A/N I am sorry it took so long to update. I was hit with a major case of writer's block and even now I am struggling with it. I am making one more chapter after this and then it shall end. I would rather end it then struggle even more and end up regretting it.

Chapter 11.

Glorfindel was trying to concentrate on the work before him. He hated paperwork to begin with anyway, yet now it seemed even worse. He knew where he wanted to be but even that had to wait. He was behind in his reports as it was and Elrond had already been on his case about it. He was left with no other choice. If he had a choice, he would have been back in bed with Brennil. Of course, he knew, that if he was neither one of them would be sleeping. It just seemed that the more time he spent with her the more he could not seem to keep his hands off her. Not that she was complaining about that either.

"it is about time you worked on those" Erestor teased as he made his way to his own desk." perhaps now I will have the chance to spend some time with my daughter."

"I have never stopped you from doing that." Glorfindel said without looking up

"No?" Erestor arched an eyebrow" you both seem to keep each other rather busy" he added " in any place you happen to be at the time.

Glorfindel grinned at that and looked over at Erestor, giving the other elf an innocent look.

"No one said you had to just walk in." Glorfindel told him

" It is my library" Erestor pointed out." And I do not approve of seeing the two of you up on the table and both naked." he growled at the golden elf." What if it had been an elfling who walked in?" he questioned

"Erestor." Glorfindel chuckled." At that hour of the night, all elflings are asleep and if they are not then they do not go into the library."

Erestor made some comment that had been muttered to quietly for Glorfindel to hear. That only made him laugh even more. He shook his head and went back to finishing his work. He wanted to get done as soon as possible so he could enjoy the rest of the day with Brennil.


It was a few hours later when Glorfindel made his way into his room. He did not see Brennil there at first but he cold hear her. It sounded as if she were on the balcony of his room and he made his way to her, stopping dead in his tracks as he watched her and Orophin. The other elf had his arms around her and from where he stood the kiss looked anything but friendly. He narrowed his eyes then turned and left, not wanting to face either of them.

"what was that?" Brennil hissed as she pushed Orophin away from her." I agreed to talk to you not to stand here and have you kiss me."

"you did not seem to mind." Orophin grinned." and you know exactly what else I can do and how good it will be." he added

"Get over yourself" Brennil told him." you try that again and I will let both Elladan and Elrohir deal with you." she hissed" Or Glorfindel."

"And I will just tell them it was you who kissed me." Orophin replied.

Brennil stared at him in silence for a brief second then burst out laughing. She always knew that Orophin was a cocky elf but this was just too much

"you honestly think they would believe that?" She said, still laughing.

"I am sure I could convince them." He grinned, making Brennil suddenly really nervous.

Decided she needed to be away from hi, Brennil merely waked away without another word to Orophin. She shivered lightly at the sound of his laugh as she headed back inside. She wanted to see Glorfindel more then ever now. By now he should have been finished his work and would be waiting for her in his room.
"our room" she corrected herself as he made her way there.

She gave a disappointed sigh when she found the room empty. Looking around slowly she spotted a note addressed to her. She suddenly had a bad feeling as she approached the bed slowly to read the note.

"He left?" She said, reading the note again. refusing to believe he would just leave without telling her first. It was not like him to just leave a note for her. She had known that Elladan and Elrohir were going out on patrol yet as far as she knew Glorfindel had decided not to join them this time. So why had he changed his mind?

"You have been asking me for a week now" Erestor told Brennil. " I do not know any more than you do why he suddenly went on patrol" He added, giving his daughter a sympathetic smile. She had been miserable since the night Glorfindel had left. Though both him and Elrond had tried to keep her distracted, nothing seemed to work.

"It makes no sense" Brennil pouted once more, something she had taken habit of doing for the last week. " why did he not tell me himself?"

Erestor let out a deep breath as he watched her. He had been in many meetings, debates and full blown arguments. yet he had no idea what to say to his daughter now that would make her feel better.

" Only he can answer that when he returns." Erestor finally replied. The look she gave him almost made him laugh. He knew it was the same look he had given many elves when he did not like an answer they had given him.

Another week had passed and Brennil mood had not improved, in fact it had become worse. She had managed to avoid Orophin with help from her father. She had admitted to him what had happened that night Glorfindel left and how she wanted nothing to do with the Lorien elf at all.

Sleep was not easy to find every night. She would lay awake wondering about Glorfindel. If he was safe, when he would be returning and why he had even left as he did in the first place. She had become accustomed to falling asleep in his arms that she became restless each night, unable to rest with out him being close.

"you need to come now!" Elrohir had rushed into her room, making her jump.
"What is wrong?" She asked, getting out of bed and pulling on one of her night robes. It was not unusual for the twins to wake her after returning from a long patrol but the concern in Elrohir's eyes told her something had happened

"They have been injured" Elrohir said, taking her hand and literally pulling her out of the room and towards the healing chamber.

She had just been about to ask who when she saw them, saw him. Elladan lay on one bed and managed a small smile in her direction. It was the other elf in the bed next to him that caught her attention. Glorfindel.

