Chapter Ten
One Year Later
Elladan sat at the head table watching his newly bound mate dance with Celebrian and wondering when he would return to his side. It wasn’t that he begrudged his mother the dance, he just wanted Legolas next to him. Seeing him move about the dance floor so gracefully increased his desire to quit the feast and rush them to their room for a more intimate setting. Just the two of them and some of the fine Dorwinion wine gifted to them by Glorfindel.
The past year had been a glorious one, Thranduil had given the prince leave to stay in Imladris for the next twenty years. Of course, he tried to act like he wasn’t pleased, but all one had to do was look in the monarch’s eyes to tell that he was well delighted with the way things were going.
The Imladrin prince recovered from his grief slowly, but with his love by his side, it did not seem so bad. Everyday moment spent in Legolas’ arms forced him into becoming whole again. He wouldn’t have had to go through the grieving process at all if someone would have been brave enough to say the archer’s name to the king. He thought back to the day when everything was explained….
// They arrived for the meeting with Elrond and Thranduil fresh from a second bath, it wouldn’t have gone well for them to show up smelling like sex, not when they had to face their fathers.
“Have a seat, ion nin, I believe Thranduil has a matter he wishes to address.” Elrond said, his voice grateful for how much better Elladan looked with Legolas there.
The lovers sat on the couch in the seating area of the Elf lord’s office, holding hands and ready to hear what the king had to say.
Thranduil sat in a chair to the left of them and took a sip of wine before beginning to speak.
“I believe I owe you an apology, Elladan,” holding up a hand to stop the protest he knew was coming from the young lord’s mouth. “I realize now, I should have chosen my words more carefully when speaking to you about Legolas and also for the erroneous note I sent.
I am sure your father understands the thoughts going through my mind at the time I penned the note. One son, Mebedir, was dead and Legolas injured, I was concerned for him and I regretfully wrote his name,” Thranduil paused to take a breath and another sip of wine.
“When he heard I was coming here, he gave me the necklace and asked me to give it to you, I never expected you to think Legolas dead. I should have explained further, especially when I saw your reaction.
Like I explained, he was never one to share the details of his more private matters, I did not know the meaning of the gift. I only knew he asked me to give it to you,” he said before sitting back in his chair and looking at the two princes. “I apologize for causing you pain.
I am thinking some plans need to be made, Elrond, I think these two will hardly be able to wait out the year,” he remarked, chuckling. //
Elladan wasn’t angry with the king, it was all a misunderstanding, really, everyone was responsible for choosing not to mention Legolas’ name. He was just pleased that it was all over now and he had his fae mate, his one true love, who by the looks of it, was returning to his seat, finally!
“I thought you would dance forever,” Elladan said, giving his mate a mock pout. “Did you enjoy dancing with my mother?”
“Yes, I did, and I was only gone for five minutes and you could see me the whole time,” he said, chuckling.
The elf warrior took his mate’s hand and brought it to his mouth for a kiss. “I missed you, can we leave now?”
“Leave,” Legolas asked, looking at him with surprise. “The feast has only just begun, we have to stay through at least half of it, you know this, Elladan.”
“But I want to make love to you again and again,” he whispered in his mate‘s ear. “We can leave and come back.”
“Elladan, they will send Elrohir after us, do you really want that,” the Mirkwood prince asked.
Elladan started to say something, but was cut off by a plundering kiss as arms encircled him and pulled him close. When Legolas released him, he was breathing heavily and fell back in his chair.
“That did not help matters, Legolas,” he hissed under his breath and pointed at his now apparent arousal.
The Mirkwood prince gave him an understanding smile as he ran his hand up his thigh to rub him though his leggings. He leaned in close and whispered into his leaf shaped ear. “Perhaps I will finish what I started.”
“Oh, you will finish it, melethen, make no mistake about that,” Elladan insisted.
“I see no harm in leaving for a few minutes,” Legolas purred, taking his mate’s hand in his own.
“You mean…we are going to….now,” the young Lord asked, his eyes shinning with both love and desire.
“I am going to finish it,” Legolas said, leading him away from the feast and to their room.
And finish it, he did.
