Title: Reading Between the Lines (10/?)
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Orophin/Erestor, Glorfindel/Lindir
Warnings: AU, sarcasm, bad pick up lines
Disclaimer: If they were mine I would be rich. Seeing as I am broke, they are obviously not mine. But good lord do they make dreams worth while!
Summary: Orophin's first visit to Imladris is fairly uneventful and boring until he stumbles upon a certain black haired advisor in the library. Now his goal is to win Erestor's heart before he heads home again.

Haldir sat in his rooms alone, spread out on the bed trying to get a nap in before heading back out to meet with Elrond for the second time in a day. But sleep was not coming to him. He had seen his brother walking with Erestor not too long before, and there was something in his brother’s eyes. Something that said his conquest had been put aside for something else completely.
He loved his brother. And he wanted him to be happy. One thing he had wished for him was to find love. Not one night stands or wonderful sex, but actual love. Having watched him grow up, he had kept telling himself that Orophin had a lot more growing to do, and someday he would find that love. Watching him walk with Erestor, Haldir had hoped it was on the way.
Now all he had to do was figure out how to get Glorfindel’s mind off of taking that away from Orophin. Glorfindel had already found love; he should not have Erestor, too! Haldir shook his head, trying to release the thought. Glorfindel was his friend. Imladris was not his home. And he really should keep his nose out of it.
But, then again, Orophin was his brother. This meant he had something to fight for. But how?
Hearing voices outside the door, Haldir sat up to listen. They were too muffled to understand, but he recognized Orophin’s voice.
After several moments, his brother pushed the door open and stepped inside, a smile brightening his face. Haldir smiled in return.
“Hello, Orophin. Who were you talking to?”
“Erestor. He walked me back.”
“Hm. It appears you are making progress with your conquest?”
“Conquest over. I have decided to not pursue that.”
“Really? What changed your mind?”
“I bedded him. On the library floor, of all places, but I did it. And, Haldir… I do not know what happened! But I desired more. I… felt something for him.”
“Aye, I know the feeling, dear brother. It is a wonderful one. But what do you plan to do now?”
“I have asked him to allow me to court him and he has accepted.”
“Orophin… what about when we leave? You plan to make him wait for your return?”
“Of course not.”
“So it is still a conquest.”
“No. I do not plan to return with you. I am sorry, brother, you will need to travel without me this time.”
Haldir stared at him, his mouth open. “You… plan to stay?”
“Yes, I do. I really want to see what becomes of this. I think Erestor is perfect for me. And, truth be told, he is what I have been looking for.”
“What were you looking for?”
“A soul mate.”
“And you know he is the one already?”
“Well… maybe not completely, just yet. But I just have that feeling. Do you understand?”
“Yes, I understand. But I do hope you are not jumping in to this too quickly. Staying behind is a life changing choice, to put it mildly.”
“I know, brother. I have thought of that. But there is nothing for me in Lothlorien that I have not already had or tried to have. But here I have Erestor.”
Haldir could feel his heart pounding into his rib cage like it was trying to get out. “Orophin, sit down. We need to talk.”
“What is wrong? You are not going to try to talk me out of this, are you?”
“No, I will not. But I have become aware of some problems that you need to know of.”

Erestor stepped outside, oblivious to the other elves around him. The sun felt warm against his face, and for the first time in a long while, he had no desire to spend the day in the library. Figuring Melpomaen could get along fine without him, he walked off to enjoy the day.
Passing the barracks on his way, he hardly noticed Glorfindel step outside and walk towards him.
“Erestor!”
“Oh! Glorfindel! Hello!”
“How are you on this fine day?”
Erestor tried to hide the confused look on his face. “I am fine, thank you.”
He was slightly startled to see Glorfindel was walking with him now. Their relationship was only a passing one, and while Erestor had always desired the blonde warrior, he figured he had no chance at even a friendship with him. Suspicions began to rise within him, but he pushed them off. What could the Balrog slayer possibly want from him? He had nothing to offer him.
They walked next to each other for several long moments in complete silence, and Erestor began to feel uneasy. Finally looking over at the elf beside him, he tried to keep the worry and suspicion out of his voice as he asked, “Glorfindel… is everything alright?”
“Yes, of course. Why do you ask?”
