Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Orophin/Erestor, Glorfindel/Lindir

Summary: Orophin's first visit to Imladris is fairly uneventful and boring until he stumbles upon a certain black haired advisor in the library. Now his goal is to win Erestor's heart before he heads home again.

Glorfindel could feel the heat rising within him as he watched Erestor stroll away with Orophin. The silver haired elf looked back at him once as they retreated, but not for long. Glorfindel suddenly became aware of his fists tightening and releasing at his sides.

What right did Orophin have to the little elf? He did not live here, nor did he ever visit save for this one time. And he would be leaving eventually. Glorfindel, on the other hand, was always here, and had been the object of the little elf’s affections for as long as he could remember.

“Well. It cannot be that hard to win them back, I suppose. After all, what has Orophin got that I do not?”

He smiled to himself as he turned and continued down the path. It would take some time, he knew, and it would require a lot of clever planning. But eventually Erestor would give in to the feelings that had always been present, leaving Orophin to fend for himself. After all, he deserved it. Orophin was known for his conquests, and Erestor was meant to be one of them. If he could change him like that so quickly… Glorfindel smiled. “He must really be something else between the sheets!”

Erestor snuggled into Orophin’s side, leaning his head onto his shoulder and smiling as he felt an arm wrap around his shoulders.

“You are sure you are alright, Erestor?”

“Oh, yes. He did not hurt me.”

“What was he trying to do, anyway?”

“I am not sure. Honestly. He has never shown an interest in me before.”

“But you are interested in him.”

“I was. I guess I still am, in a way. I have had feelings for him for a long time, Orophin, it is not something I can just shake off.”

“I know.”

“But trust me, love, I will do nothing to jeopardize our relationship.”

“Nor will I. Erestor, I must admit, you have cast a spell on me. And I do trust you.”

“I hope so. I certainly do not want to lose you because of Glorfindel acting strangely all of a sudden.”

“I do wonder what has gotten into him, though.”

“You know him better than I. Is he known for being forceful?”

“Not to my knowledge. According to Lindir, he is actually very gentle.”

“That is what I have heard, too. So why was he handling me in such a way?”

“I am not sure. But, Erestor, I think we need to spend more time together.”

“Why?”

“Maybe he will get the hint if he sees us together a lot.”

“I think he will leave me alone now, do you not think so?”

“No, I do not.” Orophin turned his head slightly and breathed in the scent of Erestor’s hair. “I would not give up so easy.”

“You did not, either!” Erestor laughed.

“No. No I did not.”

“And I am glad.”

“As am I. And I will work just as hard to keep you, love.”

“I am glad to hear that!”

Haldir jumped as the door to his rooms flew open. “Glorfindel?”

“Haldir, I need your help.”

“With what, my friend?”

“Erestor.”

“With… Erestor?”

“Yes. I need you to help me win him over.”

“And how exactly should I do that? Or why? He is, after all, being courted by my brother. Or did forget Orophin is my brother?”

“I did not forget. It is the exact reason I came to you. You would know best what his flaws are.”

“Ah, so you expect me to turn on my brother’s happiness?”

“Well, no. Maybe we can… maybe we can get him interested in Lindir!”

“But Lindir is your love, Glorfindel.”

“A nice trade off is due. And at least I already know what Orophin would be getting in exchange for Erestor. He would not be disappointed.”

“How is that?”

“Lindir has some interesting talents, to put it nicely.”

“You think that is enough?”

“Of course! Orophin is not really interested in anything else.”

“And neither are you, I see.”

“Haldir! Admit it. I would be better for Erestor anyway!”

“Oh really?”

“Yes, really. What has your little brother got to offer Erestor? Nothing, really!”

“Glorfindel, I must admit. You are a hundred times more ignorant than I ever imagined you could be.”

“Excuse me?”

“There is no excuse for you. I really know nothing about you, do I?”

“You know enough to be a friend. And you are my friend, are you not, Haldir?”

“Obviously not. My brother’s happiness is more important to me than yours. You, my friend, are a beast. Nothing more, but possibly something less.”

“You have some nerve to insult me.”

“And you have more to come barging into my rooms insulting me and mine. Now please leave.”

“You will not help me?”

“Of course not! How do you think Orophin knew what you were doing in the first place?”

Glorfindel stared at him in amazement. “You told him?”

“You expected something different? Glorfindel, is your brain functioning at all right now? Because I never, not in a million years, figured you to be this dense!”

Feeling the heat in his face rising, Glorfindel walked from the room, gently closing the door behind him. He was not that dumb, and he knew it. So why had he expected Haldir to take his side against his own brother.

Shaking his head, Glorfindel walked out of the building and headed back towards the barracks. He had a choice. He could try to work with Lindir and make things better, which would also save his friendship at least with Haldir. But on the other hand… Erestor had always been there, free for the taking. Now that he was no longer available, he was just that much more desirable.

“Oh, forget Lindir.”
