Chapter ten
Elijah awoke to the sound of the shower and Dominic no-where to be seen. Elijah removed himself from the sheets he had become entangled in and lazily wandered into the living room still fully dressed from the night before. As soon as he sat down on the couch the shower turned off and Dominic appeared in the doorway wearing nothing but a small towel draped across his waist.

“Morning, Dom.” yawned Elijah, his mind still lingering in sleep.

He glanced over to Dominic and noticed his normally smooth, lightly tanned skin was slightly red. Dominic noticed Elijah staring.

“It’s alright I’m fine now I’ve had a shower.”

Dominic attempted grin but merely grimaced at the floor and started towards his bedroom. Elijah cut him off, pulled him into a hug and sighed.

“What are we gonna do with you? Hey?” he whispered softly and Dominic smiled into Elijah’s shoulder. Pulling back he replied.

“I’m fine now, okay? It was a long time ago, but I‘m still not completely over it, I doubt whether I‘ll ever get over it, just learn to live with the disgusting memory…”

Elijah nodded and Dominic entered his bedroom to get dressed. Elijah sank back down into the soft cushions of the small couch and turned on the TV. Dominic then reappeared fully clothed and smiling.

“I’m going shopping, Lij, are you coming with me?”

Elijah shook his head. Fully engrossed in the news. Dominic came close from behind, whispering in his ear.

“Are you sure you will be alright on your own?”

Elijah turned to face Dominic, his face millimetres from his own.

“I’ve just got a headache but it will go away on its own, I’ll be fine.”

Elijah brushed his lips against Dominic’s then returned to the news . He heard the jangle of keys and the door shut.

Dom’s had to go through a lot…

Elijah felt very sorry for trying it on with Dominic now he had found out what had happened to him.

He does like guys he just doesn’t trust them…I have to make it up to him…

Elijah heard the door slam though he hadn’t heard it open. Elijah didn’t bother to look over his shoulder, it had to be Dominic, only he had the key.

“That was quick, Dom, I thought you’d be longer.”

“Who said it was Dominic?”

Elijah swung around to see someone who was most definitely not Dominic.

“What’s the matter? Don’t you remember me?…I thought not.”

The stranger seemed to know him though he searched his mind he could recall no trace of ever seeing the woman before.

“Why should I remember you?” Elijah asked cautiously, well aware that the strange woman was armed with a stainless steel bar.

“You don’t know why you were put in to hospital? Dominic didn’t tell you?”

The intruders lips curled into a malicious grin. The small statement immediately peaked Elijah’s interest and his eyes stopped searching for escape routes.

“It was the restraining order that pushed me too far,” she continued “apparently stalking is a serious offence, but I don’t call it stalking, merely…keeping tabs… You should have just acknowledged my presence instead of ignoring me… then I wouldn’t have had to force you to notice me…steel bars can be very persuasive…”

She twirled the bar like a baton between her long, bony fingers. Elijah just stood in stunned silence, unable to believe what she was telling him.

“You attacked me…?”

The wound on the back of his head throbbed as his headache worsened. The intruder paid no attention to the interruption.

“And now I’m back to make you remember once more. Amnesia shall not stop you from acknowledging me. I cannot be ignored and neither can a steel bar!”

Elijah was backing away as she swung the bar over her head, the extra momentum propelled her forward and steel connected with skull with a sickening crack. Elijah crashed to the floor, blood pooling beneath him and his attacker standing over, the picture of a triumphant assailant. Elijah’s vision was becoming foggy, sound was now the only means of being connected with the world. I piercing scream shook the room and something heavy fell onto Elijah’s legs. He tried to see what it was but producing images was beyond his eyes ability for the moment. A soft hand was checking his pulse as he drifted into unconsciousness, listening to Dominic’s husky tones.

“What happened, Lij, what happened!?!”
