A/N: *Emphasis*, (Thoughts)
This story has been floating around in my mind and demanded to be written. It features a darker Elladan than we are used to and a young vulnerable Legolas. For the purpose of this story, I have decided (with some advice from the great and wonderful Min.) that the age of majority for an elf is 500 years. Legolas will reach his majority during the year of their betrothal. NO underage sex!!! NO non-con and NO rape!!!
Feedback: Would be wonderful and makes me type faster!
Summary: Legolas deals with his dreams and loneliness. Orcs attack while Legolas is out on patrol with Elladan and the Imladris Guard.

Chapter Ten

Two weeks had passed since Bargon and Maethoron left for Taur-nu-Fuin, and Legolas felt as alone as ever. Mithrandir’s visit had been delayed by unforeseen circumstances which were not shared with anyone except Lord Elrond. Elladan still treated him as he always had except when they were around others. The elf warrior seemed to try to be nicer, especially in front of Celebrian.

Although he no longer had to get up early enough to help Elladan clean the stalls out, Legolas was not sleeping well and it showed. With no one to confide in the prince was an emotional wreck. He was normally jovial and friendly with the other elves in the valley, but his lack of sleep kept him from truly enjoying their company.

The prince was plagued by dreams of Elladan and the kiss they had shared in the hayloft. He would wake drenched with sweat and breathing as though he had run through the forest of his home at full speed. More often than not the ache of unspent desire raged through him and his arousal would pulse with need until he gave in and pleasured himself. Legolas only had to grasp his erection and he would explode, leaving him woozy and spent while thoughts of Elladan drifted through his dizzy and passion drained mind.

What bothered the prince more than anything were the times the dream continued past the kiss and Elladan would touch him in ways and places he had never imagined. The elf warrior pulled moans and pleas from him in ways that embarrassed the prince when he thought of them when he was awake. In the dreams, Legolas craved Elladan’s touch, and would wake moaning his name as his seed spilled into his sleep pants.

The results of these dreams left Legolas feeling disgusted, guilty and reluctant to fall back to sleep. He did not even like Elladan, but his dreams made him wonder if he did indeed desire Elladan, or was it Elladan’s kiss he desired? A shudder passed through him as he tried to shake the thoughts of the elf warrior from his mind.

There was a light knock on Legolas’ door and he quickly pulled on a tunic before answering. It was one of the servants who normally did Elladan’s bidding, and the prince was surprised to see him at his door.

“Lord Elladan requests your presence at his rooms,” the elf announced. “He also requested that you make haste.”

“Thank you, I shall make my way there now,” Legolas replied as he stepped out of his room and started towards Elladan’s.

What could Elladan possibly want this early in the morning? Surely he hadn’t done anything to cause him to be angry since last night. With a sigh he knocked on the door hoping Elladan would be in a good mood.

The only thing Legolas noticed when Elladan opened the door was that the elf warrior’s tunic was open showing his muscled chest. The prince couldn’t make himself look Elladan in the face until the twin said his name.

“Legolas, you are going patrol with us this morning,” the elf warrior said with barely repressed hostility. “You are to stay beside me at all times and do as I say. If you refuse to follow my directions, there will be hell to pay when we return home. Do you understand?”

“Aye, but I have gone on many patrols in Taur-nu-Fuin without escort and taken care of myself even in battle,” Legolas replied hoping to gain some freedom from Elladan.

“If you want to argue about this you can just stay here,” the elf warrior snapped as he fastened his tunic. “I have better things to do than baby-sit you anyway.”

“Then why bother taking me at all?” Legolas asked with an edge to his voice.

“Believe me, princeling, it was not my idea, but Glorfindel’s,” Elladan replied hatefully. “If it was up to me you would not go. Get your weapons and meet me at the stables. You have five minutes.”

Before Legolas could reply Elladan shut the door so the prince headed back to his room to get the sword he was given and his bow and quiver.

Two minutes later he was at the stables where Glorfindel greeted him with smile. “I thought you might enjoy a chance to see what a patrol was like here in Imladris,” the blond warrior said. “I don’t expect any trouble, but be on your guard and stay with Elladan. I realize you have gone on patrol in Taur-nu-Fuin, but we are entrusted with your safety. I do not wish to be the one to explain to your father what happened if you were to be injured.”

