Chapter 10 Fifty years later in Valinor
“Ouch! Stop it!” yelled Estelleth from the playroom.
“Stop what ...” retorted Elladir in a very low voice.
Haldir stood down the hall just inside his bedroom door, no smile upon his face, brow raised, wondering what it was Elladir called his beautiful daughter. “Do you think it wise we took in Elladan and Elrohir’s sons?”
“I love them as if they were mine,” said Lorinaura brushing her hair. “Come, feel your own son move.”
His face noticeably lightened as he knelt and placed his hand upon her growing belly. “Gods, you are beautiful like this!”
“Ouch! You are hurting me! STOP IT NOW, ELTHROS! I am going to go tell Ada!” bellowed Estelleth, “Rotten oafs!” Her voice found a very displeased father.
Lorinaura watched his ears perk up again, listening to his sweet little elleth being teased. “Try to contain yourself, my love. She needs to fend for herself a little,” she said patiently.
“What was that? Did you say something, Essie?” Elthros gibed and then he whispered something.
“He is only saying that to irritate her,” Haldir said, still listening intently to his daughter’s pleas. “You know Elrond and Celebrian have no children in their house. Why don’t we ask…”
“She will handle it…. and if she cannot, you will go,” Lorinaura interrupted. “Elladan and Elrohir entrusted us to raise their sons while they are still in Rivendell. Besides, I know you love them, too.”
“Are you deaf? I said to stop it!” Estelleth barked. “Why do you do that? You know I hate it, Rossy!” she asked in an angry, yet pleading tone.
Whispers again...
Haldir grinned; Elthros hated it when she called him Rossy. Perhaps she could fend for herself. After all, she was the Marchwarden’s daughter. He held his head a little higher, ignoring his wife who obviously read his thoughts and had almost fallen off her chair from the laughter.
“STOP PULLING MY HAIR!” she shouted, once more. “The next one of you who does it, I swear upon Elbereth herself, you will be so sorry! You will never see it coming, but I will not rest until I make you sorry! AND I AM NOT YOUR SISTER!”
Lorinaura gasped, her face nearing shock. She immediately grasped for his arm and sadly missed. “HAL! BAW! SEAS DARO! They are just elflings!”
As he left the room, Haldir’s jaw clenched, his body tightened, the smile gone. “I will kill them.”
