Chapter Eleven

Elrohir broke their kiss and Legolas placed his head on the twin’s
shoulder. “I will never regret loving you or starting this, melethen. Do not
think that because I share my reluctance to share you with my brother means I
love you any less.”

“I do not doubt your love for me, Elrohir,” Legolas replied softly as he
raised his head to look at the elf knight. “I doubt the fact that you are not
hurting.”

“That is something that I have to work out on my own, seron vell,”
Elrohir answered, softly and raised his hand to stop Legolas from speaking. “I
will work it out as I imagine Elladan will have to.”

“If we are all going to end up getting hurt I want to stop this now, before
it goes any further,” Legolas stated firmly.

Elrohir looked at him in astonishment and opened his mouth to speak, but
Legolas beat him to it.

“Would it not be best to end it now? Before we are all in far too deep?”
Legolas looked at the elf knight with somber eyes.

“I am in far too deeply already,” Elrohir said, grabbing Legolas’
shoulders. “Ending things now will be no different than ending them later. I
love you! How much more plain can I be than that?”

“You can’t and I love you, my Elf knight. Forgive me,” the prince said,
hugging Elrohir close. “I am new at this, remember? Sometimes my feelings
overwhelm me and I become frightened.”

“Aye, I remember and I understand, my Prince.” Elrohir kissed him
tenderly. “Love can be frightening, but I am always here for you if you need
to talk something out, Legolas. Things will work out; we will settle for nothing
less.”

“Aye, nothing. Our love will guide us,” Legolas smiled as he replied.

“You can relax, Elladan,” Elrond said, placing his hand on his son’s
shoulder and smiling. “The child is not yours.”

“Elbereth be praised!” Elladan replied, blowing out a breath and sitting
down in a chair. “What will happen now?”

“I am taking her father to my office for a discussion concerning his
daughter’s behavior,” Elrond advised him. “I do not think you have to
worry about Ervinai giving you any problems after today. Elladan, if she
approaches you, please, use good sense and walk away.”

“I promise you, father, I will never speak to her or go near her again,”
Elrond’s eldest swore earnestly. “I must find Legolas and Elrohir. Do I have
your leave?”

“You do, but take my advice, son,” the elf lord offered. “Tell Legolas
everything. You cannot build a relationship on half truths.”

Elladan’s enthusiasm calmed some, but he nodded. “I will tell him and
maybe that will help him understand. I only hope I can find the right words.”

“The words will come easier than you think,” Elrond replied patting his
back. “If he loves you, he will listen and understand. Go, find him.” The
elf lord watched as Elladan left the rooms and shook his head, but a smile could
be seen forming on his lips.

“It looks like Elladan heard good news,” Elrohir said, gesturing with a
nod towards his quickly approaching twin.

Legolas turned to see Elladan running to them with a smile on his face. “Looks
like you might be right.”

They picked up their weapons and started walking towards the elder twin,
meeting him about half way across the archery range. The wide smile on Elladan’s
face gave away his news, but Elrohir waited patiently for him to speak.

Legolas on the other hand, wasn't willing to wait. He
quickly made the decision that he would hide the hurt and concern that Elladan's
actions with Erviniai had caused him until he had the opportunity to speak to
the elder twin about it alone.
"Tell us what happened, Elladan, my
patience this day is already spent!"

“The child is not mine!” Elladan nearly shouted with joy as he hugged a
smiling Legolas to him, spinning him around. “Ervinai is out of my life and I
could not be happier.” He grabbed Elrohir in a tight hug.

“If you spin me around, I will make you regret it,” the younger twin
threatened sharply, causing them all to laugh. “I am very happy for you,
Elladan and will not say I told you so.”

“Thank you, brother, although I deserve it,” Elladan admitted. “Did you
enjoy your practice?”

“Nay, a certain prince couldn’t concentrate enough to hit the center of
the target every time, so we quit,” Elrohir teased with a smile.

Legolas blushed becomingly and tried to look down before Elrohir could see,
but he was not quick enough.

“There it is again,” the elf knight remarked, smiling. “You tempt me so
when you do that, it is hardly fair now that Elladan is here and we are in the
middle of the archery field.”

“Now that I am here, I am not leaving,” Elladan insisted with a smile of
his own.

Legolas chuckled and pushed at Elrohir playfully. “I am not one to blush.
It is just around you, **Elrohir**.”

Elladan grinned at his brother and winked. “Will you not blush for me, my
Prince? I am sure I can think of something that will bring one about.”

Legolas’ only reply was a soft grin and Elladan turned back to Elrohir.

“Roh, would you mind if I borrowed Legolas for the rest of the afternoon?
There are some things he and I need to speak of …”

“Say no more, Dan,” Elrohir replied, placing a hand on his brother’s
shoulder. “I will take our weapons back home, Legolas, and join you both at
the evening meal.”

Legolas gave Elrohir a tender kiss before handing his quiver, arrows and bow
over to him. “I love you, my Elf knight, always.”

“And I love you. Please listen to Elladan, for he loves you too, my Prince,”
Elrohir advised before wishing them both a pleasant afternoon and heading for
home.

As Legolas watched Elrohir leave, Elladan took his hand. “It would be hard
to find a better heart to capture than his.”

“I am learning that,” Legolas said, turning to face Elladan. “It seems
I am learning a lot of things here in this valley.”

“Today you will learn even more, melethen,” Elladan promised soberly. “There
is much I have to tell you, and when I finish I hope you will know me better and
understand some of my actions.”

