Chapter 113
The Fire Dance
Ch113
Glorduin sat quietly and just watched Torfindel sleep, smiling at how
small he looked all tucked in his parents overly large bed and thought
'My Adar would never have tolerated my sleeping in his and Nana's
bed...but I know Glorfindel would not
mind...*Sigh*...Glorfindel...after how I treated you, you still became
the parent I never could be'
Looking over at the remaining letters, Glorduin picked them up and
began to read......
To My Friend Cirdan,
I...I like ellyn.
~Glorfindel
Glorduin sighed as he shook his head and whispered to the letter "I
know you did ion...and I...and I hurt you for it. I know we have
become closer, but there is Still this underlying tension between
us...as though you fear that I will again, treat you like I used
to...*Groan*...how do I make amends for how I treated you"
The ancient lord looked over at Gwee and smiled "Oh my dear ion, you
have done so well with Gwee, with accepting his size...nurturing him
with all the love you posses...my Adar would have probably drowned him,
or in the least, called him runt for his entire life..."
Glorduin looked out the baloney and contemplated the time due to the
moons position, then scooped up the letters and quietly left the chamber.
Once he was gone, Torfindel sat up and wiped his eyes "Runt? He would
have called me runt? Or drown me?"
Taking a deep breath, Gwee again wiped his eyes "Mandos?"
A few moments later, Mandos appeared "Aye Gwee?"
"Is my Dearadar's Adar in your halls?"
Mandos arched his brow "Why do you ask my friend?"
"Is he?"
"Aye Gwee, he is there"
"Where is he in your Halls?"
"He dwells in the Hall of Retribution"
Torfindel swallowed hard "So Aglar would have...uh...worked with him?"
*Sigh* "Gwee, where is this leading, what is it you are seeking from me?"
"Has...does....does he have any remorse for what he has done and how
he treated my Daeradar?"
Mandos sat on the edge of the bed and gently placed his hand on Gwee's
knee "Nay, he repents not for his actions"
~*~*~
A few weeks later............
Knocking loudly on the door, Glorduin grumbled "Cirdan! Cirdan you old
sea rat open up!"
When the door finally opened, Cirdan scratched the stubble on his chin
"What Glorduin, t'is past the mid of night and both Elrohir and I are
assisting Orophin and Lindir with the elflings in the morn"
The lord of the Golden Flower sighed "I need your help"
Cirdan did not even try to hide his disbelief "You jest"
Glorduin held out the letters "Nay, I jest not. I have read all the
letters that Glorfindel sent you and...and I would like for you to
re-read the letters and try to answer them as you did before. I know
your responses burned in Gondolin and...and I would like for
Glorfindel to have the complete correspondence he had with you"
Cirdan slowly reached out and took the letters "I will have them for
you in two days"
Glorduin sighed with relief "Hannon le Cirdan, I know those letters
meant a great deal to him"
As the ancient lord turned and walked away, a small smile graced
Cirdan's lips "T'is about time"
~*~*~
Elrond shook his head, then chuckled as Thranduil shoved him "Where is
he now, what is he doing now...Elrond!"
"Calm down Thran, he...hmmm...he is back in his own chamber and
beginning to build something"
"What! What is he building!...*ShoveShove*...tul now Rondy!"
"Thran! If you continue to shove me I will cease my watching and
relaying what I see"
Thranduil quickly pulled his hands back and held them up "Alright, no
need to get snippy Rondy...tul now, what is he doing...I do believe
this is better then a book!"
After a little while, Elrond smiled "It looks to be a small pen, and
now he is adding soft fabrics"
Thranduil tilted his head "What would he be needing a pen for...and in
his and Aglar's chamber"
~*~*~
Standing in the middle of his chamber, Glorduin took a deep breath
"Lord Mandos? Would you come and speak with me?"
Moments later, Namo appeared ***This best be good Glorduin***
Lowering his head, the elven lord sighed "I owe you much, you allowed me
to stay and be with your ion and..."
***Cease the flattering Glorduin what do you want***
"My lord, Glorfindel and Erestor are to return soon and I was
wondering if you could...could uh..."
***Aye?***
"You are one of the Valar, I Know you could easily find a orphaned
bunny, and then place it in the pen I made"
Mandos tilted his head as he crossed his arms ***You wish for me to
find a distressed bunny and place it in the pen you made***
"Aye my lord"
***I do believe that this is the oddest request anyone has Ever made
of me***
Glorduin frowned when Mandos began to disappear, then glanced at the
pen and smiled "Hannon le my lord"
~*~*~
Elrond smiled as Glorfindel and Erestor rode into the main courtyard,
then moved to the side when Torfindel ran past him and down the stone
steps "Ada! Adar!"
Glorfindel quickly grabbed him, spun him in the air, then held him
close "Ion!"