His tunic was covered in blood and from where she stood, she could not tell if he was even breathing. She wanted to go to him but seemed to be frozen where she was. Only when Elrohir gently pushed her forward did she finally move. She was holding her breath as she touched Glorfindel's arm gently. Her vision already blurred from her tears.

"He sleeps." Elrond's voice whispered in her ear, though she did not turn to look at him." He will be fine after some rest"

"What happened?" She managed to ask quietly, slipping her hand in his as she took a seat that Elrohir had brought closer for her.

"we came across a small group of orcs" Elladan replied quietly. " He had been distracted the entire time he was on patrol and did not see that one had come up beside him."

"Distracted by what?" Brennil wondered, not realizing she had spoken the question openly.

"You" Elrohir said. He had been sitting on the edge of the bed that Elladan was in." and what he saw"

This had caught her attention and she turned to the twins slowly. Her bad feeling had returned again and she arched an eyebrow at them

"and what is it he saw?" She whispered softly, knowing they had heard her anyway.

"You kissing Orophin" Elrohir replied before Elladan had a chance to.

Brennil could feel herself shaking now as she told the twins what had happened. It finally made sense why Glorfindel had left She only wished that he had talked to her first, she could have explained all of this.

"we knew you would not have done as he thought" Elrohir stated

"does he have such little faith in me?" she asked, wiping her eyes only to have more tears fall. " I do not want Orophin and I did not want him to kiss me"

"That is a lie" Orophin said as he stood by the doorway. " you were the one who kissed me first."

No one in the room had expected Brennil to jump at Orophin they way she had and it was Elrohir that had finally pulled her back just as Elrond and Erestor had run into the room.

"She is not here" Glorfindel's voice sounded strained once he was finally awake.

"She is confined to her room." Elladan replied, getting off his bed and moving to stand next to Glorfindel's

"why?" Glorfindel asked, sitting up slowly and ignoring the pain he felt in his side where his stitches were.

Elladan told Glorfindel everything that had happen, finishing with how Brennil had attacked Orophin

"where are you going?" He asked Glorfindel when the golden elf slowly got to his feet. " you are in no condition to go anywhere."

"Just try and stop me" Glorfindel said, holding his side as he walked out. He did not care that he was wearing a long shirt from the healing rooms, or that it had left most of his backside exposed. He needed to see Brennil.

"go away" Brennil snapped when she heard the knock at her door. She was in no mood to talk with anyone.

"Open the door, Brennil" Glorfindel's voice sounded from the other side of her door.

Brennil could not help but laugh once she had opened the door. She had mot planned on it but seeing him there is the long shirt was more amusing then anything she'd seen in a while.
"Elladan told me what happened" He said, once inside the room and Brennil had once again closed and locked the door

"you believe him yet you cold not come and speak with me about it?" she said, the hurt was seen clearly in her eyes. " you should have trusted in me"

"I am sorry" He said, reaching for her and was relieved when she had willing moved into his arms." I do trust in you and I let my anger get the best of me"

Brennil sighed as she rested her head against his chest. She felt him tense slightly and as she looked up at him she could clearly see the pain in his eyes.

"sit down" She told him, her look dared him to argue but was glad when he did as she told him. "you should not have left the way you did. I had no idea why or what had changed your mind."

" I made a mistake" He admitted." I thought maybe if I left then you would find happiness with Orophin"

Had he not still been injured, Brennil would have hit him. She could tell he knew this as well when he flashed her an innocent smile.

" after all we had been though" she started" the way we had to fight to be together you honestly thought I would be happy with anyone other than you?"

"As I said, I was not thinking straight." he said, playing with her hair as she sat with him." I realized my mistake not long after we had left but then it was too late to return. The patrol had separated into two groups and I could not leave Elladan and Elrohir on their own."


Brennil had not failed to notice the way he winced as he tried to shift himself. she kissed his cheek softly as she stood up and took his hand.

" come lay down" she replied." you need your rest still and I refuse to sleep one more night with out you"

Glorfindel smiled at her as he got up slowly and led her over towards the bed. He watched as she laid down on his good side and rested her head on his shoulder.

When Erestor came by to check on them not long after, they were both already asleep. He smiled as he slowly backed out of the room and closed the door. He knew things would be back to normal between them now and for that he was glad.

"Breakfast in bed" Glorfindel grinned as he placed the tray of food between them

"you should not have gotten up" she told him. " you need to heal"

Glorfindel chuckled lightly before he leaned closer and kissed her passionately

" I merely walked to the door and ordered the food to be brought to us" he assured her. He still did not have the energy to be moving too much.

Brennil giggled softly as she placed her hand against his face gently and kissed him again. she ended the kiss when he had moved to deepen it

"not until you are healed" she scolded him lightly " I will not have you injuring yourself further"

"Brennil.." Glorfindel started to speak but she merely shook her head

" No, Glorfindel I am serious about this." She told him" As much as I would like to, we are going to wait."

"Brennil" he started again, smiling at her this time.

" I said no, Glorfindel, and I mean ..." she was saying before Glorfindel interrupted her.

"Bind with me"
