Departing

~ Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I went to Vancouver, Canada for vacation and stayed there for two weeks, visiting relatives. Here's the next chapter!

Chapter 12: Departing

No one mentioned anything the following morning at breakfast, but they were all giving Legolas dirty looks Legolas ignored them and mostly talked with Elrohir. They would do anything to her. They would not dare If If they did, they will have to face the consequence of suffering more pranks under her hands.

Legolas and Elrohir practiced their archery that morning. Elrohir was impressed at how Legolas was improving with the bow. Of course, Legolas was determined to learn about the bow. She loved the sport.

Elladan and Estel joined them in the middle of their practice with their own bows and arrows.

“You don’t mind if we join you,” Elladan said.

“No, of course not,” Legolas said.

“How are you feeling, Legolas?” Estel asked.

“I feel great!” Legolas smirked. “I had a grand time last night! You should have seen the faces on my brothers’ faces when the orange juice splattered all over their backsides.” She laughed.

Estel chuckled. Legolas’s laugh was so melodious. A perfect voice to match a beautiful elf. He did not know that underneath er beauty Legolas can be such a jokester. That was made her even more unique.

They gathered their arrows from the target and returned back into the castle. Legolas and Elrohir went to the library and noticed Estel following them.

“I didn’t know you like to read, Estel,” Elrohir commented.

“Uh, I don’t,” Estel said sheepishly. “But maybe the library here has more interesting books than the library in Rivendell.”

Legolas smiled at him. “By all means, join us,” she said. “Perhaps you can enhace your intelligence with our educational books. Although when I read them, they do nothing for me. They bore me to death.”

Estel laughed. He liked Legollrealready. He had only met her once before, twelve years ago. The previous time she came to visit he was not able to see her, for he was in Lothlorien at the time. He watched as Legolas picked out a book and sat down at the table. Her graceful moves matched her fragile and gentle body, and her inner light seemed to shine bright at Legolas’s enjoyment of peace and quiet.

Grabbing a book, he hurried to sit down next to her.

Legolas looked up at him, smiling. “I did not know you liked dwarven poetry,” she said with amusement.

Estel blinked and looked down at the book he grabbed. Whoops.

“Elladan, we just got here,” Elrohir protested.

“We have been staying here for two weeks now,” Elladan said. “I bet Father is worried about us now.”

“We can just send Father a letter telling him where we are,” Estel suggested.

Elladan shook his head and looked at his two younger brothers in the eyes. “We have already overstayed their hospitality,” he said. “We do not want to burden them more than we have to. I also think that Legolas now needs her family more than ever, and we do not want to interfere with their family affairs.”

His brothers remained silent. Shoulders slumped in defeat, they nodded in agreement.

“I wish you can stay longer,” Legolas said to Elladan, Elrohir, and Estel.

“I would want to as well, but we have to go back home,” Elrohir said, taking Legolas’s hands in his own. “We will be back to visit.”

Legolas smiled up at him. “Farewell,” she said.

Estel stepped up and took one of Legolas’s hands. “It was nice meeting you again,” he said.

“And I you,” she smiled. “I enjoyed your company, and I hope you have a safe trip back home.”

Elladan, Elrohir, and Estel all bowed to Thranduil and his children, who were all lined up at the gate entrance. Straightening up, they mounted their horses and galloped away towards home. Elrohir and Estel turned to look at Legolas once more before turning back forward.

Elrohir had never felt like this before about a girl. He suddenly felt empty inside, empty that he is leaving. He could not deny the emotion he felt in his heart toward the elf maiden. He loved Legolas.

Estel looked back at Legolas until he could not see her lon longer. This was the second time he had met Legolas, and he had never thought she was this pretty before. What he felt was not only a boy’s crush, for his feelings towards her were too strong. He loved Legolas.
