For some reason, Legolas found him walking to the beach. He had a long stressful day negotiating with some men from the east, “ matters with trade disagreements, that were vital for Mirkwood,” his father said to him before sending him off on the journey. On this way back he found this beach. It was very relaxing for him to take off his shoes and walk in the sand barefoot with his trusty steed in tow. It was also very relaxing to hear the waves crash onto the shore.
Looking off into the distance he saw something come out of the water and onto the beach line. Being the curious elf that he was, he sought to find out what exactly this thing was. The closer he neared the more he saw, this thing was half human, and half fish. From the lower belly and beyond was like a fish tail. Amethyst and scaly, the actual fins were a lighter color of purple, lavender. From the lower belly and up was like looking at a female human. The hips were wide and the arms were slender, the hair long and flowing with a dark shade of auburn. When the object of Legolas’ gaze turned he saw the creature’s eyes, gray like the coat of a wolf, magnificent. He also noted that this creature was wearing nothing to conceal the breasts that bounced freely with no restraints.
If this creature looked like a human, it might speak in the tongue of the humans as well, and so he went toward the creature.
Before anyone realized it, Legolas was behind this creature that was staring out into the sea.
“Hello,” Legolas said in the nicest way possible to not scare off this creature.
The creature jumped and put its hand to its chest when he saw who it was.
“You startled me,” she shrieked.
Yes, this was a definite female, Legolas concluded, “Forgive me, but I ..”
The creature folded her arms across her scaly fish tail, or whatever you called it.
“You wanted to know what I was,” she stated.
Legolas simply nodded.
“Well, I, my new found friend, am a mermaid. What are you?”
“An elf,” he replied quickly.
“My name is Morgana, what is yours?”
“Legolas.”
“Nice to meet you Legolas, she said while holding out her hand.”
Legolas took the offered hand and shook it, he didn’t sense any danger from this mermaid.
“So you’re a mermaid huh?”
Morgana nodded her head gleefully, “Yes, and there are mermen as well. My kind lives bellow the sea, where do you live?”
“In the forest.”
“Oh yes! I heard about the forests! From my teacher.”
“What else did you hear from your teacher?”
“About humans, to stay clear from them, that they are evil cruel people, but you said you were an elf, not a human, my teacher didn’t say anything about elves.”
“Well, not all humans are evil cruel people, most humans are shadowed with greed, and there are a few that are kind hearted.”
“And what are you?”
Legolas finally sat down next to Morgana, getting himself comfortable, “I am pure, I am the first born here on Arda.”
“Ooooh! Now I know! My teacher did tell me of the first born, he didn’t tell me that they were known as elves.”
“Tell me more of your people Morgana. I am curious to know, you look like a human from waist up, but below you look like a fish!”
Morgana and Legolas spent hours talking. Morgana told Legolas the ancient tale of her people, and Legolas listened with delight. They talked for so long that the sun settled over the ocean horizon and Legolas knew it was his time to leave.
“Well my friend, the hour grows late and I’m afraid that I must continue my journey back to Mirkwood.”
Morgana pouted, “But I loved the time I spent talking with you!”
“Forgive me, if I am but a day late my father will definitely have my head.”
“I understand, I should get going too, but wait, take this so you’ll remember me forever,” she said as she unfastened the one of the necklaces that was around her neck.
Legolas lowered himself so that Morgana could fasten it around his neck.
Once Legolas heard the click a sudden wave of dizziness hit him and darkness surrounded him.
