Chapter 12.

~ ~

It had been a long day for Glorfindel. He had finally returned to the training fields and threw himself into training the younger wardens, refusing to go easy on them this time. They needed the training as much as he needed the distraction. His night with Erestor was still on his mind and he found himself thinking about the councilor even more.
“Glorfindel.” One of the young elves broke into his thoughts.
“It is almost dinner time” Glorfindel noticed.” You are all free to go”
As the young wardens left he noted how some of them limped slowly and he briefly wondered if he had been too hard on them.

He had almost skipped the evening meal again but remembered his promise to Erestor and bathed and changed quickly, barely making it as the food was being served. He did not say much to anyone there, though he did catch Erestor watching him every time he looked over. He noticed both Elladan and Elrohir’s seats were both empty.
“They mostly eat their meals in their room now” Celebrian replied when she saw where Glorfindel had been looking. “It is easier for Elladan”
Glorfindel nodded in reply, he understood why Elladan would eat in his room. Too many others would ask how he was doing and it is not something he was in any shape to reply to, Elrohir would have stayed to keep his twin company.
“Would you prefer me to postpone reading the last two entries?” Glorfindel asked Elrond.
The Lord of Imladris gave his long time friend a grateful look but merely shook his head.
“I have considered asking this of you” Elrond replied. “I know it would mean keeping them here longer. It would be unfair to make Elladan wait longer then he has agreed to.” He added
“He longs to go to her” Celebrian added.” Even now it is hard for him to wait. I do not wish to see either of my sons leave but to have them fade would be even worse” She gave Elrond a small smile as he took her hand. “Finish the journal, Glorfindel” she said.
Glorfindel nodded his reply then glanced over at Erestor was once again watching him. To make the councilor happy, Glorfindel took a bite of food and saw the grin Erestor gave him.

Later that evening, Glorfindel was the last one to arrive. Even the twins were there waiting. He did not fail to notice how tired Elladan looked.
“I must leave soon” Elladan told Glorfindel quietly
“I know” He replied as he took his seat. He reached for his drink and almost choked on it.
“Juice?” He looked over at Erestor when he heard Elrond laughing quietly
“Perhaps the server heard me wrong” The councilor shrugged innocently
“Heard you wrong my…” Glorfindel started to comment
“Glorfindel!” Arwen giggled softly.” Perhaps you should just start reading.”
Giving Erestor a look to let him know he’ll pay later, Glorfindel opened the journal.

I was not surprised when Elrohir had come for Elladan, though it was not easy to let him leave. Somehow I do not think we could get away with locking ourselves in the room today, as nice as that sounds I would not miss out on marrying Elladan for anything. There was some time left before I needed to get dressed then go and join my father for breakfast. It was nice to have some time to myself as I know how busy things would get, though I did already miss having Elladan with me.

I had not expected when I felt the light touch move across my back then around to my stomach. I know I leaned back slightly as I thought it was Elladan. I knew he had just left but it would not have been the first time he had come back by way of the balcony. Elrohir would have not stopped him. When I felt his hands move up over my breast I caught sight of the ring, it was not Elladan’s ring but I know who it belonged to. I do not think Legolas was expecting to be elbowed in the face since I doubt I would have knocked him over as easily. As he fell over he had knocked over some things from my dresser as well. It was at that very moment when Haldir had knocked on my door. He must have heard the noise as well and came in without my reply. Orophin was with him and with just a look from his brother, Orophin has literally pulled Legolas out of the room.

Haldir had made sure that I was alright and made me promise I would not waste a minute thinking about it, that he would personally make sure that my day remained perfect. He swore Legolas would be dealt with and that he would never bother me again. He waited until I finished getting dressed then escorted me to my father. Orophin joined us along the way and Haldir grinned when we both noticed his knuckles were slightly swollen and red. Orophin just smiled innocently

Glorfindel looked over at Elladan and could see the anger in his eyes; it matched how he himself was feeling.
“If that Prince was here right now” Elladan growled
“I would rip him to shreds for you” Elrohir added, his fingers running over the hilt of his sword.
“He was taken care of.” Came a reply from the back of the room
Glorfindel turned to see Haldir standing there. Leaning casually against the wall.
“I had not been advised of your arrival” Elrond replied as he to had looked over at the Marchwarden.
“I arrived less then a few minutes ago.” Haldir replied. “I was told where you could be found.”
Elrond nodded then invited Haldir to sit with the rest of them. He had known Celebrian had sent word to her mother, telling of the twins plans to sail so he had not been surprised to see Haldir arrive.
“How was he dealt with?” Elladan asked, wanting to know.
“Had you not noticed he was not at your wedding?” Haldir asked, arching an eyebrow when Elladan had shook his head. “ Orophin left him tied to a tree after having beat him almost senseless.” Haldir shrugged. “ Rumil went back later and cut off some of his hair.”
Elladan actually grinned at that as he rested back in his seat. He still wished he could get his hands on Legolas himself but was satisfied to know he had been dealt with.
“ How is it you managed to make sure he never said anything?” Arwen asked Haldir.
“ I know too much of Legolas” He answered her. “ Things I know he would not want to get around.”
“ Like what?” Elrohir asked
“ I can not tell you I am still using it against him” He grinned when Elrohir laughed.

