Final
(10 months later)
All through Imladris, also known to man as Rivendell, there was silence. Many elves could be found, but not one of them were going about the daily routines. Groups of elves could be found standing outside of the healing wing doors, or waiting in the courtyard, waiting some sort of sign from the ruling members of the Last Homely House.
All the elves seemed to be nervous, but none were more nerves than the two elves waiting right outside of the healing wing doors.
"I can't believe he sent me out here! Like..like...some elfling!" Glorfindel shouted horsely to the nervous advisor pacing beside of him in the narrow gap left by the other elves.
"Well you were telling him how to do it! He is a healer, he should know what he's doing!" Erestor snapped back at his bonded mate for nearly a year now.
Glorfindel stopped in his tracks, glaring at his dark lover, as if he had grown the head of a drawf. "Yes, but the last time he did this, was nearly four thousand years ago!" Glorfindel growled out in annoyance.
Erestor walked up to his mate, standing nose to nose with the mighty Balrog-Slayer, "And, when was the last time you did this?" Erestor asked, with his hands on his hips.
Glorfindel blushed, taken back by his mate's words, "Well there was my horse...." Glorfindel said with all the dignity he could muster.
Erestor's face turned red, then it turned scarlet, when his lips started turning blue, Glorfindel knew he was in for it. Just when Erestor opened his mouth, to flay the flesh from Glorfindel's mouth, he was saved from the wrath of his mate, by the high-pitch cry within the room on the other side of the door.
Glorfindel and Erestor turned towards the door, as did every elf's face in the hallway, and Glorfindel was just about to ask his mate, if the noise they heard was what he thought it was, when suddenly a second cry came from the room.
Glorfindel and Erestor could no longer take it, and both of them burst through the door, and was stopped in their tracks by what they both saw.
There beside the healing table was Elrond, looking as if he had taken on an entire league of ocrs. His normally perfect hair, wild and disarrayed from his early morning rude awakening to attend this emergency.
Elrond's eyes kept glancing from one side of the room to the other, as if he was expecting someone or something to jump out and attack him at any moment.
Erestor hedged forward, clearly worried about his Lord, that this last healing session had been to much for the recently over worked Lord of the Valley.
"My Lord......Elrond?" Erestor asked, as he laid a hand on his friend's shoulder, surprised when Elrond nearly jumped three feet in the air.
"WHAT! Where's that damn dog?" Elrond asked, looking around wildly.
Erestor's eyebrows met his hairline in confusion, "What dog, My Lord?" Erestor asked, as he glanced worriedly at Glorfindel.
"The blue dog! That one! It was just in here!" Elrond snarled out, clearly insane.
Glorfindel stepped forward, ready to help his mate if the need arose. "Elrond I think you are over worked, this has been going on for over two days now, I think the strain has gotten to you." Glorfindel said, as he grabbed at Elrond's now flailing arms.
"He's overworked? All he had to do was catch!" A very tired, but happy voice said from the last occupant of the room.
Turning towards the healing table, all but forgotten in their concern for their Lord, was the Lady Donna, holding two identical bundles in her arms.
Erestor and Glorfindel, made their way over to the table in awe, their eyes drawn to the twin pair of matching grey eyes gazing up at them.
"They are beautiful, My Lady" Erestor said in reverence, as he looked upon the first Elven babes to be born in many centuries.
There in the Lady Donna's arms, laid the new-born twins produced from the marriage between their Lord, and his new wife. They were both an exact copy of their Elven father, raven hair and grey eyes sparkling with new life.
"What are their names, My Lady?" Glorfindel asked, as he moved closer to look upon the new born's.
The Lady Donna smiled gently at her children, "Before their father went off the deep end, he named them Elladan, and Elrohir." The Lady Donna said, with a tear slipping down her cheek.
Erestor and Glorfindel wore matching smiles of pleasure, as they gazed at what they have since found out were the first of many babies now soon due, since that one magical day nearly ten months before.
It had since come to light, that every human female that had taken an elf as a mate, were now expecting a child. The fact that the Lady Donna herself was the first to become pregnant, was a miracle in it's self.
"I still do not see how this was possible, My Lady?" Erestor asked softly, as he gently caressed the now sleeping Elladan's head.
The Lady Donna smiled knowingly, as she glanced at the Elven ring her husband wore on his hand, "Miracles happen every day, my dear Erestor. Now if you could please take my over -stressed husband to his rooms, I think he's in desperate need of rest. Because he just grabbed a sword, and went looking for the blue dog in the hallway." The Lady Donna said, with a slight laugh as the advisor and Captain of Imladris ran after their manic Lord.
Screams could be heard coming from the hallways, as Elves ran for their lives, and a certain advisor and Captain chased after their deranged Lord.
In the distance, Glorfindel could be heard screaming to his Lord, "ELROND PUT LINDIR DOWN, HE"S NOT A SHIELD!".
The End!!
