Chapter eleven Time is running out
Elrond smiled and nodded. “I will never fulndernderstand your fast healing, ioni-nin. You two are fully well. And there I was thinking it would be at least a week.” He grinned. “Where’s Ereineldo? I haven’t seen him since he left.”
He jumped when Glorfindel growled. “Elrond! You insane Peredhel! We’ve just gotten Elladan not to worry and now you ruin our results.”
Elrohir immediately pulled his twin in a hug. “Come, why don’t we go and see how he is while ata examines Glorfindel? And we should also go to the shops; buy our lovers some nice presents.” He stuck out his tongue he bhe blushing blond and pulled his twin along.
Elrond smiled at the picture. “Well, meldir, you hear it. I am to examine you.”
Glorfindel grinned. “I am not fully healed yet, Elrond. And I was thinking… Perhaps I should buy Ereineldo a present? To thank him. Without those letters of his Elrohir and I would not be together.”
Elrond smiled but shook his head. “Nay, I am positive you two would have found each other in another way.”

some days later…
Márcaron sighed and ran towards app approaching Peredhil. “Lords Elladan and Elrohir, bless the Valar. You safe me quite a walk and time, which I hardly have to spare today. This note is for you.” He grinned. “Note? I’d say it’s more a book. From Ereineldo. Could be his whole history, by the weight of it. Well, I’m off. And oh, Chief Domestics said he took some days off for a little vacation. Get his head sorted out.”
Elrohir shook his head at the elf’s antics but smiled at his brother. “See, he’s all t. Rt. Read it, you shall see.” Elladan nodded and ran to his room, cradling the paper to his chest. Elrohir shook his head, but he understood his twin. This letter was the first sign of Ereineldo Elladan’s had in five days, since they’ve parted so roughly.

“You smell divine, my love.”
Erestor turned and smiled warmly at the ruler of Imladris. He cocked his head. “You seem extremely weary. The twins gave you trouble again?”
Elrond shrugged. “No more than usual. No, it is my dream. I can’t get it out of my head; I know it was important, somehow, and yet I can’t remember any of it.” He groaned and sat down, slumped on the large couch.
Erestor sighed and started massaging him. “You need to relax some more. It will probably come to you when you think of something else. You know it will do no good if you try to force it.”
Elrond moaned and nodded, leaning back against his lover. “I’m just worried it might involve my family, that there’s something awful happening.”
Erestor nodded in understanding and leaned in to kiss his lover. “It looks like I shall have to take your mind of things a different way.”
Elrond’s eyes blinked at those words. Erestor hardly took control when making love, preferring to receive instead. “Would you really, my love?”
Erestor nodded. “You need it. Allow me.”
He slowly started undressing his beloved, already looking forward to the squirming Elrond would display. Suddenly there was a loud knock at the door and he groaned. “Unless the house is on fire, come back later!”
“Erestor, ata, please, I need you. Please?”
Both elder were decent instantly and Elrond hurried to open the door. “Elladan, ion-nin. What is it ? Did your fever come back?” He already felt for a temperature, but felt none.
Elladan smiled and leaned against his father. His look of happiness, having them close, soon changed to one of guilt, realising he intervened their lovemaking. “Aiya, apsená nin. Ettuluvan adellú.”
Erestor shook his head. “Don’t you dare leave now, Elladan. Your father will only follow you to your room. And so would I. Why don’t you tell us what it is? Ereineldo?”
Elladan nodded and showed the letter.
Elrond widened his eyes, a look of recognition and horror lay in them.
Err smr smiled and guided the younger Peredhel to the couch. “Come, sit down. It looks like a large letter.”
Elladan nodded. “It is. He tells me about his life, his childhood.” He smiled widely. “And about mine. Now that I read about it I remember bits and pieces. I am extremely glad he told me. But I don’t know what to make of it.”
Seeing Erestor’s puzzled glance he shrugged. “He doesn’t say anything about us, his love or mine. Glorfindel told me to keep my distancbit,bit, so I wouldn’t scare him away and allow him to dictate the pace. That I should trust him to tell me when he’s ready. But I don’t know what he’s trying to tell me here.”
Erestor smiled warmly, fully understanding what went through Elladan at the moment. “May I read it? Or is it too personal?” Elladan shook his head and handed it over. Erestor folded it open and started reading out loud.
Hwarin Elladan,

