Chapter 14

Betaed by AP.Thanks!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elrond exited the room after spending an hour checking on Glorfindel, he had decided it was time to leave Erestor and Glorfindel alone.
Erestor's stomach was in knots as he felt Glorfindel's angry glare shoot through him. He sighed preparing himself for the worst, wishing that Elrond had given him a sleeping potion, preferably one strong enough to knock him out for a year. He knew that his anxiety was foolish and that he had to face his fears sooner or later, upon reflection, he decided that sooner was better than later.
"Glorfindel are you feeling okay? Do you need Elrond?" Erestor inquired as he saw Glorfindel biting his lip as he attempted to move his body into a more comfortable position.
"I am fine as long as I don't move. Now, I would feel much better if somebody told me what you are doing here, in my bed. You don't look hurt to me, and I certainly doubt that the other healing rooms are missing beds."Â Glorfindel sighed as he brought his hand to the sheets, covering himself slowly.
"No, the other healing rooms are fine, and they don't miss furniture. Well, they weren't missing any the last time I checked." Erestor laughed at his awkward sense of humor. He stopped giggling as he noticed Glorfindel glaring daggers at him. Suddenly he had the urge to strangle himself. "Breathe, Erestor, Breathe." he inaudibly whispered to himself.
"I don't want to know about the furniture of the healing house, Erestor." Glorfindel said the advisor's name with a cold tone. "The only thing I want to know is what you are doing here?"
"Well, that is"¦ ummm... you see..."
"Hmmm... the person whose life is w is is made speechless, now that is a surprise. Erestor, I am not in the mood for your ramblings, leave me be so I can rest. I've been through hell lately and I don't need a snake like you watching my back. Leave." Glorfindel spoke harshly as his eyes closed and he took a deep breath.
"You see... I can't." Erestor said hesitantly, as he waited for Glorfindel's reaction and the next question that he knew would be his doom.
"What do you mean you can't. You can walk, can't you?"
"Its not about walking... its something else. You see, while you were in a coma I was the one who pulled you from death's grip by giving half of my life's force to you. So technically, now... now we are bonded. And I can't leave you." Erestor quietly finished his explanation. He felt like yelling in frustration so he took a deep breath to stabilize himself.
"You did what? Me... you... married? Oh, Valar!" Glorfindel said those less than comprehensible words with his shock plainly visible on his face. His exhaustion and confusion finally caught up with him and he groaned.
"Erestor, do you know what this means? This means that I am stuck with you for life! That I am stuck with this shame I feel, and this... this helplessness. Erestor, I was raped and now thanks to you I will never be able to escape the memories that will haunt and torture me forever! Why didn't you just let me die? Why didn't you have mercyave ave me be, please!" Glorfindel's tears muffled the sound of his words. The tears were drowning him and his heart felt unbearably sore.
"I can't, nay, I won't. There is nothing that you can do to make me leave you." Erestor remembered Elrond's words of strength and got closer to his blonde addiction, taking in the sorrow that surrounded Glorfindel as he stroked his hair.
Glorfindel felt his touch and flinched. "Don't touch me! Damn you! Damn you to Mordor and back"¦"
"Glorfindel, calm down! I won't hurt you. You are safe with me."
"You say you won't hurt me? Well its too late for that, you already did. Why don't you do me a big favor and leave; even if it means we will not survive."
"Glorfindel I am sorry about what happened between me and Valandil. I will regret it for the rest of my life. But you cannot just give up and fade away! I won't let you break our bond, that is final!" Erestor stubbornly crossed his arms, looking at the other, searching for signs of acceptance.
"I wasn't talking about Valan"¦ ughhh never mind!" Glorfindel blushed as he discovered that words that should have stayed unsaid, had just slipped out of him. He quickly tried to change the subject, praying that Erestor wouldn't notice his nervousness. "I have the right to break this bond and I think I will do it, even if it costs me my miserable life, or yours for that matter."
