This story has been floating around in my mind and demanded to be written. It features a darker Elladan than we are used to and a young vulnerable Legolas. For the purpose of this story, I have decided (with some advice from the great and wonderful Min.) that the age of majority for an elf is 500 years. Legolas will reach his majority during the year of their betrothal. NO underage sex!!! NO non-con and NO rape!!!
Feedback: Would be wonderful and makes me type faster!
Summary: Mithrandir arrives in the valley and is not happy with the arrangements Elrond has made concerning Legolas. The prince wakes before Elladan and admires the elf warrior before waking him. Elladan makes his feelings known.
Chapter Thirteen
Legolas struggled to remain asleep while his latest dream replayed in his mind, but the sun shining through the window made the prince give up the fight. Something wasn’t right. There was a body pressed close to him and strong arms held him. (Elladan? Oh Valar, it wasn’t a dream!) He didn’t know whether to shout with joy, or try to prepare for the moment the elf warrior awakened and decided it had been a mistake.
The prince turned in the arms so he was facing Elladan, immediately noticing how peaceful and innocent he looked. The elf warrior’s features were relaxed and he appeared like he didn’t have a care in the world. Legolas found himself wishing that Elladan always looked this way. In his eyes Elladan was beautiful, more beautiful than any elf maid or elf the prince had ever seen.
He could not help brushing some loose hair from the fair face he was staring at, or allowing his fingers to slide through the softness of Elladan’s ebony locks. The prince would give anything if his betrothed would always look at him as he had done the night before. Affection and desire burned in the elf warrior’s eyes. Legolas remembered those gray orbs looking at him and felt a shiver of delight travel up his spine.
Worried that Elrond might come to check on Elladan soon, Legolas touched the elf warrior’s chest and shook him awake.
“Elladan, you must wake so we can clean up before your father comes to check on you,” the prince said regretfully.
The elf warrior looked up at Legolas and smiled. “You stayed.”
“Aye, but we must get…” Legolas began, before Elladan leaned down and captured his lips in a soft kiss.
“What were you saying?” the elf warrior asked with a grin.
“I need to get us washed before your father arrives,” the prince said quickly, trying to get out of the hold Elladan had on him.
“Aye, you are right Legolas,” he said as he let his betrothed free. “I would be rather embarrassed if my father thought I was having lustful dreams and spent myself.”
Legolas blushed, but handed Elladan a warm cloth to clean himself. “That would be an uncomfortable situation to find yourself in. I should bathe and dress so I can be ready for breakfast.”
“Wait,” Elladan said, grabbing Legolas’ hand and looking him in the eye. “Do you regret what passed between us?”
Silently cursing his ease at blushing, the prince took a deep breath. “Nay, I do not. I am more concerned you will consider it a mistake and not touch me again until we are bound.”
Elladan raised an eyebrow and thought about Legolas’ answer before replying. “I do not think of it as a mistake. Do not fear, Ernilen, you are too much of a temptation to not touch you again,” the elf warrior assured him. “Go bathe and relax. We will speak of this further after father leaves and we have had breakfast.”
Legolas nodded slowly and left to bathe.

Mithrandir arrived after darkness had fallen, and spent the night in the room that was considered his. Trouble had caused a delay in traveling to Imladris, but now that he was here, he intended to make sure Legolas was doing well. Leaving the prince alone in a place where he knew no one had been a necessity, and he could only hope that Elladan and Legolas were getting closer.
Call it intuition, or the ability to know and understand elves, but the wizard had a feeling things were going well between them. Perhaps too well. Since he arrived in the valley, he felt Legolas was content and there was no feeling of anger from Elladan. The Istari could hardly wait to speak with Elrond to see what had taken place to cause the animosity between them to end.
Opening his door, he saw Elrond was preparing to knock. “Just the elf I wanted to see!” the wizard said with a chuckle.
“How are you, my friend?” the elflord asked with a smile, while walking into the room.
“A wizard’s work is never done, but I seem to be doing well,” Mithrandir answered, offering Elrond a chair.
“I was told you arrived during the night, and I thought we might speak before I check on Elladan,” Elrond replied, and then added, “He was wounded in the leg during a skirmish with orcs. My son will be fine, but is confined to his room for a fortnight. I have Legolas taking care of him, helping him when he needs something.”
“So they are getting along?” the Istari asked with interest.
“They seem to be. Elladan explained that they decided to start over,” Elrond said with a smile. “Legolas saved his life and his leg.”
