Tainted Fate
Every inch of Aywens body ached. She knew it couldn’t have been very long since she had fallen asleep, Legolas never stayed away long. Moving slow as to not push her already sore body she pushed herself from the bed she knew all to well. He must have been in a good mood today, usually after he had what he wanted from her he sent her back to her rooms. She smiled to herself, perhaps she was growing on him. She knew to well the effect he had on her.
It had only been a few months since her father had sent her to Mirkwood to marry Legolas. She was the one hope that either one of there kingdoms had of uniting. Her father, Anduin, king of Lilothin, and Thranduil had been at odds for years. When she had been told of the wedding Aywen had only a few days to adjust to the idea. Legolas had been no help. He was passionate enough when it had come to his claiming of her, infact that was just about the only time he even glanced her way. So had been her life, day after day of pretending she didn’t notice the glances exchanged between the females and her husband. Or even that she was virtually secluded from every aspect of his life. If it weren’t for his visits, several times a day, Aywen was fairly certain Legolas even knew she was alive.
“My lady.” Aywen jumped as Sylain came bursting through the chamber door. “My lady, I have brought you some herbs ,perhaps they will help.”
“Thank you.” Awyen blushed softly. Sylain had noticed the aftermath of the passion that Legolas and she shared. Several time the kind women had soaked the bruises and pains from her body. “What was he so upset about?”
“I’m not exactly sure my lady, I’ve heard talk.” Sylain paused.” Several groups of orcs where seen traveling near our northern boarder. The prince has been out since he left your side.”
“I hope someday Legolas will learn to confide in me.” Aywen felt her heart pause. If the rumors were true than Legolas would be leading a group out soon the thought of being without him killed her. Then another thought ,what if he was hurt or worse killed.
“My lady aught not worry, your husband is the best warrior in this kingdom my lady, you are well defended.”
“How is my beautiful daughter?” Aywen smiled as Thranduil greeted her with a hug. He had made life much easier. Even picking up the habit of calling her daughter. Just as she called him father. “How fairs your day?”
“I’m wonderful Ada,and you?” Aywen smiled following him towards the training fields. Aywen very much loved afternoons like this. Thranduil would often send for her to join him on his inspection of the men. She smiled softly at the older elf who walked beside her. Legolas had definitely gotten his looks from his father. They both shared that amazing smile and handsome looks.
“I know someone who has a birthday coming up do I not?” Thranduil teased nodding slightly aside to her.” I’ll have you know that Alvirin has already protested his objections to the elaborate gifs your husband has purchased for you. He says Legolas is single handedly drained our treasurers.”
“Legolas? For me?” Aywen had not meant to sound so surprised. Tranduil laughed beside her.” I’m sorry my lord, it’s just, well, you know to well that our marriage is not one made from love.”
“Come now girl, I don’t believe that “ he winked at her. ”I see the way you look at him. And when he thinks no one is looking the way he looks at you.”
“I’m not trying to offend, my lord, but you MUST be mistaken. ”Aywen paused watching two elves as they awaited a few feet ahead. They were ready for his inspection. ”Legolas barely says a word to me.”
“My lord! We are ready.” before Thranduil could reply he kissed her quickly on the cheek and swiftly walked towards his waiting men. Aywen stood in awe watching her father n law. Had he said what she thought. She was surprised Legolas had even remembered her birthday much less cared.
“What are you doing here?” Aywen jumped at the deep voice behind her. It was Legolas.
“You frightened me.” she smiled slightly. He closed the short distanced between them.” Your father invited me to walk with him.”
“I looked for you.” He was angry again.” I should be able to find you Aywen ,when I need you.”
“I am sorry my lord, I shall try better.” her heart was failing her she was certain of it. He grabbed her and kissed her passionately.
“Legolas! My son!” Legolas hissed slightly as he shifted his attention from the small elf in front of him. By the valor she was driving him crazy and she was just standing there.
“Ada, please forgive me for being late, I was busy trying to find my wife, who seemed to have disappeared into thin air.” Aywen knew the remark was more directed toward her than Thranduil. She bowed slightly and turned towards the castle. ”Where are you going?”
“My lord?” Aywen stopped abruptly. Legolas had reached out and was holding her arm. ”I thought I was no longer needed.”
