Legolas looked at Haldir with wide eyes and said, “Not stay here? You mean go live somewhere else? But you love Lothlorien”
Haldir nodded and said, “I do, but I will live anywhere in happiness, as long as you’re there. We can’t live here, I don’t want to risk he’ll hurt you, nor anyone else”
Legolas looked at him and said, “But…where?”
“Rivendell,” came the immediate reply from Haldir, “No one will try to harm you there. The twins may try to seduce you, but won’t force you, nor will Elrond…and perhaps I can be a guard there and you can stay with them if I’m gone on patrol”
Legolas looked at him, still not completely sure about it.
Haldir sighed and said, “Love please, I really don’t mind. I want you to be safe, not having the risk that someone will take advantage of you when I’m out on patrol, Rivendell is a nice place and I can go visit my brothers any time, I will be fine and there’s hardly any risk something happens to you if we live there instead of here.”
Legolas looked him in the eyes and burst out into laughter
Haldir arched his brow and said, “Something funny?”
Legolas laughed even louder and said, “You look so funny trying to convince me”
Haldir looked at Legolas, the younger’s laugh was infectious and he couldn’t help but laugh himself as well.
Legolas sank to the floor, unable to keep standing because of his laughter.
Haldir smiled and said, “I’m glad it amuses you. I have to go tell the lord now, will you come or shall I drop you with Rumil?”
Legolas took a few deep breaths to stop his laughing which were now small giggles and said, “I’ll wait with Rumil”
Haldir nodded and picked Legolas up in his arms and said, “I will be back with you soon” and carried him to Rumil’s talan and knocked on the door.
Rumil opened it and arched a brow at the scene before him and said, “What is it?”
Haldir smiled and put Legolas down and hugged his brother
Rumil gave him a strange look and said, “Haldir, are you sick? You’re ehm acting weird. Did something hit you in the head?”
Legolas giggled slightly and put a hand over his mouth trying to stop it.
Haldir looked at him and said, “No I’m not sick little brother. Legolas is going to stay with you till I get back to collect him after I’ve seen the lord”
Rumil looked a bit suspiciously and said, “Okay…have fun” and walked inside, followed by a still giggling Legolas.
Haldir went to lord Celeborn and told them they were going to move to Rivendell.
Celeborn tried to convince him to stay, playing on Haldir’s sense of duty.
Haldir found it hard to be confronted by that, he almost gave in to staying if it wasn’t for Galadriel who interrupted.
Galadriel stood next to her husband and said to Haldir, “Do you really desire to move to Rivendell?”
Haldir nodded and looked at the floor and said, “Yes my lady, I really do”
The lady of the light smiled warmly at the marchwarden knowing how hard it was for him to say those words and said, “Then do so, but promise you will come visit at times, both of you, for you two have been like children to me and I do want to know how the two of you fare, and so will your brothers.”
Haldir bowed his head and said, “We will my lady, I promise. Namarie” and left the talan and return to Rumil’s

Haldir nodded and looked at the floor and said, “Yes my lady, I really do”