“You… you usually do not want to walk with me.”
“I know, I have been foolish. But I was thinking about you today and thought maybe we could at least be friends.”
“I… I suppose we could.”
“Good. Then we are friends.”
“What do you want, Glorfindel?”
Glorfindel looked at him and faked shock at the sudden question. “Want? Why must I want something?”
“You have never spoken more than three words to me before and all of sudden I pop into your mind and you desire my friendship?”
“I am turning over a new leaf, if you will.”
Erestor looked away, allowing his eyes to wander off towards a field where several of the warriors were practicing with each other. Glorfindel glanced over at him and then to the warriors before smiling. “You have a thing for warriors, do you not, Erestor?”
Erestor snapped around to look at him, his eyes wide. “What do you mean?”
“Oh, it does not matter. You just seem to enjoy watching them practice every so often. Which is unusual for one who spends all his time in a library.”
“Yes, well. I am Elrond’s head advisor; I need to take an interest.”
“Really? If you say so. Would you like a cloth to wipe away the drool?”
“Glorfindel!”
He laughed. “I am only joking with you, friend, do not take it so personal!”
“I am not the type of elf to gawk and stare at warriors, or any other elf, in that manner. That is something a friend knows about the other, you know.”
“I still have much learning to do. As you said, I have not spoken to you much until this moment. But I wish to learn. So, my first lesson, Erestor lusts after no one openly.”
He rolled his eyes at the golden haired elf as they kept walking. Silence won out once again as they kept on down the path together.
Glorfindel looked over to his companion and smiled. Deciding conversation with the boring little prude was not needed, he moved forward slowly but surely. Reaching out, he placed his hand on Erestor’s back lightly, gliding his hand down and through his long black hair. Erestor jumped a little and looked over at him.
“What… what are you doing, Glorfindel?”
“Your hair really is beautiful. It suits you wonderfully.”
“Excuse me?”
“I know I never showed it before, I have always found you to be rather beautiful.”
“You could have fooled me.”
“I apologize; I have been very cold in the past.” He moved his hand off of Erestor’s hair and placed it on his shoulder. Trying to remain gentle so he would not frighten the smaller elf, he pulled Erestor into himself, spinning him so their chests were pressed together. “I plan to be a lot warmer from now on.”
Erestor’s hands rested on Glorfindel’s muscled chest and he applied a slight pressure as he looked up into his eyes. He could see the lust there, and it made him shake. He was torn now. He had desired this elf for so long with nothing ever coming from it. And now it was here, but he had taken to another. “Glorfindel… it is too late now. I am being courted!”
“By whom?”
“Orophin.”
“Oh, please. He told me just the other day he only wished to bed you and move on.”
“Yes, he told me that too. Right before he admitted that he felt something when he finally did bed me.”
“He has had you?”
“Yes.”
Glorfindel could not hide his shock at the statement. Forcing himself to smile, he sighed. “Well, no matter. You will soon forget about him.”
He pressed harder against Erestor’s back, forcing their bodies together as close as they could get. Leaning down slightly, he took Erestor’s mouth in a strong, forceful kiss.
He yelped as the warrior’s mouth took his own, and his mind raced. Why now? After all these years, why was Glorfindel coming to him now? He became aware of his hands on the warrior’s chest again, and forced himself to push harder in an attempt to break the kiss. Glorfindel’s hand moved up his back to his head, his fingers tangling into his hair as Erestor tried to pull his head away.
Becoming aware of the strength of the elf embracing him, Erestor felt slightly panicked by his inability to escape his arms and his kiss. He needed to do something, and fast.
Sliding his hand down Glorfindel’s chest, he braced himself for whatever was to come as he pinched his nipple as hard as he could through his shirt.
Glorfindel broke the kiss with a pained squeal and looked down at Erestor again, his arms not leaving the small elf. “What was that for?!”
“I do not want this!”
“You have wanted this since we met, what is wrong now?”
“He does not want you anymore, Glorfindel,” Orophin announced as he approached. “He has me.”
Glorfindel took his arms from Erestor and stepped back. Straightening his clothes, Erestor turned and walked toward Orophin.
“Well. I can see that.”
“Yes, and I would appreciate it if you would also respect it.”
“As you wish.”