“That explains why I don’t feel anger coming from him,” the Istari replied with a small smile. “I feel contentment from Legolas, but he does miss Taur-nu-Fuin and his adar.”
“The prince was quite disappointed when you did not arrive when you promised,” the elflord informed him. “Other than that, he has been a pleasure to have around. Legolas gets along with everyone, and can often be seen with a few elves of the same age. The only thing that sets him apart is his extraordinary skill at archery. Elladan has begun to train him with the sword, and he is doing better than expected.”
“The news is better than I hoped,” the wizard replied while leaning back in his chair. “I have to admit I was worried when the Valar demanded it. Thranduil’s reaction was expected, and so was yours, my dear friend.”
“Elladan’s was explosive to say the least,” Elrond added with a shake of his head. “Hopefully that will change now that they are sharing my son’s chamber.”
Mithrandir looked at Elrond in surprise. “What do you mean sharing? Thranduil will not be pleased and I have a mind to not be anywhere near Imladris when he finds out.”
“Legolas has his own room in Elladan’s suite. The only thing they share is a bathing chamber,” Elrond replied hastily. “I am wise enough not to court the king’s anger.”
“’Tis still a question of propriety,” the Istari said in reply.
“It was the only way to get them to talk and spend time together,” the elflord answered somewhat calmly. “They should be awake and ready for breakfast. Would you like to visit Elladan’s chambers so you can see there is nothing untoward going on?”
“I would be much relieved if I could see Elladan’s rooms, and see how he and Legolas interact,” the wizard said with a nod of his head.
“By all means; we will arrive unannounced,” Elrond replied, heading to the door. “I must stop and get supplies to change Elladan’s dressing on the way.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Legolas returned from his bath refreshed and dressed. “Breakfast should arrive soon, but your father hasn’t changed your dressing. Should I send someone to have breakfast delayed?”
“That would be a good idea I think,” Elladan replied with a nod. “There is nothing worse than cold breakfast.”
The prince made his way to the sitting room and the door to the hall. He stopped a maid and asked her that breakfast be delayed until after Elrond left. When he returned to Elladan’s room, Legolas sat on a chair next to the bed.
“I think if the furniture was moved in the sitting room you could practice your moves with the sword,” Elladan suggested. “I would rather you did not forget anything you know, and I could possibly teach you more. I don’t want you to be bored having to sit with me all day.”
“I wouldn’t be bored, but can do what you suggest,” the prince replied with an eager smile. “I promise I will not forget anything you have already taught me; my muscles certainly won’t. Learning without you being able to show me what you want will be a challenge I cannot pass up.”
Elladan chuckled and started to reply, but was interrupted when his father and Mithrandir walked in the door.
Legolas jumped to his feet and threw his arms around the wizard. “I missed you so much! Did you bring messages from my father?”
“I certainly did,” Mithrandir answered, laughing at his armful of elf. “The king misses you and here are the missives he sent for you,” he said, drawing the scrolls out of his voluminous robes.
The prince took the messages and returned to the chair before realizing why Elrond was there. Blushing, Legolas said, “I will go to the sitting room and read these while you change the dressings.”
“Thank you, Legolas,” Elrond replied before turning his attention to his son. As he helped Elladan undress, he asked, “Do you have any pain?”
“Some, but it is nothing I can’t deal with,” the elf warrior replied as he watched his father work.
“I will order something for your pain. Better to have it now instead of waiting until you are hurting badly,” the elflord answered. “The wound is healing well; no sign of infection. Legolas is taking good care of you.”
“Aye, he is,” Elladan replied with a grin. “The prince is totally different than I thought he was.”
“I knew he would forgive you for your past treatment of him,” Elrond said as he finished dressing the wound. “I only wish you had realized his worth before.”
“As do I,” the elf warrior agreed. “Legolas was happy to see you Mithrandir.”
“Aye and I was glad to see him in such good spirits,” the wizard answered with a grin. I am going to borrow him this afternoon so we can speak about his time here.”
Elladan gave the Istari a bright smile. “It will do him good to spend time with you. He was concerned when you didn’t show up when he expected you.”
“So I have been told, but I am here now and that is all that matters,” the wizard replied with a chuckle.
“I think our work here is finished, my friend,” Elrond said to Mithrandir. “Let us leave them so we can all break our fast.”
“Before we go, I would like to see Legolas’ room.” Mithrandir requested.
