Gift of Forgivness and Sight
Orophin and Haldir didn't see their friends untill way after dinner, Legolas was laying in bed when they came to the nursery. They saw his red, sunburnt face, dirty nails, and dried tear tracks and felt sorry for him. He had been sticking up for their brother but he had been punished while they had fun. Legolas was curled up into a tight ball as he sobbed. He didn't notice that he had company untill Haldir spoke to him.
"Are you in pain Legolas?" Haldir asked as he sat next to the elfling.
Legolas nodded and held out his arm where a vicious cut was visible on his upper arm and his wrist was bent at an odd angle.
"What happened? Did you tell Lord Elrond?" Orophin was shocked.
Legolas shookhis head. "I was weeding the garden when I slipped on a moss covered rock. I went to catch myself and I felt a searing pain.....I came back here."
"How long have you been here?" Haldir asked as Orophin slipped out to get some help.
"An hour or two....I don't know." Legolas cried as a fresh wave of pain assailed him.
Haldir opened his mouth when the door opened and Saelbeth entered looking worried.
"Legolas....." Saelbeth whispered as he scooped up the elfling carefully.
Legolas sobbed and buried his face in Saelbeth's shoulder.
"Elrond is waiting for us in the healing wing. It will be alright little one." Saelbeth smiled at Haldir and Orophin.'
They watched Saelbeth leave carrying the price sighing they lay down on one bed and held each other till sleep came. Hours later the twins stumbled into bed exhausted by all the clean up and chores they had been given. They noticed that Legolas was absent and wondered at that before they lay down and fell asleep.

The next morning Legolas returned his wrist was bound with stiff cloth the restricted his movement. The cut was all but healed thanks to elven healing abilities. He ignore the twins and quietly played chess with Haldir and Orophin as they awaited word of Rumil. The twins sat staring at the floor knowing it would be a while until the others spoke to them. Elladan jumped when Legolas called his name.
"Yes..." he said hesitantly.
"Would you and Elrohir like to play?" came the offer.
The twins nodded and joined the others at the table.
"We just want you to know......" Elladan started.
"How sorry we are." Elrohir finished shyly. " I shouldn't have made fun of Rumil."
Haldir and Orophin nodded but said nothing, Legolas smiled and spoke. "I should not have hit......Now that all is said for now let us play."
"You must apologize to Rumil when he wakes." Orophin pointed out.
"We will." the twins said in unison.
Celebrian and Galadriel watched them from the doorway and they turned away smiling at each other.
"They will be friends for life." Celebrian noted happily.
Galadriel nodded and took her daughters arm. "Now have you and Elrond discussed names for this young one?"
Celebrian blushed and nodded. "Elrond says it will be a girl child and her name will be Arwen.

After mid day Orophin got an idea as chess had lost it's appeal. "Let's go to the Lady's mirror!" he whispered excitedly.
Haldir, Legolas, and the twins nodded happily and they scampered down to the glade. Haldir was the tallest so he retreived the silver pitcher, he filled it although with much difficulty. Orophin came and helped him dump it into the mirror. Then standing on tip toe the elflings gazed into the mirror excited and wondering what they would see. The water cleared and they saw an older version of Haldir standing looking haughty at several elves. He bore the crest of the March Warden.
"Oh Haldir your going to be March Warden!" Legolas gushed happily as Haldir grinned.
The image changed and they saw Rumil and Orophin smiling on their bonding day. Suddenly the angle of the image changed and they saw their mates. Orophin gasped and stumbled back shaking his head violently. Finaly the last image showed up......Elladan and Elrohir cradling the broken, bloody body of their mother. They saw Celebrian traveling home when her escort was attcked, they watched in horror as she was beaten and drug off by Orcs. Screaming the twins fell to the ground sobbing and clutching at one another. Galadriel had sensed someone using her mirror and in her terror she sent Celeborn, Saelbeth, and Elrond. They found the elflings in a bad state os shock. Holding his sons Elrond wanted to know what they had seen while Celeborn cradled his sons nearby. Legolas looked like he might faint so Saelbeth held him close as the elflings told of all the had seen. Elrond gasped and held his sons when they told about their mother. Elrond, Celeborn, and Saelbeth's eyes met in horror. There was no way these boys sould have been able to wprk the mirror which meant that they had the gift of sight and the images would most likely come true.