“Since you were not available when I TRULY needed you, I wish for you to accompany me this afternoon. After all you have never seen the rest of our lovely kindom my dear. ”Legolas pulled her to his side. Aywen winced, she could feel his fingers digging into her arm. She tried pulling away but he only tightened his grip.
“My lord, I might sometime need the use of my arm again.” She knew she would pay for it later, but his anger was wrongly directed towards her. “If you but loosen your grip a little I think it might be saved.”
“Don’t we have a sharp tongue this afternoon.” Legolas stopped walking and faced her. “perhaps I have given you to many liberties.”
“No my lord.” Aywen knew she was out of place but the words kept pouring out. “ In fact it seems I’m nothing but a mere shadow to you. Only to be noticed when I can be some use to you. In fact such liberties that a wife enjoys, I seem to have a lack of.”
“You WILL go to your rooms Aywen, and when I am finished here I will remind you of who your husband is.”
Awyen sat looking through her window. Legolas had not come as he promised he would. For that she was grateful. She could feel the tears slowly leaving tiny rivers on her cheeks. How many days and nights would it take until she learned that this was indeed her life.
“why do you hate me so VERY much?” She sobbed pulling her legs to her chest. She quickly wiped the tears from her face as she hear the dinner bells. Surely she wasn’t expected to skip dinner simply because Legolas had a temper tantrum. She hurried down the corridor that lead to the dining area. She could hear elves laughing and talking. She hoped that she wasn’t late enough that someone had already seated with Thranduil. Sitting next to Legolas was the last thing in the world that she wanted.
“Good evening princess.” She smiled politely to the servant she passed. Aywen searched the room only to find that indeed someone had taken the seat next to the king. So she slowly made her way to the empty seat next to Legolas. He was already eating and from the looks of it he had consumed several cups of ale.
“Well, look who has decided to grace us with her presence.” Legolas laughed as she sat. “The high and mighty Aywen
“There is no reason for the entire kindom to know of how you feel about me Legolas. For your fathers sake at least, be discreet.” Aywen tried to whisper as Legolas drank heartily from his cup. He turned to her slipping on hand under the table he lifted her skirt rubbing her inner thigh. ”stop it.”
“Don’t think for one moment Aywen, that you are in a position to tell me what to do.” He leaned into her grabbing her neck and forcing her into a passionate kiss.
“Now that’s what I like to see!” The room erupted in laughter as Thranduil lifted his cup. ”Perhaps soon I will be chasing my grand children around the room.”
“Perhaps we should get started on his request my lady.” Legolas pulled her roughly out of her chair and away from the dinner hall. She pulled her hand away abruptly and started towards her rooms. ”Oh no, you still need your punishment. You were a very naughty girl Aywen.”
“I have no intention of going anywhere with you Legolas. I will not be treated like one of your common whores any longer.” She picked her skirt up to run from him only to be pulled into a small alcove in the hall way. He shoved her hard against the wall lifting her so she was straddling his waist.
“This, my lady, is how I treat a common whore.” He quickly removed all barriers between them and shoved his manhood deep in her .She screamed out as he pulled out and thrust back in again. ”That’s it my love, let it go. Come for me. I want to feel your sweet juices.” MY love, she laughed slightly, the only time he called her that was when they where joined. He ripped the front of her dress to expose a firm round breasts and bite lightly on the nipple he found there. She could feel herself responding to the assault he was perpetrating on her. He lifted her hands and pinned them above her. Legolas was tearing her apart inside and she absolutely loved it. He was close she could tell. She lifted herself and followed his motions.
“Legolas!” She screamed as she reached her climax. Legolas feeling her wall contract came hard.
“That’s my girl.” he gently moved a piece of her hair from her face and kissed her gently on the cheek. He gently lifted her and placed her back on the ground. Stepping away from her he frowned and made his way to his room. Leaving Aywen gasping for her breath and crying.
“My lord?” Halivan, Legolas’ closest friend was yelling up to him. “ Earth to Legolas?”
