I do not own the Lord of the Rings (and associated) book series, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
The Little Mermaid
Rating: NC17
Pairings: (Note: Gelir is a OFC) Merry/Gelir, Merry/Pippin e ime implied than actual, I think)
Summary: Middle-earth version of The Little Mermaid, with more adult themes.
Warnings: Merry’s bitch of a Mother is enough warning. A dash of incest, blood, death, humiliation, wicked schemes, okay I’m being a bit over the top.
Disclaimer: I’d give my right arm to own Merry, Pippin and Frodo (and the actors who play them) but they belong he lhe late Mister Tolkien and his descendants (and the actors belong to their parents, hee, hee). Also I do not own the story of The Little Mermaid, but I do own the character of Gelir.
Mistress Brandybuck’s (author) Notes: I tried this one when I was about 12 or 13, it was a lot more gory back then and was based around an actor that I liked. I made another attempt around xmas, which was based around Legolas, but I love Dom/Merry far too much to leave him out :-)

Beyond the greatness of Middle-earth the land was scarce and the oceans full and prosperous. A farscape of deep blue waters ran as far as the eye could see, right up to the unexplored borders of Middle-earth itself.
In these forgotten seas dwelled the Mer-people, a large and grand kingdom of the ocean dwellers set far in the dark middle of the great sea. Here there sat a palace of gracious beauty. It’s coral turrets threatened to touch the surface of the ocean, it shone in the light of the magic Mer-pearls, which brightness could not be seen far above. Glimmering white and pink shinning seashells adorned the palace walls. At one of the many windows edged in a rare yellow pearl sat the youngest daughter of the Mer-King. Gelir, a name that reflects the days of old for her people. Long ago in the first age of the world there had been friendship between the Mer-people and the peoples of Middle Earth, especially elves.
Ie tie time of the last Alliance of Elves and men against the Dark Lord, the Mer-people could do little if anything to help the cause. Men labeled them untrustworthy and accused them of siding with evil.
Elves defended their friends but when it came to battle they turned their backs on the Mer-people, who then fled far away from Middle-earth.
2000 years later a young Elf by the name of Nilniliel, daughter of Legolas of Mirkwood was lost at sea. She was discovered by the Sea Kings patrol and with the help of their elder day magic she was restored to full health, and now able to live under water the King sought to make her his bride.
They had six daughters, Alyssa, Adarna, Arnella, Amina, Akasha and Gelir; the youngest daughter was named after the elvish word for merry as as aas a merry time indeed upon the year of her birth.
Nilniliel died when Gelir was a young Mer-child and a great sadness fell upon the kingdom for many years till the young princesses blossomed into beautiful young women. Gelir was now 16, Mer years spacing out the same as human years, she was still considered a child.

For many hours Gelir sat at her window gazing up into the darkness of her ocean home. As a young child her Mother had told her stories of Middle-earth, elves and all other creatures.
Her father however had always insisted that these were just mythical stories formed in her Mother’s vivid imagination.
Gelir and her Mother knew differently, she never doubted her Mothers word that this place was real. She longed to see Middle-earth for herself just once.
Her sisters however had headed their Father’s words and never wished to hear their Mothers stories of the forgotten land.
‘Gelir are you still sitting by the window’ her oldest sister Alyssa complained.
‘I have nothing more pressing to attend to sister, you know that better than I do’
‘Well you could make yourself useful by tending to the enenamies in the garden.
‘I would much prefer to tend to the ones outside the palace walls thank you’
‘Come now Gelir, you know very well that you cannot set tail out of the palace walls till you come of age.
‘But that is two years away’
‘And well it is too, for that gives Father chance to drum these fantasies of Middle-earth out of your head.
Alyssa went and sat by the window with her sister.
‘Gel my dear when are you going to realize that it isn’t real. Mother’s stories of Middle-earth were just a figment of her imagination as a way of getting you to go to sleep at night. You would never sleep.
‘You’re wrong Alyssa, it’s real; Mother swore to me, she told me she was one of the great peoples of Middle-earth. The race of elves.’
‘Nonsense that’s all it was’
‘Then how do you explain our Mother’s figure, she had no tail like us, she was not of Mer blood, what was she Alyssa.’
‘We’ve been through this Gel, Mother was bewitched long ago by a witch that split her tail in two’
Gelir turned to back to window, frustrated at her sister.
‘Well I still don’t believe it’ she insisted.
‘Believe what you will, me and our sisters are going exploring again’
‘Let me know if you come across any elves on your travels.’
‘I shan’t even dignify that with an answer Gel’ Alyssa said before closing the door behind her.
Gelir stared back up into the ocean, she knew Middle-earth existed and she could not wait another two years to prove it. She had to find the lost lands, now.
