Chapter 12
Legolas took the news very well. Despite his initial shock, the Prince wanted
nothing but to see his lover and to be there for him and offer as much support
as he could, but fade, but he quickly became distraught upon hearing that Rumil
had not wanted to tell him of his pregnancy and that he was so unhappy he wished
he would fade. 'I must make him see that there is happiness to be found in
having the baby,' he thought, and spent the entire time pondering just how he
would be able to do that.
Shortly before arriving Orophin came to an unexpected halt. The Prince turned a
questioning gaze on his companion. "Before we go on, there is something I must
tell you," Orophin started. "I am sorry for the way I behaved the day you
left..."
"There is no need to apologize," the Wood Elf interrupted. "One should not dwell
on past mistakes."
"He saw us, Legolas."
Legolas' jaw dropped and he could do nothing but stare at Orophin in disbelief.
"He did not speak of it until after we found out about his condition," the
Guardian continued. "But I told him the truth. I told him that it was I who came
on to you, and that you turned me away." He noted Legolas' clenched fists and
that he took a deep breath to try to calm down. A single tear escaped Orophin's
eye and slowly made its way down his cheek.
"Why do you weep now?" Legolas asked, unsure whether it was the anger he had
failed to conceal or the painful memory of rejection that had brought the
'Lorien Elf to tears.
Orophin wiped the tear away with the back of his hand. "I have failed him, as a
brother."
"Do not say such things..."
"Nay, 'tis true. Because of my selfishness I have wronged him time and time
again. He dislikes me now. He does not trust me." More tears began to stream
down the Guardian's face. "It hurts that he will not allow me to offer him any
comfort now."
Legolas put a sender hand Orophin's shoulder and said, "I see a change in you,
mellon, and it is, no doubt, a change for the better. Rumil will see it too, but
for now you must be patient." He hugged the 'Lorien Elf and offered him his
shoulder to cry on for as long as he needed it.

As soon as he saw Legolas' face Rumil attempted to bolt. He did not wish for
anyone to see him with his now noticeable belly, least of all the Elf he was in
love with. Haldir's quick reflexes, however, did not let him get away. Even ais olderlder brother held him, Rumil would not face his lover.
Words were useless at that moment and Legolas knew this, so he simply took Rumil
from Haldir's arms and into his own. It did not take long for Rumil to relax and
return his embrace. "Melin chen," he whispered against platinum blonde hair.
They now had the talan to themselves for Haldir and Orophin had been thoughtful
enough to leave, giving them some much needrivarivacy. "Come, sit with me," said
the Princ
"H
"Haldir wrote to you?" Rumil asked after the had made themselves comfortable in
a blue divan.
"Aye," the Prince answered. "Why did you want to keep my in the dark about this
Rumi?"
"I was afraid of what you would say," the Guardian answered. He hesitated,
unsure whether or not he should ask what was on his mind. "What DO you say? Is
it over between us?"
"Nay, it is not over. And I am the happiest Elf on Arda," Legolas assured him.
"You need not lie to me, Legolas."
"'Tis the truth. You were all I ever wanted, and now you are giving me what I
thought I could never have. I have loved you since first time we met. Naturally
I thought that being with you meant that I must give up my dream of having
Elflings, but now..."
"So you are HAPPY that I am going to have an Elfling?" Rumil asked in disbelief.
"Aye,"said Legolas, and pressed his lips against Rumil's to kiss him, but the
Guardian pulled away.
"But when you asked if I could get pregnant, after we made love, you sounded
worried..."
"I was worried about your well-being," Legolas told him.
Now it was Rumil who leaned in for a kiss. As their tongues met, the Prince
brought his hand to his lover's belly, letting it rest there while the kiss
deepened. It was not long before Rumil covered Legolas' and with his own.
