Chapter15/?

When Galadriel and Celeborn had returned to the table after their dance to find Elrond and Thranduil discussing whether or not to tell their children the truth, she had immediately suggested they do so.

“Would you also speak the truth my lady?” Thranduil had dared to ask, staring unflinchingly into Galadriel’s’ eyes, well aware that she saw more than most.

“Aye, ‘tis time to admit that Celeborn and I know of the love you and Elrond share,” she said, her answer surprising no one. “Your children also have a right to know. You both have suffered much and yet your love has not only survived, but flourished. I have never seen either of you happier than you are now and I believe you owe it to yourselves to live your life to the full,” she said with genuine affection for them both.

“How long have you known?” Elrond asked, addressing Celeborn.

“Since Dagorlad. After it became apparent to Oropher and Ereinion that you two were lovers, both sought my counsel as to how to dissuade you from continuing on that path. Neither were pleased with my response, for, like Perion, I could do nothing other than support your relationship. It is beyond any of the Firstborn or even the Valar to interfere with Eru’s song and it is that music which binds lovers’ hearts and souls,” Celeborn told them as he reached to gently caress his wife’s cheek in a gesture of love and affection before continuing. “Even had I not been certain of the depth of your commitment before then, the very fact that you defied your Adar, and simply chose to keep your lover a secret rather than give him up, told me all I needed to know.”

“It pained me to deceive Adar but I had to follow my heart. Why have you not spoken of this sooner?” Thranduil said, his voice tinged with sadness as he recalled the arguments that marred his last few days with his beloved Adar. Elrond sensed his melancholy and reached over to briefly squeeze his lover’s fingers in a gesture of comfort, smiling affectionately as he felt the tight grip of Thranduil’s response before he reluctantly pulled his hand away.

“Out of respect for your choice to keep the truth to yourselves in the name of duty to your people and your realms, and later on to protect the honour of your wives and children,” Galadriel said with a hint of disapproval. She had cautioned her daughter against a marriage to one who loved another, but Celebrían had simply told her parents that she loved Elrond, and saw only happiness in their future together.

“Celebrían was aware of my love for Thranduil, but she also knew that I loved her as much as my heart would allow,” Elrond said, feeling as if he needed to speak in his own defence.

“And my beautiful Elisiel also accepted that my heart belonged to Elrond, and she freely gave me the love and support I needed to help me survive the separation of time and distance from my soul mate. Legolas is a gift beyond measure, and for him alone I will ever hold her dear in my heart,” Thranduil added.

“And I have no doubt that your children are mature enough, and love you enough to be able to understand such things. Do you not think it is time you allowed yourselves to experience Eru’s song in all its beauty, as Erestor and Glorfindel do?” Celeborn asked, winking at his kinsman who actually blushed at the innuendo.

“I doubt I have the stamina for that at my age, and Elrond is even older,” Thranduil scoffed, easing the tension of the sombre discussion with a little levity.

“But I am not as old as Glorfindel, so there is hope for us yet, bel...” Elrond replied his eyes dancing with amusement and almost forgetting himself and calling Thranduil beloved. Celeborn and Galadriel exchanged an indulgent smile, pleased to see the two already beginning to be able to display their relationship even if in a subtle manner.

“So when will you make an announcement? Would you like a celebration of some sort?” Galadriel asked eagerly obviously already planning the occasion.

“We have not yet decided but whatever we do, it will not be until we have spoken with our children,” Elrond, still feeling the need for caution, answered for them both.

“Aye and if you will excuse us, I think we should retire to discuss this further,” Thranduil said, the glitter of desire in his eyes displaying his true intent to his lover.

Celeborn shook his head in exasperation as he watched Elrond leave the hall alone, Thranduil following several minutes later in the company of Haldir and Perion.

“They are as stubborn as their Adars,” Galadriel commented to her husband who nodded his agreement. “They just need a little assistance to overcome millennia of self sacrifice and secrecy,” she replied the look in her eyes telling Celeborn that she intended to see to it that they did.