“You can go through the bathing chamber or to his door that leads from the sitting room,” Elladan offered wondering why the wizard wanted to see Legolas’ room.
“I will show you the way,” Elrond replied, taking the Istari by the arm and leading him to the prince’s room through the bathing chamber.
Mithrandir took note of everything about Legolas’ room and turned to the elflord. “Thranduil will not like this no matter how you explain it.”
“Elladan is injured and poses no threat to the prince’s innocence,” Elrond argued. “I take full responsibility for my actions and will argue the rightness of them to Thranduil or anyone else who questions my decision.”
“Let us hope you live long enough to explain your actions once the king finds out!” the Istari replied, shaking his head as they walked to the sitting room. “’Tis a dangerous game you are playing, my friend.”
Legolas looked up at them and smiled. “How is Elladan’s wound?”
“It is healing well, and there is no sign of infection,” Elrond answered, wrapping an arm around the prince’s shoulder. “Remember to call for me if he starts to feel warm or chilled. It could be signs of a fever.”
“I will, but what if he cries out in pain during the night?” Legolas asked curiously.
“I believe I will have some herbs sent for pain,” the elflord replied softly. “You must brew a cup of tea and mix them in it. If he continues to complain, send for me.”
Legolas nodded as he took everything in. “Is he not out of danger?”
“Infection could still develop, but I am sure he will be fine,” Elrond replied, trying to reassure the prince. “Are you all right, Legolas?”
“Aye, Elladan is much easier to get along with,” the prince replied with a blush.
Mithrandir listened and decided to change the topic. “Legolas, I wish to meet with you after the noon meal. It is lovely outside and I thought we could talk in the garden.”
“I will be there as soon as we finish our meal,” the prince agreed readily.
“Enjoy your breakfast, and I shall see you this afternoon,” the wizard responded while he and Elrond made their way out the door.
Legolas sank down on the couch and breathed a sigh of relief. He was not used to having such secrets, and he was afraid that the Istari would be able to tell he was hiding something.
“Legolas?” Elladan called from his bed. “Are you well?”
“Aye, I am fine,” the prince answered, walking into Elladan’s room. “I am just not used to hiding anything, and Mithrandir wants to speak to me alone after the noon meal.”
“I have faith in you, Ernilen,” Elladan replied softly. “Do not worry over it, or by the time you meet with him you will be ill.”
“I will try not to, Elladan,” Legolas said with a sigh. “Are you ready to go into the sitting room or would you rather have breakfast in here?”
“I would rather bolt the door and spend the day alone with you,” Elladan replied honestly while sitting up. “Since that will be impossible, I will settle for what time I have with you. Let us move to the sitting room before I am tempted to have you join me here.”
“Wrap your arm around my shoulder so I can help you,” the prince said, blushing all the way to his ears. Once Elladan was ready, Legolas helped him into the sitting room and onto the couch. “Are you comfortable?”
“As comfortable as I can be,” the elf warrior answered with a frown. “Why must Mithrandir meet with you today?”
“I did not ask, but I am sure he only wants to ensure I am well and happy here,” Legolas replied softly.
“Are you? Happy, I mean?” Elladan asked, searching the prince’s face.
Legolas could not look away, so captured was he by those gray eyes. “I am happier now that you will speak to me as someone you don’t despise.”
The knock on the door interrupted anything Elladan may have said in reply. Their breakfast had arrived and Legolas allowed the kitchen maid to wheel in the tray.
“Just leave the tray outside when you finish, my lords,” she said before leaving them alone once again.
Legolas handed Elladan his breakfast and sat down with his own. “I would not leave if given the opportunity,” the prince said without looking up from his plate.
“I would not let you,” the elf warrior replied ardently before he began eating.
Legolas’ heart skipped a beat at the emphatic tone in Elladan’s voice. So much had changed since he had saved the elf warrior, and he wondered if his attraction had somehow changed into something else. Something he was almost terrified to think about. Love. Could he love Elladan? Did he? The prince set his plate on the tray and sat back in the chair.
“Is there something wrong with the food?” Elladan inquired concerned.
“Nay, I am just not hungry,” Legolas said, not meeting Elladan’s eyes.
“Did I say something to upset you?” the elf warrior asked with more concern.
“You did not upset me, but what did you mean when you said you would not let me leave?” Legolas asked quietly.
“Because you are *mine*, Ernilen,” Elladan replied with a smile.
