"What happened to him?"
"The dark took him, twisting him further than we ever thought it could. He was lost long ago."
"Where was he taken?"
"Somewhere quiet. Peaceful."
"Is he gone?"
"He faded. Like all elves do."
"Ye noe not telling me the whole truth." Tári exhaled softly and looked at Haldir as they sat on the stone steps in Imladris' rose garden. "I want to know."
"I don't know the whole truth, myself. They took him away, as they had to do. As they did to Arwen all that time ago. He's at rest now."
Biting her lip to hold back the tears, she nodded. "I can't believe he's gone. My brother is gone."
Touching her knee and rubbing softly, he replied, "I know. I don't know what else to say."
Tári smiled and rubbed her nose. "You have done and said so much, Haldir. Thank you."
He smiled in return. "And what of happier things?" he asked, changing the conversation. "Is Elrond better from the last time we spoke?"
"He is," she said, relieved. "Nearly new." The smile on her face faded slightly as she thought back. "I almost lost him."
"But you didn't."
Looking up with wet eyes, she leaned forward with seriousness in her expression. "If not for you, Elrond and I would both be dead. Or worse."
"I only wish I had found you sooner." Swallowing, he ventured a question. "Are you better as well, Tári? Have you spoken to Elrond about what occured?"
She nodded. "Yes, we've talked. It was difficult, but I think it's better now." Smiling, she added, "I'm better."
"Good. Now, is it time for our archery practice?" Haldir smirked and stood, holding out a hand.
Tári took it and stood, then brushed off her dress, smoothing the skirts. "I suppose. You must teach me that amazing aim of yours."
He laughed as they started towards the fields. "Luck, pure and simple," he said, winking when she widened her eyes in horror. "I jest. I will teach you everything I know."
"Everything you know," she repeated quietly. "Good. I want to learn."

That night arrived early. When Tári entered their room, Elrond looked up from his parchment and smiled. Returning the gesture, she closed the door and walked to the table, leaning against one of the chairs. "What are you doing?"
He set down his quill and sighed. "It's a letter to your father."
Knitting her brow, she looked down at the paper and asked, "About what?"
"The war. You. Legolas." Rolling the letter, he set it aside and stood up, taking her hand and leading her to the bed. Once they settled upon it with Tári wrapped in Elrond's arms, he asked, "How was your day?"
"Fine. Haldir anpracpracticed our archery." She snuggled in, reminded of just how close she had come to losing him.
His hand rubbed rhythmically along her arm. "How is the Marchwarden?"
"He's well." Looking up at Elrond, she frowned, "He asked about you. How you're doing. I told him you're feeling better." Pausing and biting her lip, she added, "You are feeling better, right?"
"Yes." Kissing her gently on the forehead, he continued, "Worry not about me, Tári. I will heal. Concentrate on your own recovery."
Shaking her head and sitting up, she looked at him with a subdued expression. "My physical wounds are nothing. My concern lies with what Legolas did to us. What you watched him do to me was horrible."
His warm hand cupped her face as his eyes moved over her features. "It was. It kills me that I was not able to stop him."
Licking her lips and leaning forward, she asked, "But we can move on, right? What he did cannot influence our relationship forever."
A small smile creased his lips. "No, it can't. We will move on."
Tári's voice became breathy as she lowered herself to his lips. "I want to move on now."
Closing her eyes, she allowed Elrond to run his hands through her hair as they kissed. His tongue traced her lips gently and she opened to him, allowing the heated search of her mouth. Moaning softly against him, she parted with a flutter of her heart.
"I love you," he said, brushing the dark locks behind her ears. "You know that, right?"
Smiling seductively, she answered, "I do."
Pressing her by the shoulders, Elrond lowered her to the bed and crawled over her. Fingering the straps of her dress, he asked, "And do you love me in return?"
Tári smoothed her hands along his sides. "You know I do."
Dipping his face to hers, Elrond kissed her deeply and intensely, sucking heavily and making sure she was breathless. With small pauses for air, he continued attacking her lips as she returned the hunger, wrapping her arms around him and drawing him as close as possible.
Sliding the straps of her dress down her shoulders, Elrond pulled his mouth from hers and started along her jawline and neck, dropping wet kisses to the warm skin down to her now-exposed breasts. Tári held a hand to his head and closed her eyes as he took the supple flesh into his mouth and bit gently.
Gasping at the sensation, she breathed his name as Elrond lapped at her breasts. He massaged and pinched her upraised skin, teasing her into pleasured whimpers.
Moving his mouth downward, he tickled at her abdomen as he drew the dress down the length of her body. Sitting up, he pulled the garment from her and tossed it to the floor, then went for the straps of her panties. Watching her quietly, he slowly slid his fingers around the waistband and brought the last of her clothing down her legs. When she was nude before him, he laid beside her and rubbed softly around her belly button.
"I will make you forget all the pain you ever had," he whispered huskily, trailing his hand to where her legs parted.
Tári stared into his eyes and bit her lip as he traced a finger over her sensitive skin. "Elrond," she breathed, holding back a groan as he pushed into the folds of her flesh.
Teasing her softly one moment, then thrusting forcefully the next, he moved his fingers expertly within her until she was sufficiently wet. Pressing deeply within her, watching her fluttering eyes, he asked, "How are you feeling?"
Holding back the trembling that threatened to take over her body, she turned to him and attacked his mouth with hers, rolling her tongue over and around his until she was out of breath. Hurried fingers worked at his shirt, drawing the ties until his chest was exposed and her hands rubbed softly at the skin beneath.
Pulling his hand from her, Elrond smiled and moved over her, working at the ties of his pants until he was free. Tári parted her legs and swallowed heavily as he positioned himself and lowered, inserting his flesh into her body.
Tári exhaled heavily and arched back as he entered, groaning at the slick intrusion. Moving downward as far as he could, Elrond bit at her breasts, enjoying the sensation of being so far within. When the need was too much, he looked up at her and pulled his hips back, then surged foward once again.
Crying out as he thrust into her, Tári brought her legs up and wrapped them around his hips. She rolled herself up to meet him as he pushed within her. Breathing heavily, Elrond crushed his lips against hers and muffled her whimpers as he jerked hard into her.
The room filled with panting and heavy groans as they moved towards their climax. Tári moved her hands into his shirt and slid them over his back, drawing him down to her as she began to tremble beneath him. Elrond thrust quickly and roughly, and she gasped in a breath as she succumbed to the sensations growing within her body.
As she shook beneath him, Elrond thrust into her and met his own release, groaning loudly and falling onto her. Tári's numb legs slid down to the bed as she laid there, the heat of his body covering her like a blanket.
Smiling as he looked up, he kissed her softly and brushed the moist hair from her face. "Did I make you happy?"
"You always do," she replied, accepting another kiss.