He didn’t continue any further; Elrond ripped it out of his hands and turned ghostly pale. He flung the paper on the ground and gasped. “No! No!” Without voicing any clarifications he stormed out the room and flew through the corridor.
Elladan and Erestor didn’t need much time nor encouragement to follow at top speed. It was with horror that Elladan realised his father was going towards Ereineldo’s chamber. “He isn’t there, father. He took time off. Twenty days.” But Elrond didn’t slow down, instead he ran even faster.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Having arrived at the right door he banged on it. “Ereineldo, open up! That’s an order!” Several doors down the corridor opened and the rooms inhabitants curiously emerged from them.
After somre rre ruffling the door on the right opened and a sleepy head peeked through it. “Saes, my lord, not so loud. I need my slumber. And he isn’t there. It has been silent for some days now.” After a large yawn the elf closed the door.
Elrond growled. He realised he couldn’t open the door, not even with force. “I need Glorfindel.” He turned to Elladan but Erestor’s eyes widened in understanding. /Olorya./ He flew away to fethe the seneschal.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
rfinrfindel jumped when his door was flung open. “Watch it! Dangerous weapons lay about and…” The rest of his protest and scolding died in his throat when he saw Erestor’s appearance.
He hurried to him. “Erestor, meldir. What is the matter? Did you and Elrond fight?”
Erestor shook his head and grabbed the blond’s wrist. “He wants you to come. Break down a door.”
Glorfindel frowned. “Elrond wants me to break down a door?” His voice sounded distrusting. Indeed it was the first time Elrond had ever uttered that request. Seeing Erestor nod frantically made Glorfindel cock his head in doubt.
“Glorfindel, please. He’s serious. Something might be wrong with Ereineldo.”
The blue orbs widened. “All right. But I’m not doing any crashing or I am back in the healing house alronlrond released me only today. Mind you, it wouldn’t have happened if Elrohir hadn’t been so persistent.” He smiled at the memory. “I have to take it slow and the younger tws mys my personal nurse until I am healed.”
Erestor nodded, but his eyes beseeched Glorfindel to do something and the blond shook his head. He closed the distance and leaned on Erestor. “Don’t give him a reason to send me back, meldir.”
Together they left and Glorfindel stopped when he saw three soldiers walk past. “You three, follow us. Apparently there’s a door to be broken down.” The soldiers nodded and swiftly fell in step behind the other two.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ His His father’s silence wasn’t helping him to calm down. /But they said he’s on vacation. He’s all right. Please, Elbereth, let him be all right./
Elrond continued pacing the corridor, occasionally stopping before the door, alternating between pounding on it and placing his ear on it to try and catch some sounds from the inside, any sounds. With every passing moment his worry increased.
He felt awful for upsetting Elladan so, but he couldn’t speak. The only words that would leave his mouth now weren’t supporting or consoling and would only hurt the twin and that he did not want. He fervently prayed he was wrong, that the elf was on vacation, that he was asleep, anything…
He jumped and twirled around when he heard a sound behind him and sighed annoyed and frustrated when he saw Elrohir instead of Erestor and Glorfindel.
Elrohir frowned and cocked his head. He kneeled next to his twin. “What’s wrong?”
Elladan looked at him. “Nothing. Nothing.” But his voice almost cracked and his eyes were desperate.
Elrohir gasped and pulled him closer. “Glorfindel will have to wait.”
Together the three elves displayed a desperate sight, on the brink of hilarious. It was how Erestor and Glorfindel walked in on them.
The blond immediately settled his eyes on his lover, knowing Elrohir was the only sound one here. He signalled the soldiers forward and pointed to the door.
Elrond looked at them gratefully and angrily at the same time. He couldn’t be more pleased they were here, but they, to him, had taken too long to get there.
Without words or ceremony the three soldiers swiftly and easily had the door out of its hold and pulled it backwards to g acc access.
Immediately Elrond ran inside, not caring his clothes got ripped by the sharp pieces sticking out. He gasped at what he saw and turned. “Erestor, get my herbs; everything in a purple pouch or glass. Hurry. And some water.” /If it isn’t too late. I’m afraid to search for life signs. What if I don’t find any?/
Erestor flew away and Elladan paled further, staring at the door in fear. He wanted nothing more than to run inside, but he was too afraid to do so, afraid to see his beloved dead.
Elrohir took a deep breath and did what his twin could not. He gasped when he saw his father tending a lifeless Ereineldo. He sank to the floor, shaking his head. “No.” The tears left his eyes at the image.
Elrond uttered one curse after the other. /Damn, my blasted memory./ He exhaled relieved when he found a pulse, albeit the weakest he’d ever felt. “Bless the Valar, there’s still hope.”
This brought him back to live. He stood up and lifted the body. “Elrohir, get as much blankets as you can.” He was already walking outside and Elrohir, hearing his father’s voice, sprung to life and ran to do his bidding.
Elrond now addressed the soldiers, who looked on in disbelief. “You three, I want all the firewood you can find. Bring it to Elladan’s room. And hurry.” The soldiers nodded and ran away.
Elrond smiled at Elladan, who stared at his charge in fear and disbelief, on the edge of a breakout. “Come, to your room and pray Mandos is on our side.”
He looked at Glorfindel. “Are you coming?”
Glorfindel shook his head. “Nay, someone has to redirect Erestor and Elrohir. Safe him.”
Elrond nodded. /Lorien, amanëat, hantëatnyë i-olos. Ú tano vánauvammë harya latya o engië ron. Saes á anengat emmë./