“I will listen, Elladan, you have my word,” the prince replied honestly.
“I will be as understanding as I am able.”

“I love you,” Elladan replied, caressing Legolas’ cheek with his
fingertips. “Come, I have the perfect place for our discussion.”

Legolas followed Elladan to a ridge and sat down next to him. “This is
where I come when I seek a few minutes of privacy,” the twin said, gesturing
to the view with a sweep of his hand.

The view of the valley was magnificent and Legolas was captivated by it for
several moments. He could see the cascading waterfalls, the elven architecture
of the majestic Last Homely House, and many elves rushing about at work or play.

“I can see why you come here; it is a glorious view of the vale,” Legolas
replied, committing the view to memory. There were waterfalls in Mirkwood, but
nothing that matched what he witnessed here. The forest of Mirkwood was too
closely packed, and even now the healing of the trees damaged from the shadow
did not offer one peace as this did.

Elladan watched Legolas as his cerulean eyes looked over his home, and the
prince’s beautiful face depicted the joy he felt at the sight. “Perhaps one
day you will live here with us and enjoy all that you see before you, my Prince.”

“It would be hard to turn down the chance to be here, in Imladris,”
Legolas admitted as he turned to look at the elf warrior. “Share with me what
troubles you, Elladan; I will help you bear your troubles. Perhaps I can even
help you solve some of them, or at least listen to those I can’t.”

“Ai, my Prince, where were you when I was younger? Still an elfling in
swaddling clothes. Would that you were my age or older, I may not have these
problems.” Elladan sighed and pulled Legolas closer by wrapping his arm around
his waist. “Many things happened to me before your birth, but I have little
doubt you will help me with my troubles, young as you are.”

“I am no elfling, Elladan,” Legolas reminded him, softly. “I may be
young compared to you, but I have lived a full life and have proved my courage
in battle. I am proving it further now by loving the Sons of Elrond. Who but a
stubborn, albeit brave, Wood Elf would
attempt such a feat?”

“None that I know,” Elladan chuckled and kissed Legolas’ cheek. “You
wish to hear the whole of it?

“Aye, I do,” Legolas replied. “I would know you, Elladan, and your past
makes you who you are today.”

“Before my majority I was enamored with the Marchwarden of Lorien,”
Elladan began softly. “He was the most handsome elf I had ever seen, but that
changed when I first saw you. Haldir would come to Imladris with my grandfather
and he always made time to teach Elrohir and me some new move or help us with
our archery. When my brother and I traveled to Lorien, he always made sure to
meet us and ask about our lives and training. I knew of his reputation as a
haughty elf and heard tales of his carnal exploits. I wasn’t discouraged by
them; they only served to boost my interest in him.

As our majority approached I made it known I wished Haldir to be my teacher,
and father made all the required arrangements. My excitement knew no bounds; as
the day approached I could hardly sit still knowing I would have the one elf I
craved teach me the act of loving. You probably felt the same excitement as your
majority rites approached.”

“Nay, the elf was not of my choosing,” Legolas replied quietly. “My
father made sure I was tutored by the captain of his private guard, but I will
explain that later. Tell me, what happened?”

“On our begetting day I made sure to bathe in vanilla scented water,
dressed in my finest attire and braided my hair in elaborate braids. Glorfindel’s
guidance was greatly appreciated, as I was in such a state I probably would have
appeared in front of all of the celebrants half-clothed. He proved to be more
comfort to me than I ever thought possible and made me aware of what would
occur. If I had been smart and not so smitten with Haldir, I would have chosen
our very own Balrog slayer as my tutor.”

“Glorfindel would have been a fine choice, I agree with that assessment,”
Legolas replied, smiling.

“So you fancy our esteemed blond warrior, do you?” Elladan teased.

“Nay!” Legolas replied with a flush. “I was thinking how much knowledge
he has in the love arts. Two lifetime’s worth!”

“`Tis good to know, my Prince,” Elladan answered, chuckling as he enjoyed
the slight blush on Legolas’ cheeks. “I would hate to have to challenge
Glorfindel to a duel for your heart. He bests both Elrohir and I more often than
not.”

“My heart is otherwise engaged. Glorfindel will just have to accept that,”
Legolas said cheekily.

“It is his loss,” Elladan replied. “As evening approached I grew more
nervous, but it was an excited nervousness. I was well acquainted with self
pleasuring and couldn’t wait to be shown more. There had to be more.

“To my dismay, Haldir enjoyed more than his fair share of wine, and by the
time he collected me, he was in no mood for genteel affections. To say that I
was roughly used would be an understatement. I was sore and bleeding, as Haldir
lay beside me, passed out and sated. The next morning I was
still sore and bleeding, and was
exhausted from crying most of the night before. Father happened to see me
and treated me in the privacy of my room so no one would know what had
occurred.”

“What happened to Haldir? Did he have to pay for his ill treatment of you?”
Legolas demanded.

“Nay. I begged my father to say nothing. I was extremely embarrassed by the
whole situation and wanted to forget it as soon as possible. To this day, Haldir
thinks he taught me what I know of coupling, and wonders why I avoid him at all
costs.

I swore that night that I would never love another male, human or elf, and I
kept that vow until you showed up at the pool that day. I desired you more than
I have ever desired anything, and I swore I would have you. Little did I know
that desire would grow to love. I do love you, Legolas.”
