Chapter 15
You wake up shivering. Your teeth chatter as you pull the blankets closer to you. Blankets? Didn’t you fall asleep at Erestor’s door? You sit up. Holy shit! That really happened!
“Are you all right?” Elrond asks. He looks exhausted. He feels your forehead and frowns. “You still haven’t warmed up yet.”
“I’m-“ ‘fine’ stops on your tongue. You’re not fine. You’re anything but fine. “Awful. I can’t believe it happened. I thought she was him.” You feel another wave of coldness crash on you. Your shoulders feel heavy and you’re feeling drowsy again. You fall against your pillows.
“Rose!” Elrond cries in alarm.
“What’s wrong?” Elladan asks. He comes to your side and curls his fingers around yours. “Her hands are ice.”
“She’s going back again. We need Erestor!” Elrond grabs a warm cloth and puts it on your forehead. “Fight it, Rose. Fight it.”
You don’t understand. What are you fighting? You try to speak, but your vocal chords refuse to work.
“Elrohir’s trying to talk to him, but he still won’t see anyone,” Elladan says.
“Tell him that if he doesn’t get in here she will fade,” Elrond says.
Fade? As in die? You don’t want to die! You fight to sit up, but Elrond keeps you don’t. “This isn’t a physical enemy. You have to fight it with your heart.”
Your bitter laugh turns into a cough. ‘It’s too late for that,’ you think. ‘I don’t have a heart anymore.’ Tears fall down your cheeks.
Elrond looks back at Elladan. “Get Erestor in here. Even if you have to break down the door. Now.”
Elladan runs out of the room.
Elrond takes your hands and rubs them. “I know what happened that night,” he says. “The elf’s name is Sabrina. If nothing else, you need to survive so you can defend your honor because she is telling everyone lies about what happened.”
You can’t meet his eyes. You stare at his hand. They’re so warm, almost burning yours. Why is he telling you this? It’s making you feel worse.
He takes your chin in his hand and forces you to look at him. “I know you and I know you wouldn’t hurt Erestor. I know you kissed her, but I also believe you only did it because you thought it was him. You need to make sure she realizes that too.”
‘Easier said than done,’ you think.
“Let me go!” Erestor screams in the hallway. You can only imagine what the twins did to get him this far.
“We will once you stop acting like a jackass-“ Elladan says.
“And take care of Rose,” Elrohir finishes.
“I don’t want anything to do with her!” Erestor shouts.
You whimper. The darkness is calling you. Elrond shakes you. “You have to fight it,” he says. “Erestor will come around, he’s just not thinking right.”
You shake your head. Erestor won’t ever want anything to do with you again. No more hugs. No kisses. No more affection. No more wedding. You cry and hiss when another wave of cold splashes on you.
The door bursts open. With a twin on either side, Erestor is dragged into the room. He tries to fight them off, but isn’t strong enough. He stills when he sees you.
“Oh my-“ Erestor swallows. The twins let him go. He doesn’t move. “She’s grey.”
“She’s fading,” Elrond says. “And she’s not fighting it.” He must see something you don’t see in Erestor because he let’s you go and stands. “Let’s go, they need some time alone.”
“Father, you can’t be-“ Elladan begins.
“We’re leaving. Now.” Elrond’s tone shows he won’t take no for an answer. The twins cast one last glance at you before following him out the room.
You feel abandoned. Why do they have to leave you here with only Erestor as company?
“You realize what you did, don’t you?” he asks. The hate in his voice stings. “She’s bragging to every elf in her troop about how she had her way with you.”
You are hurt Erestor believes her. “All we did was kiss, and that’s because I thought it was you.”
He looks at you with disbelief. “We look nothing alike. There is no way you couldn’t tell us a part.”
“I wasn’t exactly sober when I did it!” you shout. “And it was in a dark hallway. Besides, are you forgetting about the fact you saw all that we did?!”
You can’t stand the way Erestor is looking at you. You can see his pain and his sorrow. You’d rather die than have to see it. Coldness drowns you. You shiver, but are too weak to curl up. Your tears are frozen to your cheeks. You close your eyes and turn your head from him.
“Rose.” He sounds alarmed.
You don’t answer. You feel the mattress sink and arms encircle you. Erestor pulls you close to him as he sobs. “I’m sorry Rose. Please don’t fade. I can’t survive if you’re gone. You’re the only thing that’s made life worth living. I don’t care about last night. Please just live.” He turns you so you are facing him. His tears fall on you as he kisses every part of your face.
His warm kisses heats you up in more ways than one. As you feel the coldness recede, you greedily kiss him back. His tongue sweeps through your mouth and dances with yours. You cup his face. You kiss him like it’s your last. When you break, you see his cheeks are flush and his eyes are dark.
He nibbles affectionately on your lip before kissing his way down your face. You pant as his kisses cover your neck. He licks the nape of your neck. You arch against him. He takes off your dress. He kisses down your collar bone.
He takes your breast in his mouth. You moan. Your fingers bury in his hair. His hands caress your ears. He moves to your other breast. He bites your nipple. It hardens in his mouth.
He kisses his way down your stomach. He removes your underwear. He guides your leg over his shoulder. He buries his face between your legs. His tongue plunges into you. You cry out. You press his head against you as you buck your hips. All coldness is gone. You are on fire.
He holds your hips down. He laps, his tongue flickering against your clit. “Erestor, please,” you beg. He takes your clit in his mouth. You scream when he sucks on it. “I’m- ah!” You come. He continues to please you until you come down from your orgasm. You rub his head as he kisses your clit.
He moves up your body and kisses your lips. You taste yourself. You break the kiss and nuzzle against him. “I love you Rose,” he says.
As you fall asleep you murmur; “I love you too.”