“Thank you Glorfindel,” Legolas said, able to smile now that he understood the reason for such precautions. “It will be good to ride Faerlain if nothing else. I will ready him for the ride.”

“There is no need, Ernilen,” Glorfindel remarked. “He is saddled and ready, but you may double check your equipment. It is always good to be sure about such things.”

The rest of the guard seemed to be rechecking weapons and equipment, and Legolas greeted Faerlain before starting his own inspection. It was at this point that Elladan arrived and the call to mount up was given.

Taking his place next to Elladan, Legolas noticed that they were riding towards the back of the group. “Do you always ride with so many ahead of you?”

“Nay I do not, but with you along I thought it best we were not so exposed.” Elladan muttered, not happy at all with the situation.

The prince shook his head and wondered when Elladan would give him a break. At home he was counted among the best, regularly rode with patrols, and was treated as any other guard. What did he have to do to convince the elf warrior that he could take care of himself in battle?

Not far from the borders of Imladris, Faerlain began to act out and Elladan flashed Legolas a look of disproval. Glaring back at the elf warrior, Legolas called out a warning just as a horde of orcs ambushed the party from both sides. Swords were drawn and wielded by the Imladris guard, but Legolas readied his bow and began to fire with deadly accuracy on the marauding band.

In the melee the prince became separated from Elladan, and with no time to look for the elf warrior, Legolas continued to fire arrows until his quiver was nearly empty. As he drew his sword he happened to catch sight of Elladan who was surrounded by the fell creatures. Fighting his way to the elf warrior, Legolas cut and sliced through the creatures until he saw Elladan pulled from his mount. Pure terror made its way through his being as he pulled his bow out once again.

Three arrows were released as Legolas jumped from his mount, killing as many orcs. Fighting with his sword on foot, he slashed through the enemy until he dispatched the orcs surrounding Elladan. The elf warrior was on the ground, wounded but still fighting, as Legolas tried to protect him from further harm. Unused to wielding a sword, the prince tired quickly and began to use an arrow as protection. Help arrived and Legolas turned his attention to Elladan. The prince began to tear strips from his own tunic to stop the worst of the bleeding.

“Do not worry about me,” Elladan snapped painfully as he applied pressure to the serious wound on his leg. “There are others who need help.”

“Shut up, Elladan,” Legolas hissed in reply and tied a strip of his tunic around the elf warrior’s leg. The prince saw Glorfindel and waved him over to them.

When Glorfindel arrived, Legolas gladly relinquished care of the elf warrior to him and stood back to give the blond warrior room. As the rest of the guards took care of the wounded and dead, the prince was glued to his spot watching as Glorfindel assessed Elladan’s wounds. Another elf was applying pressure to a wound on his shoulder while Legolas caught the twin’s stallion.

Once Elladan was ready to be transported, Glorfindel mounted his horse and the elf warrior was placed in front of him. Leaving a lieutenant in charge, the balrog slayer left for Imladris, hoping to get Elladan back to a healer quickly. Legolas helped with the clean up and piling of the bodies of orcs for burning before returning home with the remaining guards. It was a quiet ride as expected, for most were concerned about their fellows and the elves who were lost this day.

Before doing anything else Legolas made his way to the healing halls to check on Elladan. Lord Elrond was tending to him and the prince stood far enough away so that he would interrupt. Glorfindel happened to look up, and seeing Legolas standing there, walked over to him.

“What you did probably kept him from losing his leg,” the balrog slayer said as he placed an arm around the prince’s shoulder. “Elladan will be fine, but it will be a while before he is able to use his leg. It must heal and he will be confined to bed for several days, but he will be as good as new.”

“We were separated when they attacked and I was unable to get back to him as quickly as I should have,” Legolas explained wearily. “I do not wish to upset him, but I wanted to see if he was going to be all right.”

“You are covered in blood, Ernilen,” Glorfindel remarked as he looked over Legolas. “Are you wounded?”

“Nay, it is mostly orc blood and Elladan’s. I am unharmed,” Legolas replied as he looked down at his clothing.

“There is nothing you can do here,” the blond warrior remarked. “Go bathe and take some rest. You have earned it.”

Legolas nodded and gave Glorfindel a tired smile before leaving the healing hall to have a bath, but not before taking one last look at Elladan. Their eyes met and locked for a second before the prince turned and left the hall.

Elladan’s eyes stared at the doorway for several moments before looking away.
