the chief advisor of Rivendell

Chapter 14 - The Chief advisor of Rivendell.

I entered the room that had been assigned to me. It was a lice little room that was decorated in light colours. "This is wonderful. Please send my thanks to Lord Elrond," I said as I walked through the room and opened the little window to lean out and look at the magnificent view. I heard the advisor cough behind me, and was suddenly reminded that I was being more than rude. I turned around. "Ehm, Erestor... I mean chief advisor Erestor."

"I am glad you like it," he said while closing the door behind him. "Why are you so nervous?"

"I, I... I think it's strange to call you chief advisor," I blushed as I answered him.

"Oh, so that's why," he said with a little victorious smile.

I nodded and sat down on the chest that was under the window, looking up at Erestor. "There is s-something you n-need to know," I managed to say.

"Yes?" Erestor asked me softly. He squatted down, tilting his head and looking atwithwith the same wondering expression of one who found some strange new animal.

I took a deep breath. "Remember that day at the border talan?"

"Yes" he said without looking away.

He and I met when I had left my patrol party to go and find firewood. Unknowingly I had run across an Imladris party on their way to Mirkwood. It had been mainly soldiers, but they had escorted the chief advisor of Rivendell... Erestor.

I had been enthralled with his dark aura and mysterious beauty, and when he had later sent a messenger to my chambers in Mirkwood, telling me to meet him at the border talan, I had urged my horse so much so that it had been exhausted when I had arrived.

He showed me new ways of lovemaking, things I had never thought possible. It still made me blush to think of it. Erestor disturbed my musings when he let out a melodic little laughter, "You remember too I se."

"I do," I whispered, but I quickly steadied my voice. "I guess I should inform you that *this*," I gently rubbed my huge belly, "could be yours as we" I " I met his gaze and forced a smile.

"Oh," he said. He blinked twice and this reaction somewhat scared me. This was the fist time I had ever seen him loose his superior expression.

"I'm sorry," I mumbled.

Erestor looked like he was in deep thought until he finally answered me. "If I should indeed sire this child, then so be it."

"But..." I started.

"Yes, I find it strange that a male elf should get pregnant, and I wouave ave called y lia liar if I did not see the proof with my own eyes." He gestured to my growing belly. "But when you said it *could* be mine, what do you mean?"

"It means there is more then one possible father." I hung my head. This was most embarrassing, and I felt myself at the verge of tears again. "I honestly didn't know this could happen." I spoke in a weak defence and turned my head away from Erestor's wondering gaze.

"Neither did I," he admitted. I heard him rise to his feet as the soft leather he wore made a swishing sound, and I nearly jumped from my seat when I felt his smooth cold hand on my shoulder. "Is there anything you need right now?"

"No t-thank you," I whispered, but quickly added "chief advisor Erestor."

"Very well then. I will leave you to Lord Elrond. He will be here shortly to examine you." Erestor removed his hand again.

I nodded and kept my gaze locked on the window.

"I bid you a goodnight then. " Erestor said and opened the door. I think this seemed more like an escape than an urgent matter when Erestor finally swept out of the room, leaving only the soft scent of leather and elf behind.

Elrond examined me like the healer he was. His moves and words had been very controlled and professional. He had now left me to my rest. I would find none though. I stood up from the bed with some trouble, and went to the window to lean out and inhale the chilly night air.

I heard the door open and close quickly, and soft steps moved through the room. Then, to my surprise, I felt soft lips on my neck. "Hello," Elrohir whispered.

"The night here is amazingly beautiful, almost as pretty as the ones in Lorien," I whispered back.

"I admit they are nice," he said and rested his head on my shoulder.

"I see Elladan is speaking to you again," I smiled at the thought.

"He is my twin brother, he never stays mad atfor for long," Elrohir snickered.

"I'm glad to hear that," I said with honesty, and I turned around to face him.

"Legolas?" he whispered and let go of me so I could turn in his arms, "Don't let him intimidate you."

I shook my head. "I wont." But inside I remembered Elladan's words to me, that Elrohir would tire of me one day, and I was not sure my heart would ever bear to have this freckled sng fng face hold the same loathing as his twin's when he looked at me.

And Elrond, perhaps Elladan had been right there too, he seemed more like he had examined me out of duty than interest or compassion. Perhaps Elladan had not been the liar all along, perhaps I had been. I had lied to myself, letting Elrohir's sweet kisses lull me into a state of belief and bliss.

"What is wrong?" I heard Elrohir say while he brushed some stray hair from my cheek tenderly.

"Nothing," I said and smiled at him again.

"Liar." He smiled back.

"I was just thinking of your father." I lied "He seems so distant."

"He always is," Elrohir said with a flash of sadness on his face. "Don't let his appearance fool you my love. He really is a wonderful father and elf."

"Oh I didn't mean to imply otherwise," I said quickly, and furrowed my brows in worry.

"I know." Elrohir said softly and smiled sweetly.

I chided myself at my lie. It had only served the purpose of upsetting Elrohir. Though he seemed relaxed and smiling, I could read his eyes like an open book. "If you don't mind Elrohir, I feel a bit tired now. " I attempted to speak of something else in order to end this awkward moment.

"Oh forgive me if I am keeping you up," he gasped. He then gently steered me towards the bed. "You should rest."

I sat down on the bed and took a deep breath. "Please stay here Elrohir." I turned and looked at the half-elf at the other side of the bed. "Please."

Elrohir sat down on the bed. "I should get back to Elladan."

"Oh," I sighed as I tried to lie down in the bed. "Then you better hurry."

"Don't do this again," Elrohir said and looked down at his hands. "He is my *twin*, it might be difficult for you to understand, or to comprehend that he is as close to me as though he were another part of my own being. If he hurts then I hurt, if I say nay so then does he." He shook his head. "It has always been like this... until nowHe tHe trailed off before slowly standing up to leave.
