The Fire Dance
Ch158
Glorfindel quickly manoeuvred Erestor to laying on his back, then
narrowed his eyes at Orome "But he is not due yet!"
"Well now he is"
"But my lord! he is only in his 9th month!"
Erestor growled as he fisted the dirt beneath him "10 months! I am in
the first week of my 10th month!!"
Glorfindel gently caressed his cheek "Aye my Rabbit, I apologize, the
beginning of your 10th month"
*Growl* "Shut up Findel!"
Orome arched his brow as the dark adviser reached out, then grabbed
his throat and squeezed "I want answers! I want to know why some adan
poisons Findel while he carried Gwee, then he delivers early...and
then...Aiyah! Oh!...*growl*...and then I consume a little poisonous
foliage and...Ahhh!...now I am made to deliver early
and...OhhhhowowowowTsssssshaaa!!"
"That just happens to be coincidental...now release my neck little one"
"Nay!!"
A few steps away, Tulkas chuckled "I like him"
Orome rolled his eyes "You would!" then looked back down at Erestor
"Release my neck little one, I can not assist you if you are trying to
choke me"
Erestor narrowed his eyes "Assist me?! What are You doing to assist
me! You bring me out to the place that caused me great pain! Just to
force me into great pain! How is THAT suppose to help!!"
Tulkas turned and smirked "You know, he has a valid point...his pain
in this place is drawing evil eyes...I can feel it"
Glorfindel frowned "Evil eyes my lord?"
Tulkas nodded as he pulled his dagger to join his sword "Aye, this
place is full of the memory's of pain and evil. Now more looks this
way...you best hurry Orome"
Erestor growled as he released the Huntsman's neck "Valar or no! When
this is all finished I am going to knock you on your Arse!!"
Glorfindel growled as he mumbled under his breath "After I beat him"
Orome sighed as he pulled his blade "I heard that Glorfindel, now, are
you going to make yourself useful? Or are you going to do some more
mumbling"
Erestor, having spied the blade, clenched his jaw as his hands quickly
covered his stomach "You know what, I have changed my mind...just
leave the little one in there...I'm fine with that! I'm done here,
Findel lets go home now"
As Erestor attempted to sit up, Glorfindel placed his hand on his
mates forehead and smoothed his hair back as he spoke softly "Hush now
my sweet Rabbit"
Orome looked at Glorfindel "He should Not get up Glorfindel...stop him"
Glorfindel shot him a knowing glance, then held out his hand "I will
let no one cut my mate...give me your dagger my lord"
Erestor relaxed a bit as Orome forfeited his dagger, then tensed up
again when Glorfindel stated "This is My task as his mate, back off my
lord"
"Wh...what? Findel you...you can not do this you have never done thimmphff..."
Glorfindel smiled kindly as he pressed a kiss to his loves forehead,
then removed his hand from the advisers mouth "Erestor, you can trust
me with this", then narrowed his eyes at the Huntsman "You best make a
needle and some thread appear for when I am done...unless you are
going to heal him right after"

Torfindel smiled as he looked over the contents, then read aloud "Of
The Fire Dance & Bonding Circle"
Taurath tilted his head "Why do you smile so?"
Gwee sighed as he sat back "That was how my parents became bound"
"Truly? Would you read it to me?"
Pulling the book into his lap, Torfindel found the chapter, then began
to read......
Of the Fire Dance and Bonding Circle
Henceforth written by Arhyarmen, Head Librarian of Gondolin
Fire dances are a special way of honoring a particular warrior. One
might be performed to commemorate a battle or to mark a rite of
passage. Properly built, the bonfire should blaze no less than
one-half the height of the Great Courtyard Fountain of Ecthelion.
There is no set width, but it is desirable to cover a large enough
area for a multitude of dancers to move freely around the flames.
Dancers should be the warrior's fellow comrades; a substitution might
be made in cases of close kin who are not of warrior status.
Similarly, fire dances are sometimes performed for rites of passage
for the sons of great warriors, as a symbol of status. These
occasions are ones of great pride for the family and house of the honoree.
A related matter is the addition of a bonding circle to the fire dance
celebration. Building of a bonding circle requires a number of large
stones, the size of one's fist. These are placed in a tight circle,
within which one ellon stands. He should have the freedom of two wide
paces of movement in any direction. During the fire dance, the one
in the bonding circle moves only within the confines of the circle he
has built. If he knocks a stone out of place, his dance stops and
fails. If someone else breaks the circle, they are considered bound.
Although an elleth may break a bonding circle, it is considered
inappropriate for ellith to create a bonding circle. It is also only
ellon who participate in the dance of fire. Bonding circles are
sometimes performed separate from the fire dance, but in most cases
accompany the latter. Fire dances are often held without a bonding
circle. No more than one bonding circle is allowed at one time; this
is so that all other eligible persons are free to break the dancer's
circle.
Fire dances originated early in the second century of the age, with
the bonding circle soon becoming a parallel tradition. The first
circle was held in 211, when a member of the noble House of the
Swallow was bound to a member of the acclaimed House of the Harp.

When Gwee was finished reading the text, he looked over at Taurath and
tilted his head "Uh, Taur? Why are you smiling so broadly?"
~*~*~
Orome smiled and he reached out, then placed his hand on Erestor's
stomach "Congratulations little one", then pulled his hand away
Erestor took a deep breath as he looked down at his belly, then sighed
relieved when he saw that it was healed "Han...hannon le my lord...I
do not think that...I could have handled being stitched at this time"
Not feeling anymore evil in the area, Tulkas sheathed his dagger and
sword, then walked over and nodded "Dry your eyes Glorfindel and let
us see the little life"
The seneschal beamed with pride as he unwrapped his and Erestor's new
elfling and Tulkas laughed "A golden one this time ay? You should name
him Glorion!"
Glorfindel looked over at his dark mate and received a tired nod, then
smiled "As you wish my lord, Glorion he is"