“What is it?” Legolas shook his head. They had been at their post for over two days now and he was tried of listen to his friends endless chatter. He was utterly mortified when his father had notified him of his responsibilities for the week. On top of everything he couldn’t keep his mind off of his beautiful wife, who now was so very far away. He kept thinking of the way he had left. He had opened her door slowly around dawn. She was sleeping still, but he could see the dried tears that the night before had been. He shouldn’t have been so forceful with her. He quietly made his way to her side pulling the covers over her and kissing her softly. She smiled in her seep and whispered his name. He wanted so much to love her.
“We have reports my lord. We have eliminated the bigger group of orcs but my lord, we fear they may have slipped past our guards last night in smaller groups.”
“What are you saying?” Legolas felt his heart sink, not only had he failed his father but know his entire kingdom could possibly be at risk. Aywen, my god Aywen.
“We think they will reach the outer walls by nightfall.” Halivan winced as he threw his heavy gear upon his back. Legolas eyed the younger elf there was something that was not being said.
“What aren’t you telling me?” Legolas jumped down from the tree where he had been seated. “tell me Halivan!”
“We think they are lead by Samiron.”
“My lady, perhaps you should come in. It is getting dark. You know Legolas would be furious if you were out here.“ Sylain was standing on Awyen’s balcony she could just make out the women’s small form contrasted against the setting sun.
“Yes, well MASTER Legolas isn’t here is he?” Aywen laughed out loud throwing more flowers into the basket that she had already picked. Sylain laughed heartily at the young elf’s response. “So he can’t tell me what to do huh?”
“I’m sure that’s not the proper attitude a wife should have towards her husband, am I right little one?” Aywen froze looking up towards the woods that grew near the palace. Standing in the shadows she could see a man standing. Every part of Aywen’s body screamed run but she couldn’t move.
“Who are you?” Aywen demanded. She quickly glanced behind her to glance for Sylain, who now had disappeared.
“All alone are we?” The man chuckled softly. Aywen winced, something about this man made her skin crawl. “I must say, the reports I’ve received about Legolas’ new bride did not do you justice.”
“Tell me who you are.” Aywen started slowly backing towards the palace. Could she make it to the door? If she screamed would someone hear her? “My husband is supposed to meet me here any second, so I suggest you just go.”
“It’s not nice to lie Aywen.” She gasped as the man stepped forward. Legolas? No not Legolas, but he could have passed for him if one had just glanced. He was older Aywen concluded. “I passed Legolas last night in the woods. He’s not coming to your rescue. He has no clue I‘m even here.”
“I’ll scream if you come any closer.” Aywen knew the door was only a few feet away. The man smiled slightly and rushed toward her.
“Don’t move!” Aywen looked towards the voice. It was Legolas and Halivan. Before she could react the man grabbed a hold of her and produced a knife. pressing it to her throat he smiled. “Let her go Samiron!”
“Well, well, it’s nice to see you again too.” Samiron pulled Aywen to his chest. She was crying now the tears flowing from her eyes. Legolas stepped forward aiming his arrow straight at Samirons head. “Don’t fool yourself Legolas, she’d be dead before your arrow left your bow. Besides I just want to talk.”
“Let her go then.” Was that a tear? Was Legolas crying? Aywen couldn’t believe her eyes. Did he really care for her life? “She has nothing to do with any of this.”
“Oh but you don’t see. She would have been mine you know. It would have been my name that she would scream out in pleasure.” Aywen cringed as she felt Samiron’s hand lower to her breast. He lingered there slightly kissing her neck. “Maybe I’ll still take her. What do you think Brother?” BROTHER? Had he called Legolas brother.
“You gave up the right to call me brother long ago. You will release my wife NOW our I swear by all I hold dear I will kill you.” Legolas stepped closer the arrow only inches from Samirons’ face. Aywen cried out softly as the knife Samiron was holding sliced into he skin above her left breast.
“Step back Legolas. Next time it will be her neck.” Samiron laughed as the blood dripped down the front of Aywens dress. “ Just tell ada he can’t ignore me forever. Mirkwood will surrender what is rightfully mine. Or I will simply take it.” With that Samiron pushed Aywen into Legolas and ran back into the woods from where he came. Halivan ran after him while Legolas caught his wife as she fainted into his arms.
“I want him found.” Thranduil’s voice was low as not to disturb Aywen who was still unconscious on the bed. Legolas stood to face his father. He had been seated next to Aywen since he had carried her lifeless body into his chambers. Refusing to let anyone see her he had bandage her wound and removed her torn clothes. He pushed a few stray hairs from his face and sighed. She look so small and helpless in his large bed, something he hadn’t noticed before.
