor. Stinah knew that Semar had lost his heart to this foul elf and that his friend was foolish for letting his feelings go so easily.
"Oh, be quiet, meldir. I am not in the mood for your teasing and your playing ways. I have a lot on my mind these days and I want to figure out how to clear my mind of all my problems. Your childishness only distracts me from my thinking." Semar responded with fake annoyance and Stinah knew that the other elf was just acting, but something was also different in his friend's attitude.
"Hmmm something is amiss with you, meldir. May I assume that this time Huor got the best of you again? Ai, mellon-nin. You need to learn how to handle that elf and his rude attitude. You need to learn how to master the situation every time you have a conversation with him. I hate to see you like that, meldir. Confusion and annoyance don't fit your style well."
Stinah took a seat on the chair near the window and Semar joined him as huriourios eyes scanned his handsome friend.
"What in the Arda are you talking about. How do I master something so wild as Huor? Can you help me to do that, because Valar knows I am hopeless when it comes to the matters of the heart and secret seductions."
Semar asked Stinah as he silently prayed that the other would give him some peace of valuable advice that would help him handle Huor in the near future.
"I may be able to help you do that. I can even help you win hearteart if you want to go that far with him, but you Semar, only you need to be sure you want a relationship with the tough elf that is Huor. You may never know what whims unsecured heart may bring to you in the future, and I warn you first to consider the consequences before you venture into a more dangerous path. Love can be sweet, but at the same time it can be sour."
Semar sighed and he quickly defended his point of view.
"I never said I want his heart, meldir. I just want to know how to handle his ..."
"Oh do not take me for fool, pen-neth. I know you want him and you love him. I can see it in your eyes every time you talk about him or every time you see him. It is there and don't you dare to deny it. The truth is you need him and if I am correct in my calculations he needs you too. You need him as I once had needed my ex-lover Haldir, but that his one story of my unfortunate life you already know about. Don't be a fool, meldir. Love may be tricky but you have to take that risk and be tricked at least once in your life."
Semar now blushed more then he did before and his friend gave him a comforting smile.
"So what do you propose I should do about this situation. I should do something, right. I cannot help myself with this feeling that beats for Huor and I cannot get him out of my life. I think I need help and I know you never refused to give me aid when I needed it the most. What should I do meldir." Semar asked as he looked at his friends eyes, and he was touched to see a true care in them that radiated from his friends gentle soul.
"Meldir. Did you ever hear that old saying: 'Fake illusions can win thy quick heart.' Stinah asked his friend but he knew the other didn't understand because Semar stared at him with confused expression on his face.
"Yes, but I never understood that saying. Do you know what is it about."
'That saying, my friend, is somehow included in this plan that will help you win Huor's favor. The only thing I will need is your cooperation on that matter, twenty-four hours a day, and you may be shocked when I explain this plan to you at first. Do not worry it is nothing you have to be scared about. So, erm, are you sure you still want my help on this situation, or would you rather think about it for a while."
Stinah finished with his speech and he watched his friend closely, trying to figure out the others decision. Semar on the other hand was fighting a war with his thoughts. He knew his friend was experienced in the ways of the trickery and the excited side of his brain told him to go on, but the shy side was telling him to stay away from the dangers of heartbreak that surely lay ahead of him. He ignored the shy side of his personality and he nodded with this head, because he didn't trust his words at that time.
"Hmm then shall we start, pen-neth. We don't have much time till we take our places on our posts. Listen ... very .. carefully." Semar nodded again and Stinah started talking about his plan consequences and the things he needed to do if Semar wanted to change his lover to suit him best.