"Glorfindel, you can be so selfish sometimes. You better calm yourself down before I call for Elrond to deal with you. I don't think that he would appreciate your selfishly spoken words." Erestor had raised his voice at the other elf giving him a threatening look which helped somewhat, although the previous mentioning of Elrond's name was probably the key ingredient in Glorfindel's acquiescence.
"Fine. But I will need to speak with him to clear up this mess. I don't trust you Erestor. How do I know that this bond thing is not rubbish? Huh?" was Erestor's childish reply.
"Trust me, now I wish it was." Erestor lost his nerves and started to think that sleepy Glorfindel was much better than an angry-wounded-grumpy one. "How to handle you, that is the question. Wonder where Elrond keeps his sleeping potion, Glorfindel sure needs it." he thought with an evil smirk, but he cleared his mind o those thoughts as he Glo Glorfindel's tear-filled eyes, and suddenly he lost himself. To heecolecollect his courage and gather his thoughts he took a few deep breaths, and before he knew it, he had leaned over and kissed Glorfindel gently on the lips.
"Erestor, are you mad?! What are you doing?" Glorfindel yelled, causing Erestor to jump a few inches away, startled and embarrassed by what he had done.
"I... forgive me. I didn't mean to kiss you. I..." Erestor stood and fled to the adjoining room. He took panicky breaths as his heart fluttered around in his chest. He felt like he was going to cry, but the tears didn't come just yet, so he sat down on the floor bringing his hands to his head and covering his face. "How come everything is so complicated in my life? Why can't I be happy just once? He doesn't want me and he never will." he thought desolately as he heard Glorfindel calling his name from the other room. He realized that the door was open, so he had to ignore the voice, so he resorted to covering his ears with his palms and let the sobs wrack his body. His tears came rushing out and started forming pools of moisture on his clothes and staining his face with tears.
Glorfindel wanted so badly to stand up and go after Erestor, but his body just wouldn't let him. He felt the wave of emptiness wash over him, even though Erestor was only in the other room. He called for Erestor several times, but the other elf didn't answer. Minutes passed and Glorfindel could swear that he heard something coming from the other room. It sounded like small cries or sobs, but he wasn't positive. After ten seconds Glorfindel was sure that the other elf was crying, because he felt the same pain, and even the urge to cry. "It must be the bond that makes me feel this, feel Erestor's sadness. Valar. Why is he so sad?" Glorfindel thought to himself. Maybe Erestor was too sensitive, but he had never seen this side of him before"¦ He just wasn't sure.
"Erestor, come back...I didn't mean to upset you." Glorfindel listened again but he only heard the sniffles, so he decided to call som to to come check on Erestor.
"Arghh...I shouldn't have to put up with this. I am wounded for Valar's sake!" he mumbled to himself as he prepared his voice for the next (rather painful) yell. He hoped somebody in this Godforsaken realm would hear it.
He called for somebody, anybody that would come and end this madness. Elrond rushed in with a worried expron oon on his face, and as he scanned the room quickly he moved to the bed. His hand came to Glorfindel's shoulder gently persuading him to lay down.
"Where is Erestor?" Elrond asked as the tone of his voice changed to panic.
'He is in the other room. I think he's crying."
"Are you all right? Do you need anything?"
"No, but could you please check on him. I can sense that he is really upset. I don't know why but I can feel his... sadness, even though he's in the other room."
Elrond gave Glorfindel a small smile as he heard the word 'sense'. He knew that the bond had begun to work, mixing their feelings together. "All right, I will check on him. You stay still, and lay down! That is an order, Glorfindel!"
Elrond spun around, disappearing into the other room and closing the door behind him. There on the floor sat his wisest advisor, whose tear-streaked eyes were blank and whose sobs had become almost completely hushed.
"Erestor, what is wrong? Why are you so upset mellon-nin?" Elrond sat down beside his councilor and gave him a comforting hug.
"Oh, nothing. I was just thinking about my life and everything that is wrong in it."
"Wrong with it." Elrond repeated, correcting him. "Erestor, why this sudden thought? I don't think that your life is that bad. Yes, you have some ups and downs, but that is not out of the ordinary. Everybody has them. Tell me, what happened while I was away, did you two fight?"