“Halivan lost him somewhere south of our borders, we think he has allies father. He’s planning something. I can feel it.”
“I’m so sorry son.” He placed a comforting hand on Legolas’ shoulder. He looked at his youngest sons face. How had he gone so wrong with Samiron. How could he have let it get to this point. “I have failed you as a father.”
“No!” Legolas looked up into his fathers eyes. “It is I that failed to keep our borders protected. I should have been careful.”
“We need to contact Anduin. Perhaps he can shed some light on the situation.”
It had been days since Aywen had awaken. Sylain had been waiting on her hand and foot since she had opened her eyes. Thranduil had been to visit her almost three times a day. Leoglas however had remained distant and she had only seen him once. He had rushed in the room grabbing something from her desk and swiftly leaving without even a glance in her direction. Halivan had brought her flowers explaining that Legolas was just busy and that she ought not worry about it. Which only made her worry more. On top of that no one seemed very keen to answer any of her questions. Why had this man called Legolas brother? Was Thranduil truly his father?
“My lady, your father has arrived. He wishes to see you if you are feeling well.” Sylain smiled carrying the dress that she knew Legolas had Hassien, the royal tailor, make her weeks before. It was her birthday. The celebration was tonight. “He is waiting for you in the library.”
“Thank you Sylain.”
“What kind of of husband puts his wife in danger in such a way?!” Anduin has angry he could feel his blood surging. He turned to Thranduil. “You promised me that my daughter was safe in your hands. Then I find out that not only were your borders compromised but my daughter was attacked. I should pack her things and bring her back home where I know she‘ll not be harmed”
“First of all, “Legolas stood angrily. “ I saved YOUR daughter. Second, she is my wife now, she’ll not be going anywhere.”
“Anduin, “Thranduil rolled his eyes at the two. “You must understand. Samiron is my son. I had him exiled years ago. He was involved in the dark arts, he turned into someone none of us recognized as our family. You MUST understand we had not heard from him for years. In some ways we considered him dead. Now it seems he has grown much more powerful than we could have ever guessed.”
“Thranduil I’ll not have my daughter harmed..”
“Stop it all of you!” Aywen yelled from the door way. The three men looked like children fighting in a sand box. “it was my fault entirely that I was harmed.”
“What are you doing out of bed?” Legolas immediately came to her side. He stopped in her tracks. She was beautiful. The dress fit her gorgeously and he noticed that this was the first time since their wedding that that had an occasion to celebrate. Which meant it was the first time she was wearing Mirkwood colors. He felt so possessive of her. Hassien out to be shot for giving her as much cleavage as she did. But the green and tan dress just confirmed even more that she was his. That Mirkwood was were she belonged. Beside him and in his bed.
“I thought I ought to add a voice of reason to the discussion.” She smiled slightly at the concern in Legolas’ voice. “I was the one who was out in the garden far after I should have been. Legolas had warned me only days before not to be outside after dinner alone. It was my fault father not Legolas or Thranduil.”
“I only thank the valor that you are safe.” Anduin crossed the room to engulf his daughter in a hug. He paused a moment and looked in her eyes. “There is something different about you.”
“I thought that too.” Thranduil winked in Anduin’s direction. Legolas looked confusingly at each of the men.
“Can it be Thranduil?” Anduin smiled grabbing Legolas and embracing him. “Aywen’s mother, had that same look about her.”
“Yes,” Thranduil smiled lighting a small pip from his desk. “ So did my wife.”
“What on earth are you talking about?” Legolas smiled. He hadn’t noticed anything different about Aywen, maybe she was a little bit moody lately but other than that.
“They’re talking about the baby.” Aywen stood silently. Legolas gasped, she couldn’t be could she?
“AH! I KNEW IT!” Thranduil grabbed Anduin by the shoulders and spun him around. They looked ridiculous. ”we’re going to be grandfather’s old chap!”
“We need to talk!” Legolas was furious. He grabbed Aywen by the arm and once again she could feel his grasp getting tighter. He threw open the doors to his fathers sitting room and slammed them closed behind them. “How could you let me find out like this!? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I wasn’t exactly sure until just now.” Aywen sighed feeling his glare in her face. The truth is she thought if she denied it to herself ,then maybe it would just go away.