******************

Over the years Imladris had been visited by many people of different races who occasionally exhibited behaviour that seemed strange to the elves who dwelt there, but never before had a sight been seen quite like the one that greeted the head cook when she arrived at her kitchen in the quiet hour before dawn to begin the day’s baking.

Seated at the small table that was often used by those needing a quick meal before embarking on some errand or other, were the three most unlikely companions. Erestor was no stranger to the kitchen, and undoubtedly Thranduil’s steward, Perion was also familiar with Greenwood’s counterparts, but to see them sipping hot herbal tea as they spoke quietly with the Lady Galadriel was definitely an eye opener.

As if that was not strange enough, the loose shirts and leggings the advisor and the steward wore and the robe that covered the lady’s nightgown suggested they had all just risen from their reverie.

Why they were in her domain in such a state of undress remained a mystery until the cook remembered that Glorfindel was delivering the wine and baskets of festive foods that had been prepared the night before to his patrols today. Erestor always joined his lover for an early morning meal whenever the seneschal’s duties called him away, but that did not explain the presence of the lady and the steward.

Erestor glanced over at the cook and, easily discerning the reason for the confusion on her face, decided to offer an explanation.

“Good morning, Leniel. It seems that Glorfindel has convinced the Lord Celeborn and Haldir to join him on his patrol today, so naturally we who are left behind decided to share a warm drink rather than return to our cold and empty beds,” he said with a smile at the slight pink colour that rose in Leniel’s cheeks when he kissed her hand lightly.

“Ai, you are almost as wicked as our beloved seneschal,” she teased, nonetheless flattered by the attention of the advisor who she, and many others to her knowledge, considered to be every bit as handsome and charming as his lover. “Would you care for something to eat, my lord, my lady?” she enquired of the two who were watching the exchange with some amusement. When they both shook their head to indicate they required nothing else, Leniel took her leave and returned to her duties.

“I understand from Elrond and Thranduil that you two are aware of their relationship,” Galadriel said, taking advantage of the opportunity to discuss the matter with the two who could be of most assistance in convincing the lovers to reveal their secret to all.

Erestor and Perion exchanged a wary glance.

“They are friends of old, but that is common knowledge,” the steward offered.

“Aye, but Celeborn and I know they are also lovers of old, soul mates no less in love than Erestor and Glorfindel, and he tells me that you spoke up against Oropher in their defence on several occasions,” she said looking at Perion who nodded.

“Aye, I did, and to this day I still believe my King erred in his judgment where his son’s heart was concerned,” Perion said.

“I am impressed. Oropher was not one to suffer dissension lightly,” Erestor said with a slight bow to the ancient steward.

“Nay but he was a good friend and loved his son dearly, so he forgave me much,” Perion replied.

“Tell me Erestor, how is it that you and Glorfindel know of this very well kept secret that they have told no one else?” Galadriel asked curiously.

“We found out by pure chance the day Thranduil arrived in Imladris,” Erestor replied after a pause, obviously unwilling to tell the whole tale.

“No doubt to a very warm and enthusiastic greeting,” Perion said winking knowingly as he easily guessed the reason for the slight colour that had risen in Erestor’s cheeks.

“As one would expect of lovers who have been apart a longer time than ever before,” Galadriel commented. “It is this very situation that I wish to address. I believe it is time they allowed themselves the freedom to express their feelings openly, yet I am having difficulty in convincing them to do so.”

“I agree with you in part, but do you not think the decision is theirs to make?” Perion asked.

“Of course, I am merely suggesting that you two could offer a little sage advice,” Galadriel replied.

“Such is the role of advisor or steward,” Erestor conceded with a slight edge to his voice. “Perion has offered to assist me with the last minute preparations for tonight’s celebrations, so we have plenty of time to discuss the matter and perhaps even speak with Elrond and Thranduil.”

*******

“Are you seriously considering interfering in this, for that is what she is asking us to do?” Perion asked Erestor after Galadriel left to see to her appointments for the day.

