Up in the Treetops
Title: Up in the Treetops
Author: Tuxedo Elf
Pairing: Rúmil/Elrohir
Rating: PG
Prompt: 005: There was something in this tree that I have never seen before.
Notes: A very, very, VERY belated birthday semi-drabble for Fim.
******************
“Come on, quickly!” Rúmil scurried up the tree like a squirrel, while below him, Elrohir struggled to keep up, his own ascent more akin to that of a bear than anything else.
“I am not a Wood Elf, I am not built for flying up trees!” he called back, swinging his leg over another branch. “Be patient!” Muttering under his breath, he continued making his way up the tree, well aware that Rúmil was most likely near the top already. He dare not even think of how he would get down again – not in one piece anyway.
Bouncing lightly on a high branch, Rúmil tried not to get frustrated. “You must be able to go faster than that! This is wonderful - There is something in this tree that I have never seen before!”
“Well, I can not,” Elrohir huffed. “I have mastered many things in my life, but tree climbing is not one of them.” Eventually, however, he did make it up to the top of the ridiculously high mallorn.
Holding out his hand, Rúmil pulled Elrohir up until they were resting in the canopy, the sun shining through the leaves. “There now, that was not so difficult!”
“Speak for yourself,” Elrohir replied. “I only hope going down is easier. What is this all about? What is in this tree that you have never seen before?”
Rúmil grinned cheekily and leaned close. “You.”
Elrohir’s jaw dropped inelegantly. “You got me all the way up here, just for that?! Rúmil, you are evil.”
“I am,” Rúmil agreed cheerfully. Flashing Elrohir a truly wicked grin, he edged closer, until his was almost in the Peredhil’s lap. “Though now we are here, we might as well enjoy ourselves.” Leaning forward he kissed Elrohir deeply, rubbing against him.
Elrohir squeaked in a most undignified manner, clutching at a branch. “Rúmil, don’t… I’ll fall!”
Rúmil’s eyes flashed with mischief. “Then I suggest you hold on tight.”