"Yes, we did. I told him about our bond and he was angry. That's not all that made him angry though; I kissed him. Now I am too afraid to face him."
"You kissed him? I don't know what to say about that, but you mustn't despair and let your fears get the better of you. You have to go in there and be by his side, he needs you."
"I can't. I wouldn't know what to say if he asked me why I kissed him. I just can't face him again."
"Erestor, you must go in there. You need to stay close to him. I will be there with you if that's any consolation. The bond needs to get stronger and if you stay away well, I don't want to think about what may happen."
"All right. I will go back, but only if you stay with us for a while. I don't think that I am ready to face him now, but at least your presence will be comforting."
"Come, do not linger. Every parted second is dangerous now that you are in this bondstanstance can make it weaker.
"Oh, my Valar. He can't be in love with me. Can he?"Â Huor shook his head in confusion and called the name of the person that had stood there at the door only seconds ago.
"Semar, Semar are you there!"
Calaglin jumped of the bed and scanned the room quickly not finding the other elf there.
"Calaglin, Semar was standing over there at the door, can you go fetch him? I would like to have a word with him."
"Yes, certainly. You just relax and don't try to sit up." Calaglin replied as he left the healing room, looking for Semar. He wondered where the other had disappeared to so quickly, unsure where to begin Calaglin decided to visit Semar's chambers. He wasn't sure where the guard's chambers were, but he didn't need to because small sobs stopped him in his tracks. He recognized Semar's voice coming from the room in front of him. He knocked several times but got no answer, so he finally decided to invade the others privacy, to make sure he was all right. He entered the darkened room and found Semar curled up on the floor as the small sobs wracked the hunched over guard's body.
"Semar, why do you cry? What's wrong?" Calaglin inquired, but secretly he knew what the trouble was. "The other elf is jealous of the attention Huor gave me earlier, and he doesn't want to admit it to himself that he is in love with his so-called enemy."agliaglin felt guilty for holding Huor's hand after his internal revelation and he wanted to apologize. He couldn't although because the other elf still claimed he felt nothing for Huor. He had to do something about that soon, something that would get those two stubborn elves together. But what?
"Calaglin, what are you doing here? Go away!" Semar yelled at the healer, cursing himself for letting his emotions go astray so easily.
"Now Semar, listen. Huor sent me to find you because he saw you at the door a couple of minutes ago. He wants to talk to you."
"About what?" Semar asked his heart racing. He got up from the floor with unsteady legs.
"I don't know 'about what', actually. You have to find that out for yourself. If you need time to pull yourself together, I will go and inform him, but I think that he really needs to talk to you today."
"Tell him that I will be there in ten minutes. I just need to splash some water on my face and change my shirt." Semar said. His face paled and he excused himself to go to another room.
Calaglin smiled at the retreating figure as he formed a quick plan in his head, and left singing in the afternoon sunshine.
"What do you mean you saw Valandil with blood on his hands?! He didn't do it. Why would he?" Elladan yelled at his younger brother, wanting to strangle him for making those accusations. He loved Valandil with all his heart, and he couldn't stand the fact that somebody was pointing their finger at him. Not even if it was his own brother.
"You are blind fool, Elladan. But I am not. He knocked me over last night running with fear in his eyes, and just an hour later I found out that Huor had been stabbed. Valandil had blood on his hands, I think that makes him the number one suspect. I already told father about it and he is going to meet with him for questioning and investigation."
"You lying..." Elladan stopped himself as he heard a woman's voice calling his and Elrohir's name.
"Elrohir, Elladan! I need your help." Alvien, the guard, called for the twins as she stopped running trying to regain her breath.
"What is it, Alvien?" Elrohir asked as he took a few steps away from his brother.
"It's Valandil. He is missing from his chambers and I think he might be on the run. The stable boy saw him near his horse half an hour ago and now both of them are missing. I am arranging a tracking party, and I need your help..."
