Spring In Rivendell
Title: Spring in Rivendell
Author: Lynsey
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Beta: Spell-check
Chapter: 1/?
Pairings: Erestor/Glorfindel
Rating: So far PG-13
Warnings: Slash, a rather rare view on elf sexuality, hermaphroditism
Summery: It’s spring time in the valley
It was spring in Rivendell…or in other words “Mating Season.” This time of year had the hormones of every elf on Arda running amok. This was the time for attracting and choosing mates. Clothes were taken to the limits of decency: leggings tightened to show off powerful legs, bodices lowered to display fertile décolletage, robes revealed more leg than they should, and the list goes on. Warriors spent more time sparring with each other, more for displays of superiority and dominance than simply training now. Others came to watch the combatants reveal their skill with sword, bow, and bare-handed combat. Sharp, intelligent conversation ran wild as elves tried to prove themselves more learned than others. Great care was taken to exhibit all of one’s most outstanding characteristics, thus attracting the best mates possible, considering, once mated, a pair stayed paired for all eternity. The previously mated couples spent many hours during the spring months trying to drastically increase the population of Rivendell, and the progeny of the previous year’s efforts were being born.
This was what Glorfindel contemplated as he watched the warriors in the arena spar. He had not expected that upon returning to Arda he would be experiencing the need to have a mate again. In his previous time among the living, he and his best-friend Ecthelion had been considered ‘mates’. However, this had mostly been a bond arranged between two very good friends. Neither had found that ‘special someone’ and they had both agreed to be together simply to relieve the terrible need to mate. They had spent many years together as best friends and lovers until the fall of Gondolin. Now, the bond between them had been dissolved by one Vala or another, and here Glorfindel sat, looking at anything on two legs with ill intent.
That was when the raven-haired God of Glorfindel’s world appeared on the other side of the arena. One of the most highly valued and sought after creatures in the world of the First-Borne…an ellian. Both male and female, strong and passionate, a warrior and a care-giver. Built like an ellon to better protect any child they may bare, but with the litheness of an ellith. Both males and females alike pursued the beautiful and rare ellian. Glorfindel was no exception.
Erestor may well have been the most pursued ellian on Arda. He had become a High Councilor to Gil-galad shortly after his majority, and was thus known for his intelligence and wit. Not more than a few years after his appointment, the Last Alliance had begun. During that fateful war, the advisor had not only showed a cunning head for battle tactics, but had amazed everyone with his prowess on the battlefield. Ellian that became warriors were said to be among the fiercest of all soldiers. They were said to fight like a she-bear protecting her cubs, and that description was not far from the truth.
After the fall of the High King, Erestor had followed Elrond to Imladris to act as his advisor. During the decade that had followed, Erestor had shown no interest in any suitors male or female that came to court him. Sure, he teased, tempted and flirted with them all, but none had yet to become his mate. Glorfindel watched the dark beauty scan the crowd surrounding the sparring pit.
Observing the energetic youth begin to make his way around the arena, Glorfindel felt old. Hell, getting up in the morning made him feel old. He had lived an entire life-time and DIED already for the Valar’s sake. He should be spending more time courting elves his own age than pining over the dark little bird that flitted around the Last Homely House.
Still, even after telling himself these things, Glorfindel couldn’t help but stare mesmerized at the vision Erestor presented. He was especially fond of the councilor’s attire…or lack thereof. The sweet, supple body was clad in a simple black and burgundy sarong draped about his hips. His upper body was decorated in nothing more than a few tasteful pieces of jewelry. Shaking his head, the Seneschal returned his attention to the fighters in the arena.
A few moments later, he felt a warm body seat itself on the wall next to him.
“Do you mind if I sit with you, my Lord?” inquired a husky, sultry voice much too close to his ear for comfort.
Steadfastly staring ahead Glorfindel replied, “Do as you will, my Lord Councilor.” Then he did his best to ignore his companion.
Erestor sighed. This was not going to do at all. He pulled one leg up underneath him, and let the other dangle over the side of the wall. This had the desired effect of baring his entire leg from ankle to groin through the folds of the sarong. Erestor looked up at Glorfindel with half-closed eyes, and he wet his luscious lips with a pink, sharp tongue.
Glorfindel ignored him.
Sighing again, Erestor changed tactics. He arched his back, pretending to stretch. Long, ebony hair flowed down his back to his buttocks as his body bent. He let a sweet moan pass from his lips. Nearly all conversation and activity within the arena stopped as everyone salivated over the foxy advisor perched upon the wall.
Glorfindel ignored him.
Becoming exasperated, Erestor decided it was time to become a little more forceful. He leaned on his hand that was closest to Glorfindel. Then he ‘lost his grip’ on the wall, and came tumbling down into the golden warriors lap. A very befuddled Glorfindel looked at his lap-full of raven-haired councilor.
“Can I help you with something?” the Elda inquired.
“I think I twisted my wrist,” said Erestor as he cradled his wrist to his chest. “Do you think you could help me make it better,” he said in a purr.
“The healing hall is that way,” pointed Glorfindel as he extracted a very non-compliant Erestor from his lap.
Erestor huffed and sat once again beside the warrior on the wall. It was time to resort to drastic measures….