“How can you be sure now?” Legolas was pacing now. He only stopped when he heard her gasp as the tears started flowing from her eyes. “Why are you crying?”
“Why am I crying!?” She wiped the tears from her cheek and stood to face him. Something she hadn’t dared do till now. “I’m pregnant with your child Legolas! Something that’s supposed to be beautiful. You, oh no you, you turn it into another way that I messed up your life!” She ran towards the door only to have him grab her. He spun her to face him pinning her body between his and the door. He kissed her only to have her hand slam down on his cheek. ”Why do you hate me so much!?”
Her words echoed through his head. He didn’t hate her. It was all he could do to stop falling in love with her. She was seated between Anduin and his father at the feast. She had ran from him. He hadn’t seem her until the party and even then it was all formalities. He studied her smile as he laughed at the conversations around her. When was the last time she had smiled like that at him? Had she ever smile at him like that? He was going to be a father. He smiled to himself as he pictured Aywen holding their baby.
“Legolas.” It was Halivan who woke him from his daydream. “Legolas, it’s Samiron. He’s outside the southern gate. He won’t leave until he’s spoken with you.”
“How dare you show yourself here tonight.” Legolas was furious that Samiron was smiling at him through the gate.
“Are we celebrating something special?”
“You have five minutes. Then your dead or gone.” Legolas couldn’t bring himself to look into his brothers eyes. He wasn’t the man that Legolas as a child long to be like.
“My aren’t you pushy.”
“what do you want?”
“I want you to forgive me.”
“What?” Legolas was almost physically thrown back by his brother request.
“I have someone who wants to speak to you.” Legolas winced when he saw her. It was Trevila.
“Hello Legolas.” Trevila smiled. She was just as gorgeous as Legolas remembered her to be. He remembered the nights they used to spend together, his member grew thick just thinking about it. Memories came flashing to him then that night. The night that he had found her and Samiron together. She was Legolas betrothed. He had loved her more than life it’s self and she had single handedly ripped his heart from his chest.
“What are you doing here?” She reached her hand through the gate to caress his face. He instinctively leaned into her touch.
“We both know your not in love with that wife of yours Legolas. Trevila and I have a proposal.”
“I’m not interested in anything either one of you have to offer me. ”Legolas tried to sound convincing even though his head was still cradled in Trevila’s palm.
“Love me Legolas. Love me in the way you use to.” Legolas felt like he was dreaming. No, he wouldn’t fall for it again. God she felt so good though. Samiron laughed slightly in the background but Legolas could hardly hear him. It was like his senses were shutting down. Then he heard her.
“Legolas?” It was Aywen she was calling to him. No she was standing behind him. “what’s going on?”
She crying again. Damn. Why did he always make her cry? Of course it didn’t help that she had caught him in the middle of something that looked entirely bad.
“What do we have here?” Samiron smiled in Aywen’s direction. The desire that was echoed in his eyes made Legolas furious. What had they done to him. He looked at Trevila’s direction. She had tried to put a spell on him. He jumped back from the gate suddenly thankful for it’s presence. “Just as beautiful as ever.”
“I don’t know she looks rather plain to me.” Trevila’s laugh faded as Aywen stepped closer. “She’s with child. Your bitch wife is with child?”
“Aywen, why did you come out here?” Legolas moved to stand next to her. Suddenly he felt as if he needed to protect her. “it’s far too cold out here for you.”
“I don’t know Legolas,” Trevila rubbed against the gate. “Seemed pretty warm to me.”
“I noticed you left the party,.” Aywen was starring at Trevila but at the same time ignoring her words. “I wanted to make sure you were okay.”
“I’m sure I can take care of him.” Trevila smiled at Legolas. Aywen stepped closer to the gate. Legolas reached out and pulled her back.
“No love. That’s what they want.” Legolas whispered into Aywen’s ear. Samiron laughed as Legolas caught his eye.
“I think you should bring your wife inside, She seems to be bleeding.” Trevila joined Samiron in laughter as they slowly disappeared back into the forest. Legolas screamed as he watched Aywen hit the ground. Her dress covered in blood.