Once Haldir was seated, Glorfindel opened the journal again. He took a sip of his drink first and glared at Erestor as he tasted the juice once more. The elf just smiled silently back at him

This day turned out to be more then I had every imagined. I had known there were placing things in the garden but the decorations were more then perfect and more then I had ever dreamed they would be. However it was not the decorations that held my attention for long, not once I saw Elladan. Haldir had been right when he said I would forget everything and everyone else once I saw Elladan, which is exactly what had happened. As promised my father led me to Elladan, after that I saw no one else. I know I replied to others as they spoke to us after the ceremony but for now do not ask me what was said. The feat afterwards was just as perfect. Though I did dance with my father along with Haldir and Elrohir they must have read my mind for they did not make me wait until leading me back to Elladan. It was very late when Elladan saw how tired I was and within a few short minutes we were back in his.. no, our room.

I was more tired then I ever remember being before and though Elladan insisted I get some rest, I was not going to get any rest until he gave in. I did not have to wait long, though he made sure not to push me to much. I just could not imagine going to sleep without being with him. I know we had plenty of times together before but that was before we were married. I wanted him to have me as his wife. I know he laid awake watching me long into the night. I thought perhaps to wake him up early this morning but I decided to let him sleep as I write this. He looks too peaceful to disturb his sleep just yet. Once he does wake, we will enjoy breakfast then take out time riding to the cottage along the countryside. I have one page left in this journal that I will fill then will start a new one as I am starting a new life with Elladan and soon with our child as well. I am sure that I will often read what I have wrote and remember everything, either good or bad. Perhaps one day I will even let Elladan read everything I wrote, though I am sure he’ll enjoy reading how I once though both he and Elrohir were the most annoying elves is all of Arda.

Glorfindel closed the book, sighing softly to himself. Looking over at Elladan he saw that the older twin had his eyes closed. Elrohir leaned over and spoke softly to him. Elladan nodded as he slowly got to his feet.
“If you do not mind, Elladan I will walk with you” Haldir stood up” I have something’s to ask you.”
Elladan looked over and nodded then mostly leaned on his brother as they made there way out of the room, Haldir following.
“ I have a request from Lady Galadriel” Haldir spoke once they were in Elladan’s room.
“ what might that be?” He arched an eyebrow.
“ She wishes you to deliver a message to Anira.” He said handing him the letter. “ It is for her to read only” he pointed out.
“ I will” he nodded in reply, looking down at the letter then placing it on his dresser.
“ I am hoping you will also gibe her one from me” Haldir added.” Along with this.” He said as he held up his chain. It was a silver necklace with the leaf of Lorien attached to it. It had been given to him as he achieved his rank of Marchwarden. “Anira had always admired it and I wish for her to have it now.”
Elladan took the necklace and looked it over slowly. He merely nodded at first as he thought about Anira and his necklace that she now wore.
“ She will be pleased to know you want her to have it” he said quietly.

Haldir watched Elladan as he moved onto his bed and rested his head back.
“ have your brother not made the journey with you?” Elrohir asked
“ They could not be spared at the borders.” Haldir replied. “ there have been more orc attacks then usual and they felt it best to stay behind.” He added
Elrohir arched an eyebrow slightly when Haldir seemed distracted suddenly
“ what are you not telling us?” Elladan was the one to ask
.” It is nothing you need to hear now” Haldir replied. He could see in the other elf’s eyes that he wasn’t going to be let off the hook that easily. He had promised Galadriel he would not say anything unless he had to.
“ Haldir if there is something you know then tell us” Elladan persisted.
“ not long before I left, there had been another orc attack along the borders” he said, hesitating before he went on.” One of the orcs that Orophin face was carrying something with him.” He stopped, not sure if he should continue
“ What was it?” Elrohir asked.
“This.” He said finally as he held up Anira’s bracelet, the one that Elladan had given her many years ago for her birthday.
Sitting up, Elladan grabbed the bracelet. He was shaking as he looked it over.
“ I had not known why Orophin had reacted the way he did. I had never seen him lose control that way before. It was afterwards when he told me that he had seen it.”
Elrohir was watching Elladan closely but his twin had merely closed his eyes, clutching the bracelet tightly.
“ Then Orophin did what we have all wanted to do” Elrohir pointed out quietly

when Haldir knew that Elladan was asleep he stood up.
“ I promised your grandmother I would stay until you both have sailed” he told Elrohir. “ We will speak again before you leave” he added before he turned and left the room.
Elrohir moved to lay down next to his twin on the bed.
“ just a few more days.” He said softly. “ you have to hold on until then.” He added before he to had drifted off to sleep.
