Moving On

Legolas paced restlessly in the quarters he had been given. His mind raced with options to his prediciment. Should he tell Celeborn the truth? Should he tell Celeborn what he knew about Heidi? Or should he wait untill she told him herself? Such secrets would hinder her recovery and slowly poison her mind. Denise could now move on and heal now that he knew. Sighing he knew what had to be done. Heidi may hate him later but Celeborn had the right to know. He was the only one that could help her now. Legolas began his search in the healing rooms and found no one. He searched the gardedns, armory, kitchens, studies, and his room. Frustrated he decided to see if he was visiting Lord Elrond in his room. Tapping lightly on the door he waited rather impatiently for someone to awnser. The door opened and Elrond stood there looking at him expectantly.

"Is Celeborn here?" Legolas asked hesitantly.

"Yes. Please come in." Elrond held the door open and gestured the prince inside.

Legolas stepped inside and saw Celeborn sitting on a low couch crying. Legolas went over and embraced his dear friend. Elrond sat in the chair across from them and wondered what Legolas wanted. Was he going to tell Celeborn what they already knew? He wasn't sure if the elf lord was up to hearing that tonight. Legolas sighed and looked at Elrond not knowing what to do. Elrond saw the utter desperation and confusion of the prince's face. He realized this was new territory for the prince as he had never lost anyone close to him. Celebrian and Heidi haunted the Lord of Lorien, to him it seemed that the past was repeating it's self.

"Tell him. He needs to know." Elrond advised Legolas.

Celeborn looked up and sighed. "Tell me what?"

Legolas sighed and lauched into a re telling about what he had heard earlier. When he was done Celeborn was speechless with horror. How could she not tell him? He stood up suddenly startling Elrond and Legolas as he paced angrily. The combination of no sleep, little food, to many doubts, and guilt made him snap.

"Why tell me? What can I do? Nothing! I can do nothing! I can't just stroll in there and announce that I know!" he shouted at Legolas. "I could do nothing for her when she was attacked! I couldn't protect them, I was the leader and yet I could not even see the Orc ambush coming! What kind of leader am I? Why must the ones I love suffer because of my incompetince??? I should have insisted the Celebrian have more guards but no she felt the few she had enough! I failed her, I failed my sons, my grandsons, Arwen, Heidi, Denise, and I faile wif wife!" Celeborn ranted as repressed emotions came rolling back to life.

Angrily he paced oblivious to the shocked looks on Legolas's and Elronds face's. They had no idea he blamed himself for his daughters attack! Celeborn tore off his ceremonial robes and left Elronds room looking for Haldir. he found his son in the courtyard talking with Rumil. When they saw their father dressed only in a simple tunic and leggings they stared. Celeborn always wore a robe of some sort because of his position.

"Haldir." Celeborn snapped. "Spar with me here, now."

Haldir stared at his father before looking at Rumil, who nodded and left. Haldir stood and picked up his sword.

"Are you sure Ada? It's almost midnight." Haldir handed a sword to his dad.

"We are elves Haldir was can see easily in the dark." Celeborn snapped and readied for his son's attack.

The clash of metal on metal echoed throughout the empty tilt yard. Celeborn's anger fueled him and his attacks. They danced the macrabe dance of war and death. A centuries old dance as old as love making. Soon both elves were panting with exertion but neither yielded both needing this outlet. Suddenly Haldir's sword went flying from his grasp and hit the ground far away. Celeborn smirked before he fell to his knees crying his heart out. Now that he had his release from anger shame set in. He was ashamed at how he'd yelled at his son in law and friend. He felt Haldir embrace him tightly knowing he needed someone close. Celeborn rarely lost control, and he never cried. The one time Haldir had seen his father cry was when Galadriel left for Aman. They knelt in th dusty tilt yard one crying the other soothing as best he could.