“Nay and I believe a word of warning is in order for our lords, they are not the only stubborn ones on Imladris this day,” Erestor said indicating that Perion should follow him.

When they reached the door to Erestor’s old chambers, the steward knocked loudly and called to his king. After a few moments a muffled voice bid him enter, and he smiled at the sight of Thranduil, his nakedness obvious under the sheet that barely covered his thighs, panting heavily against the bare chest of the very flushed lord of Imladris.

“Not interrupting anything, are we?” Erestor teased, knowing full well that was exactly what they were doing.

“Nothing that can not be finished later,” Thranduil replied in a voice husky with unspent need.

“What brings you two here at this early hour, and why are you wandering about in your sleeping clothes?” Elrond asked as he eyed the two dishevelled elves who had taken seats on the end of the bed.

“Glorfindel went on patrol, and took Celeborn and Haldir with him,” Erestor said with a shrug.

“And we have just had a rather interesting conversation with Galadriel,” Perion added.

“About what?” Thranduil asked, his senses on alert as he recognised the worry in his steward’s voice.

“You and Elrond. She thinks it is time you declared your love to all,” he replied.

“Aye, we know, and she wants to make it a formal celebration. Our private life is really none of her concern nor anyone else’s for that matter,” Elrond said angrily.

“We could not agree more, this is merely meant as an apparently unnecessary but nonetheless courteous word of warning,” Erestor replied rising from the bed and beckoning Perion to follow with a nod. “Come my good steward, we need to get dressed. My lord is obviously indisposed this morning and there are many tasks till requiring attention.”

“I know Galadriel only wishes for us to be happy, but I find I am annoyed by her arrogant presumption,” Elrond said his grey eyes flashing with anger. Thranduil hugged him close, and immediately turned his attention to something far more pleasurable.

“Hmmm, and you are also so very tense. Perhaps there is something I can do to help relax you?” Thranduil offered as he ran his fingertips over the skin that still bore a light sheen of sweat form their interrupted lovemaking. He moved his hand slowly over the tight muscles, his fingers playfully teasing the weeping tip of Elrond’s bobbing erection.

When his lover had called to their untimely visitors to enter, Elrond had been writhing so wantonly beneath Thranduil as he thrust deeply into his tight passage that he had barely been able to restrain the release that was coursing through his body.

“It is your doing that I am like this. Whatever possessed you to answer the door?”

“I thought the delay might heighten your enjoyment, my love. Shall we find out?” Thranduil asked as he crushed their lips together in a fierce kiss, thrusting back into the still well prepared opening at the same time. He reached between their bodies to take a firm grip on Elrond’s hard cock and had barely stroked its full length when he felt hot seed cover his hand and the tightening of inner muscle around his own shaft, forcing a stream of creamy fluid to spurt forth.

“Ai, Thranduil!” Elrond screamed as his lover pumped wildly into him savouring every last spasm, as the slowly softening member brushed his prostrate.

“Elrond!” the king screamed in reply before slumping in exhaustion at his lover’s side, showering him with soft kisses and whispering ”I love you,” over and over again.

“I love you, too, but I am totally exhausted.” Elrond replied drowsily.

“We have the rest of the day to recover, but for now, sleep does seem to be an excellent idea,” Thranduil replied as he pulled Elrond closer.

“I wonder how they do it so often.” Elrond said slowly, yet making Thranduil smile knowing his lover was referring to Glorfindel and Erestor.

“With much pleasure, I imagine,” he replied, barely managing a chuckle at his own humour as his eyes glazed over and he followed Elrond into his dreams.

*********

Erestor had just left his chambers when he heard the cries of passion echoing through the silence of the empty passageway, and silently congratulated himself for his well considered allocation of guest chambers.

In the moments of silence that followed the shouts, he imagined the lovers were entwined in the similar gentle embrace that and Glorfindel had spent the night in after their lovemaking. With a sigh of envy and his cock already hard in anticipation of Glorfindel’s return, he blew a kiss in the direction the riders had departed and headed towards his office, adjusting his robes to cover the telling bulge.
