ERESTOR & GLORFINDEL

Erestor stared at Glorfindel, looking up at the blonde‘s rminrmined face while still within his arms. “Why did you follow me?” he said sharply, "You are hurt, you should be lying down.”

“Only if you lie down with me.” Glorfindel responded. “Erestor. Erestor there is so much more to you than I had ever imagined. You are like a deep ocean, I can see only a little; everything else is far below to depths I cannot yet reach. You told me part of the story, but I know there is more, and it is not the time to speak of it.” The warrior coaxed the younger elf to sit down with him in the grass, smiling when Erestor sank with him.

“I haven’t spoken of it for a long time.” Erestor admitted softly, “Sometimes I wish it was all a nightmare, and other days I even believe that.”

Glorfindel knew one thing, he was not going to let Erestor’s past interfere with the present. He had come too close to his goal to let it run now. “You cannot blame yourself for something designed by another.”

“I can if I willingly participated in it.”

“You did not know she was there, Erestor. And you saved her from that mon…”

“DON’T.” Erestor struggled, trying to get out of Glorfindel’s arms, but found himself locked within them. The elder elf was far stronger. “Don’t try to justify it, and don’t judge him. You never knew him. You don’t know what he was like. You just know what he did.” Tears pooled in the younger elf’s eyes as he finally gave up his struggling and the other soothed him as gently as he could.

“Then tell me about him. Make me understand.”

“Glorfindel, why must you torment me like this? I do not want to remember. He is dead, he is gone from my life forever.” Erestor bit his lip, “I will submit to you if you stop this…”

“No!” Glorfindel’s sharp voice rang through the clearing. “No, you’re not going to do that, you’re not going to try and use your body. Erestor…” he took a deep breath. “Erestor you know I want you, you know that, but I would -never- take you like that. You do not have to give yourself to me to avoid speaking of something that pains you. Oh, My dear..” he gently tilted Erestor’s chin up so that he could look into the others eyes. “The past is the past, what you have done I understand that you had to do what was right at the time. You do not have to tell me any more.”

“You do not hate me?” Erestor blinked in some confusion for he was quite surprised, he hadn’t expected this, he remembered the look of disgust upon Glorfindel’s face when he had mentioned that his child was left behind.

“I do not hate you.” Glorfindel reassured Erestor as much as he could. “I could not.” One finger brushed at a tear that trickled down the other elf’s smooth cheek. “I know the past has been hard for you, but can you not accept treseresent for the moment? Just for the moment?”

“Glorfindel.” Erestor’s hand slid up to clasp the one that caressed his cheek and their fingers entwined together. “I …”

“Shhh…leave words behind. Just feel me, feel this…” The blonde then closed the distance between their lips in a kiss that came from somewhere beyond this realm. Erestor could not quite believe it was happening, it was like being lifted to the heavens. He gasped, his body arching into Glorfindel’s, his hands trembling as they sought the other elf’s shoulders then ran down his back.

They pressed close together, their bodies so tight, their need so obvious and yet he hesitated when Glorfindel’s lips left his and trailed down his jaw to his neck and up again. “Erestor?” he paused, pulling his lips away to hold the other’s eyes. Erestor had stopped responding and had become quite rigid, fear lacing his face. “Erestor, I will not hurt you. I swear it.”

“I know.” Erestor said faintly, letting his hands fall back to his sides, denying himself the need his body begged for. “I can’t, Glorfindel. I want to…but. But I just cannot do this.”

“Erestor.” Glorfindel tried to keep the frustration from his eyes, he never felt so much at a loss as he did now. “Erestor it is the past, let it go. He is gone. You are here. I need you. I…”

Erestor put a finger to the blonde’s lips, hushing the words about to be spoken. “Don’t say it. Please.” tears threatened and he blinked them away stubbornly. “I just can’t now, Glorfindel. Let us return to Rivendell and take the news of the orcs to Elrond. He will want to know the enemy is moving and the way between Lorien and Rivendell will be nearly impossible without losing great numbers.”

“And us?” Glorfindel stared hard at the other elf, his face masking his emotion, wanting so badly to take Erestor back into his arms, but knowing he had to wait. He could not push this one, however much he wanted to.

“Perhaps in time, give me time, Glorfindel. That is all I ask. I cannot rush into this. I need to think. To understand…. To decide.” Erestor nibbled on his lower lip fretfully, “I have no right to ask it of you, no right at all.

“You want me to wait for you…to…” Glorfindel’s eyes narrowed slightly as he attempted to figure out what Erestor was trying to tell him.

“NO…not wait. Not really. Oh, I’m sorry.” Erestor reached up to brush tears from his eyes, “Please, all I need now is for you to hold me. Just that. Please?”

Just hold him. Glorfindel searched the other elf’s eyes but could only find sincerity. He sighed, wait. He could do that, he supposed. The elder elf drew his arms around the dark haired advisor and closed them tightly. Erestor sank into the embrace and cuddled againse ste strong form of the balrog slayer. He knew then that perhaps he might be able to gain a little peace, perhaps. If they could find a rapor, Erestor was sure that he could accept Glorfindel at least as a good friend and perhaps in time as a lover. That is if Elrond had kept his word and his son was gone by the time they returned.

HALDIR & RUMIL

Rumil sighed as he looked at Elladan and Elrohir, laying so carefully next to each other. The young elf looked up at the stars as the clouds had begun to part and he wished he had said nothing earlier. Now the relationship between himself and his brother would always be marred by this night. Haldir would not forget, and was probably disgusted with him, as right he should be.

He rested on his knees as he looked down at the ground and nervously picked at the grass, he hoped that Glorfindel would be well enough to travel in the morning for they needed to get to Rivendell. There was too muangeanger surrounding them. Evil was awakening in all the lands.

Across the camp, Haldir emerged from the trees, Rumil could see him, but the young elf did nothing more than smile tightly and look back down at the grass. The elder stopped beside him, and gave a light sound which might have been one of slight impatience. He felt a soothing hand upon his head, just one soft gentle touch.

Hope surged in him and he snapped his head up to meet his brother’s e A f A false hope, however, for nothing more could he see than he had always seen. Haldir pressed his fingers against Rumil’s cheek affectionately as one brother would another and smiled wearily. “I am going to rest for a while.”

“Haldir, I.” Rumil began but the elder shook his head.

“Do not worry.” Haldir said kindly, stroking his brother’s cheek. “I love you still, Rumil. You are my brother, and will always be in my heart.”

“But not otherwise.” Rumil said heavily. “I will keep watch tonight. Sleep. I will be alright.”

“I did not say that.” Haldir said directly, but he walked to his bedroll and settled down, laying down upon his side. “Not here, Rumil. Not now. There will be time to talk later.”

Rumil sighed and looked away, not trusting to hope again that he had heard correctly. Did Haldir really mean it? He tried hard not to stare at his brother and kept his gaze firmly upon the clearing around him, noting with a grim smile that in time Glorfindel and Erestor had returned, seeming much calmer. The pair slept with their arms around each other, yerdlyrdly intimately, almost as though the blonde was comforting a small child.

The night wore on to a close as calm had reached the elves who found themselves comforted in one way or the other until dawns first light beckoned on the horizon to shed the grace of day.
