Chapter 15

We shopped for what seemed like hours. I didn't really buy that much...a few novelty shirt that you'd only find in New Zealand, and a couple CD's since Elijah said you could never have too many. We had lunch at a small eatery...and I was introduced to the native dishes of the country. I must say that I'm glad I eat meat as almost every dish had sheep in it, in some form or another. It was delicious. Desert was my favorite food of all....chocolate ice cream. When we left, we decided to just drive around the island. The conversation was quiet, mostly Bill and Dom up front. Billy turned on the radio and I smiled when Evanescence came on over the speakers...softly filtering into the conversation. With out thinking, I'd begun to hum along...

I sat there listening to the words...my eyes closed and a slight smile on my lips. It finally began to sink in that Billy was humming along with me, our voices blending beautifully. When I reopened my eyes I felt a single tear slide down my cheek. Elijah wrapped his arms around me and kissed where the tear had left a streak across my face. Dom, attempting to lighten the mood spoke up, "You and Bills should sing together sometime. You sounded great together, a nice blend."

I blushed, "I never really thought of myself as a singer..." I stammered.

"Aye, but you've got a lovely voice there lass. I'd be honored to sing with you." Billy said. He turned in his seat to face me, "I usually bring my guitar to the cast parties, so does Viggo...we should put something together."

"Umm...you mean in front of the rest of the cast?"

Billy laughed, "Aye."

"I couldn't possibly do anything that would deserve such an audience."

"It's settled then!" Dom said. "Viggo and the others will be arriving tomorrow...so before we all go to Pete's house for the cast party I'll have him come over and you three can put something together."

Elijah patted my hand, "You wanted to be an actress right, Sarah?"

"More than anything."

"Well...think of this, Peter Jackson is going to be seeing you get up in front of strangers and sing."

"Jesus Mary and Joseph." I said, my face growing pale.

Billy reached around and patted my shoulder. "S'okay lass....we'd not want to make you uncomfortable...if you don't think you can do it, then don't worry about it."

I smiled, "I can do it...and I'll prove it to all of you."

Billy and Dom exchanged smiles, and Dom winked at Elijah.

"But you must choose the song Bills." I finished.

Billy laughed, "We have an accord then lass." We shook hands and smiled. "We'll sing In Dreams."

"What?"

"In Dreams." Elijah repeated, then he grinned proudly. "It's the words set to Frodo's theme." He stuck his nose in the air and pretended to act all haughty. "You have my permission to sing it."

"Oh really?"

"Do you know it lass?" Billy asked.

"Of course I do...just thought maybe it'd be something other than a Lord of the Rings song..."

"This'll be a Lord of the Rings Party...so what better to sing?"

"I guess. Alright then...In Dreams it is." I was all smiles on the outside but my mind was whirling, 'great! now you've done it haven't you? silly girl! now you're going to be singing with Billy Boyd, who in all rights deserves a record deal...and in front of the entire cast no doubt...' As Uncle Bilbo put it, "This would be a night to remember."
