Summary: What if Thranduil hasn't always been the cold person everyone knows him as, what if there's more to the story....can his heart be melted again after all those years?

Thranduil took his lover’s hand in his, staring deep into his eyes and said, “I’m pregnant”

His lover pulled his hand from Thranduil’s and started packing his stuff..

Thranduil looked at him, honest confusion shown in his emerald green eyes as his lover went to the door. He stood up and said, “W-where are you going?”

His lover turned to him, a disgusted look spread over his face as he said, “Home. You don’t expect me to stay with you now do you?”

“Why not?” Thranduil felt his hands were shaking, tears filling his eyes.

“I have no desire to lay with a pregnant elfking and I really don’t need a child from you”

Thranduil felt the tears role down as he stared at the one he loved more than anything in his life and said, “I-I thought you’d be happy….I thouyou you loved me back.”

His lover laughed mockingly and said, “Love you?! I have never loved you, you were a nice bed warmer you slut of a king, but you are no use to me with child. Don’t you see? You were so eager to believe that by letting me lay with you, I’d love you, but I was only interested in your body. No Thranduil, no one in this world will ever love you, they only pity your existence. You carry your sin alone.” He then left, leaving the once so glorious king of Mirkwood, curled up in a corner, rocking himself while the tears continue to flow down.

It was Saelbeth, his personal advisor, who found him in his room. He had been crying for over three days now since his lover left him so coldheartedly but he was still in shock.

The once ever happy king was confused; was it true? Did no one care about him? Did he commit a sin by choosing to sleep with the only one he ever loved without being married? Perhaps…But he didn’t need to be blamed for it…He couldn’t be blamed for it.

Saelbeth softly shook his lord, who seemed to be in some sort of trance.

Thranduil slowly got aware of his surroundings and looked at his loyal advisor, he could see the honest concern in those bright grey eyes. He knew he didn’t have to stand alone.

Saelbeth looked at him and said, “Thranduil, are you alright?”

Thranduil wanted to say he was fine not wanting to admit what was wrong, but he knew he could trust Saelbeth and said, “What I’m going to tell you now must forever stay between the two of us, will you promise me that?”

Saelbeth nodded and said, “Of course my lord, but let me help you from the floor and onto something more comfortable”
Thranduil let himself get helped up and onto his bed before he started telling what happened.

Saelbeth gasped; he never believed he could do such a thing, he had always believed him to be the caring father of any child of his. He then looked at Thranduil and said, “I will visit you many times a day, for nine months, so no one will see you are the actual mother of this baby, than I will have a grave be made, where we put a life-sized doll in. Then you can say that the mother and your wife died while giving birth and no one will know otherwise except for the true father. But he probably won’t tell anyone unless he iven ven no choice”

Thranduil smiled a bit and said, “Thank you, but really, a visit once a day just to bring me some work and a meal is more than enough”

Saelbeth nodded and left the room.

Thranduil lay down on his bed, a green satin blanket lay over it, golden embroideries ran all along the sides of it, that were black, in the pattern of leafs. His room was tinted in dark colours; deep red, dark brown, several tints of green, mostly dark but some lighter ones and a big door that lead to the balcony which had the most beautiful view of all the rooms in the palace; it looked out over the gardens, that were blessed with small waterfalls and rivers.

Sighing softly he swore to himself never to let anyone claim his heart again, he would never feel this pain again…