Erestor chuckled as he drew close "Aiyah Findel save some of him for me!"
As the three of them hugged, Glorduin slowly approached "You should be
quite proud of Gwee. The entire time you were gone, he cared for
himself. Well, many of us checked on him, but all in all he was alone
and self sufficient"
When Glorfindel finally handed Gwee over to Erestor, Glorduin moved
close "I missed you ion"
Surprised, Glorfindel tilted his head "Are you alright Adar?"
"I...I missed you"
Erestor blinked in shock as his father in law wrapped his arms around
his mate, thinking upon the fact that he only knew of one other time
when Glorduin had done so.
Glorfindel's thoughts were the same as his mates, remembering back to
when he was pregnant with Gwee, and how he had shared an awkward hug
with his father in the garden after breaking his nose "Adar? What is
wrong"
*Sniffle* "Need there be something wrong for me to share an embrace
with you?"
The golden warrior arched his brow as he looked at his gathered
friends "Well...uhrm...aye"
Glorduin's embrace tightened "I am sorry Glor...I am sorry Findel,
truly sorry for my actions toward you when you were little...I love
you and have always loved you I just never...never knew how to..."
Feeling his father tremble, Glorfindel wrapped his arms around him and
squeezed "T'is alright Adar"
"Nay! T'is Not alright! I was cold and cruel and never hugged you or
told you I loved you! You were the youngest elf to ever advance to top
level in your warrior training and...and I died not telling you
how...how very proud I was of you!"
Haldir winced as Melpomaen's nails dug into his bicep, then glanced
over and smiled when he saw tears rolling down his mates cheeks.
Placing his gaze to the gathered group, the Lorien warrior notice that
there was not a dry eye, then slowly reached up and wiped away his own
tears away.
Not letting go, Glorduin pulled back up and looked his son in the eyes
"I have something to show you in my chamber when you have time"
Torfindel squirmed out of his fathers embrace and stood tall "Go Ada,
I will see you later...go spend some time with Daeradar"
As Glorfindel and Glorduin walked into the Homely House, Cirdan sighed
happily "He called him Findel"
~*~*~
When everyone began to go there own way, Melpomaen noticed Lirmaen
walking off by himself "Ion?"
"Aye Ada?"
"Are you alright I noticed that you have been rather quiet lately and
taking to being by yourself"
Lirmaen smiled as he shrugged "I am just lonely I suppose"
Mel nodded "You are old enough to begin courting someone is there not
a elleth or ellon you find fair?"
*Shrug* "My eyes have fallen upon a few but they do not hold my
interest I grew up with all of them and consider them friends"
"You will find someone ion there is a mate for everyone give it time you
are young"
~*~*~
Glorfindel followed his father into his chamber, then stopped and
blinked "Adar...you"
Glorduin smiled as he walked over to the pen "It was orphaned so I
took it in. I tell you ion, I had not realized how hard it was to care
for such a tiny thing, the feedings alone...eh, it has been three Long
days I tell you. How did you do it"
"Do what"
"Care for those tiny bunny's all by yourself, I fear I may not succeed
and the little one will perish"
Glorfindel looked at the pen and soft torn up cloths "Well, for one,
she should not be nestled atop the cloths Adar, she should be buried
within them. Rabbits burrow then take their underfur and make a warm nest"
The seneschal furrowed his brow when he father immediately stepped
into the pen and began to gently bury the little bunny "Adar why are
you doing this"
"Because you said she needs to be..."
Glorfindel shook his head "Nay Adar why are you caring for her in the
first place"
After tending to the tiny bunny, Glorduin stepped out and moved close
"Because you cared for some when you were but an elfling and I...and
I placed it outside in the cold, then made You stay out with it. I
want to nurture this one with...with uh..."
"With what Adar"
"Ion, would you help me care for this little life? I did not help you
like I should have and...and I thought perhaps together we..."
"Get into the pen Adar"
Doing as his son said, Glorduin watched as Glorfindel sat down
"Alright Adar, now lay on your side, keep the bunny within a small
ball of the cloths, and pull the ball close to your chest, but do not
squeeze. She needs the warmth of your body"
After doing what his son suggested, Glorduin looked up "Tell me ion, how
many did you care for?"
"Three"
"And the one I put out...the one you stayed out with, how did it fair?"
"He died. I buried him in the back of Nana's garden"
Glorduin looked down at the bundle in his arms "I am sorry ion, was it
due to my putting..."
Glorfindel held up his hand "He was smaller then the other two Ada, I
doubt he would have lived even if you Had allowed me to keep him within
our home"
The lord of the Golden Flower blinked 'He called me Ada', then nodded
"Well, this one will live, grow, have younglings and die of old age"
Glorfindel smiled as he leaned back against the edge of the pen.
